    I agree with you !

But I'll answer the initial question by another one : put a F1 and an IndyCar on the same track for a couple of laps and wait... I mean a real track, not an oval track... If you're not convinced, think about what happened to the pilots who moved from Indy to F1 and to those who moved from F1 to Indy...

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

Ok I see this forum will be going on for a while so I better add my 2 cents.

Ive read so many pages of peoples comments and agree with most of you except with some on the traction control etc....  Rules a always changing in F1 and motorsport somtimes its hard to keep up with it all.

But I am a all motorsport fan.. but will have to swing towards F1 only for the history, Teams budgets (toyota $500million fffaaaarr  kkkkk) So much hard work goes into the F1 cars the only problem  I think all will agree F1 has got a little to political. Its all about whos playing tennis with who on the weekend sort of ***.......relationships a big in F1, 2007 shaw did show us that. But I found the championship starting to go a bit pear shapped since 2 or 3 teams a totally dominating the whole championship all the time...gets a bit boring.

Champ cars and indy cars arnt as popular in Australia correct me if Im wrong , even thou we host 1 of the races at surfers paradise(my home town ) the T.V coverage can put a dark shadow on sports.

If you dont have pay t.v your stuck with whatever is going.... and when your at a young age growing up around motorsport you tend to swing to the monority.

We arent that privelaged this year because they stopped broadcasting on local t.v of the champ car series ( I may be wrong ,publicity started to grow around Will Power so they started to look at showing the races again).               I just think its good that we a graced with a good variety of motorsport  these days.  But I LOVE      F1,  JAPAN"s  SUPERCARS, and special rally championships like DAKAR, PIKES PEAK(spelling)     BUT WITH TRACTION CONTROL TAKIN OFF THIS YEAR IN      F1      AND NEW GEARBOX SHOULD PROVIDE SOME GOOD RACING CAUSE AS SOMEONE SAID ON PAGE 5   VETERAN   F1   DRIVERS A GOING TO HAVE FUN HEHEHE.           ???????? No   One like     A1 racing ????????????

    Have a close look

    we wish!!!!!

    Just a random !!!

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

F1 or IndyCar is a double edged sword really.

F1 is about to bring KERS to the cars in 2009 which is going to push the technology forward, and the teams that get it right will have a big advantage. Meaning the field is less compact and few have a chance of winning.

Indy however has less technology and smaller budgets making differences between teams more competitive.

The massive budgets of top teams in F1 $450m make it the cutting edge of motor sport. There are things I’d like to see change, but its the thrill of designers as well as drivers duelling that makes it so interesting for me.

Follow the link to read more about KERS www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2008/3/7466.html

F1 racing magazine recently had an article on KERS which was very good.

Come on Lewis No.1 this year.

Yeah, that's why I like Indy and NASCAR a lot more.
There is something about keeping things relatively 'old school' that I enjoy about both forms of racing.

I also love what the F1 guys bring to the table, because without all of the R&D, a lot of our cars today wouldn't be nearly as awesome.

    - I don't know if I make any sense anymore, so bare with me.
My mind hasn't been with me these past couple of weeks.

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

Interesting reading, I can honestly say I really have no preference, though I pay more attention to the Indy series. Why?, because I grew up with it.  I do find all the comments on ovals interesting since it is a whole different skill set for a driver. Having actually raced Karts on an oval, perhaps I have a better understanding of just how difficult that form of racing can be. I am old enough to remember Indy before CART and before there were any road coarses. It was the mix of ovals and road coarses that made Indy Cars THE series to watch in the late 80's and early 90's. The Indycar/ChampCar split did more than divide open wheel racing, it divided the format as well. Sorry guys I but I like the mix, and I like driving on both types of tracks.

I'll say F1, hands down.  Nothing can beat 19,000 RPM at up to 5 lateral Gs.

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

I like both for diffrent reasons.

F1: Because its european. I grew up with it. Cornering speeds in F1 are more then spectacular. The history.

    Indycar:
They have ovals. The Indy 500. Much more overtaking. They race on equal terms.

Im a fan of motorsports, so i also enjoy WRC, Le Mans Series, DTM and so on. In the end they all have their own charm, no matter what series. Smile [:)]

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

history ? with f1 compared to indy 500 think about that for a second.i like f1 its just the crazy how much money they have wish they rules could keep them competetive but the cant so i say they should let them build whatever they want. but then again indy cars are very competitive and thats very important to me thats why touring cars are so exciting to watch and even nascar on road courses cause it seems to be more the driver than the car sure theres advantages but not like ferrari has had the last decade and half. the a1 series is pretty intense, how are we gonna feel when they switch over to turboed 4 cyl in the next couple years and kerr systems its gonna be weird and i think ferrari will be left in the dust as far as mechanicals are concerned.dont bash americas rally drivers just cause the dont have all europeans advanced driving assists seen that a few times on these forums. finnish rally drivers are the most exciting to watch and soeb is just has no comp except for himself. peuogeut is headed to dtm? anybody know for fact should be good ever since opel left there hasnt been anything except merc and audi thats an awesome series to watch where are the rest of those cars we got the opel wheres the merc and audi crazy cars i suggest the devs take a look at that series and others like it that add weight to drivers that out perform others in competition series style race rooms or even career in 4za three and find a way to bring back people who use assists to sandbag them a little bit harder instead of driving the car for them and awd cars around the world dont work that good as track cars cause of weight issues and understeer and most series add weight for having that and last not everyone who drives rwd car drifts could ya fix that thanks seems like u figured it out on the last dlc keep it up awsome being able to be comptetive without  tcs or stm sorry i just kept writing blah blah anyway good subject like all racing just some a comptetive ones a bit more Big Smile [:D]
