Re: what do you think of suv's

I've been quoted multiple times and put in a sig for this statement.  I will be actively tuning SUV's to drift.  On a side note, I will also be using them to take pictures as I did with cars like the older Ferrari's and the Maserati's.  Cars in a game don't have to JUST be for racing.

I know I'll get flamed for this statement by some of the nitpickers who break down anything Dan says, but I do agree with him with his statement of "turn gamers into car lovers."  You don't have to love a car because it can be set up for racing and who knows, maybe some of you naysayers will try them out and they'll eventually grow on you.

Or I might absolutely hate them and refuse to drift tune them when I first try.

But at least you are gonna try... and that is all that matters.

Exactly.  I look at it like a new, "experimental" flavor of ice cream.  Might be good, might be bad, but I won't know until I try it.

I all with you on this one Lizard. I want to prove naysayers wrong that one can't drift a Cayenne.

Re: what do you think of suv's

Many of these SUV's are good picks for being in the game... didn't they mention something about trucks as well?

But there are others that I didn't see, a few that are needed to get the full flavor taste of performance SUV's and trucks

    1. 1993 GMC Typhoon... Turbocharged, AWD, and 13 second quater miles... This little *** ran circles around the Corvette of that time and from stop light to stop light was more than a match for a few Ferrari's of that time...

    2. 2001 Ford Lightning... The Cobras bigger more brutish brother... Enough said

    3. Dodge Ram SRT-10... Viper V-10 and a Getrag 6 speed... makes for a pretty fun truck...

Those are definite researchers for anyone wanting to look more into the category...

Trucks are not confirmed, nor have been discussed by T10 so don't get your hopes up.

100% agree on the Typhoon though.

I dunno, there's something about it... I want to tune it so badly... (probably has to do with the fact that I'll probably never own one myself)

Personally I can't stand those over sized lumps, regardless of how I feel about them they are a part of Forza 3. So long as they are not mandatory then I'm not all that bothered.

I thought that adding SUV's would destroy the game but after thinking about it.I have decided it a good idea and could add more depth to the game.

But then again the game isn't out yet so who knows lol

Can't wait for SUV's. Imo, they'll add a whole new element to the game. Whether it's cat and mouse, tag, demo derby, racing, drifting, or drag racing I can't wait for them. Trucks would be great too. Big Smile

Re: what do you think of suv's

i just had a thought reading this.  Forza 3 is a highly realistic simulation racing game....but what people seem to be forgetting is that Forza 3 is a GAME and therefore allows Turn 10 to design as much sim or fantasy as they wish in the game. From what we all can see they are sticking to the sim aspect of the genre but still are allowing some fun fantasy aspects to find its way in the game. examples include fantasy tracks, SUV's, and the ability to heavily upgrade and race cars that are not really designed to be raced(ex: honda civics, pt cruiser, the new dodge charger, etc). If you want true sim the then you need true cars that were designed to be raced or achieve top speed, which would take away a lot of the cars that will be in this game.  do u really want that?..........didn't think so.

oh and to put in perspective the potential of SUV's....look at the pt cruiser we can already race in forza 2. Its a vehicle that is not really a car, yet not really an SUV but if u slap in an engine swop and some other upgrades u have a sleeper speed car that can run really good laps. My buddy had one that ran in the 2:13's on sebring in B class which is really good for a non muscle car.  Likewise the Pt bruiser could also be made into a real competitive online B class handeling car so I expect that with some massive weight reduction, these SUVs should fair pretty well in online lobbies(though i doubt they would be able to keep up with leaderboard cars...but who drives those anyways?? it takes all the fun out of racing online)

i rest my case =]  would anybody with a mature argument like to contest what i said?

Good luck in finding a "mature Argument" Unfortunately this is a touchy subject on both sides of the fence... no matter how much we try to paint the picture that SUV's are a good thing... we get comments like the one above... "P.S. SUV's suck"

I don't mind that some people are not happy about this addition, but please before you try and flam, at least have a good argument. No ignorance needed.

I have to admit, the more I see and read on the cars...the more curious I am to try them.

But I still stand by my decision, in that they should be raced in there own class....Unless of course people wish for some fun in the cat & mouse mode...But that's not really racing I suppose.

I'm new here but i thought i'd chime in.   I think SUV's are a good idea. but it makes me wonder what awesome car will get booted for  a range rover.  I will be ticked off to all hell if we have SUVS but no 2010 camaro for instance or a new mustang. i love suvs but I could think of some pretty awesome cars they could add  before suvs as im sure many of you could.

    Love the sig!

As you are new here I will reasure you that, they did not boot any cars to add SUV's. This was planned out from the beginning...

Edit: a better way to put it, they are an addition
