Despite your interesting analogy. I don't think we'll be able to put an LS1 in an EVO.

He was reffering to the video I posted.

I'm going to assume that for legal reasons you won't be dropping LS1's into non-GM vehicles in FM3

    Jimmy Superfly2:

If you go to about 13:45 in this video you will see the engine swaps available for the Focus RS

    http://www.xboxlive.fr/news_affiche_10501.html

The first one is Ford's 5.0 'Cammer' V8. This engine is built by Ford Racing and is not availible in any production cars from Ford. Seeing this makes me believe that not only will we have the ability to swap in engines from the manufacturer's other featured vehivles, but also distinct crate motors.

If this is true then there is a posibility that older GM Muscle Cars could use GMPP's 572ci Bick Block and newer GM cars could use an LSX derrivitive.

OT: I am deffinetly building an AWD V8 Focus RS for Gymkhana purposes.

Definitely would love to see that!

First off, that sucks having no RWD Evos.

Second, WHY WOULD YOU PUT AN LS1 IN AN EVO? People have gotten 1000+ horsepower out of the standard 4 cyl engine!

It would be sweet to have based solely on the fact that Twin Turbo's are also confirmed.

We could make some big power NRE style.

In my opinion Ken Block Gymkhana = FAIL., I dont mean to player hate but Ken Block is a poser. Everyone seems to have a addiction to him but me and some fellow forum members. Anyone can beat on a overpowered awd rally car in a empty parking lot with DC stickers all over it, but it takes skill to Drift down 10+ miles of Fujimi Kaido in a under powered rwd car that you hand painted and hand tuned.

-Sorry for going off topic. But im pretty sure their are crate motors.

I just have to shake my head at this kind of thinking... unless it is a bad attempt at sarcasm do you honestly believe driving a TV with a controller on a fictional track is anything like being behind the wheel of an actual high power AWD car?

At any rate, he makes no excuses with those videos, and states so pretty plainly.  I suspect much like the individual who was saying the same things about him during one of the Dirt2 promotion events, and then got a ride in the real thing... most of his "haters" would need to change their pants afterwards.

lololololol 5.0 cant fit in a focus....unless you cut the firewall out

As a mater of fact you can quite easily. There are over 100 V8 powered Ford Focus' on the street right now. There are kits available which include an engine cradle, new suspension compoonents, etc, which lets you mount up pretty much any small block V8 on the market today. The onlt cutting required is a small section to accomodate some transmissions the removal of the spare tire well to make room for the rear axle and a fuel cell.

This is the Focus RS8, which has the cammer V8 in it that you can install in Forza 3.

I had planned on doing this swap with my own Focus, but I always end up needing my money for other things. The Focus comes with a drive tunnel which easily accepts a driveshaft. The swap can be done for very little money if you source your parts right and the kit is almost 100% bolt-on.

I guess I don't understand. In Forza 2 you could put race engines that are available as crate engines in run of the mill cars.

Yes, but all of FM2 swaps (that I can think of) came out of other cars featured in the game.

ie: 7.0L Corvette race motor from the C6R swapped into a '02 Z06

The difference here is that the 5.0 cammer is not featured in any car in the game. Therefore its not like it's being swapped out of a donor car or anything, it's a powertrain that is only sold separate from vehicles.

This opens the door for a bunch of sweet powertrain swaps on GM, Ford and Mopar vehicles using crate motors that were never featured in vehicles.

ie: 770hp 572ci Bick Block Chevy.

Re: Crate motors (not just swaps from other cars)

There are some anomalies. The Golf GTI Mk.5 has the option to use the 3.6 AWD from the Passat R36, not yet launched when FM2 did.
