    Too much smoke=Unrealistic?

For those who've seen the videos.

When the Ferrari brakes or accelerates there's a quick cloud of smoke around the tires/car. I find this unrealistic, a cloud of smoke like that should only show up if you're acceleration while holding the brakes (Burnout) or drifting in some way. I think it should make the tire noise, then leave a quick tire mark on the road and maybe some smoke, depending on the car/power. I do think more smoke is better but only if you're there burning out or drifting. I don't think that much smoke is realistic of the line, unless you have too much wheel spin. But, the Ferrari can't produce that much smoke in that split second.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree completely. Only when you are in one location long enough for the smoke to accumulate, or based on tire temperature. I'm sure that has something to do with it, since smoking your tires is just burning the rubber off.

They might be over doing it to let you know that you are spinning but you are right, I much rather have everything more realistic.

There other ways to tell if you're over doing it but that huge cloud should not be one.

Somethign like this would be better

I'm okay with it. I'm not thrilled, but it seems to get the "coolness" factor while giving a visual indicator of what you're doing.

The first thing that stick out to me the big cloud of smoke and how unrealistic it looked. I don't think it's cool, makes it look arcady.

    Re: Too much smoke=Unrealistic?

It is kind of ironic though, since we (including me) were bi**hing for uber clouds of smoke, so they give it to us, but I think too little smoke is better than too much, but the best way would be to have smoke in the right context.

    Re: Too much smoke=Unrealistic?

I agree it looks unrealistic (at least, not without putting oil on your tires because you're lame) but they have to have some kind of visual indicator that you're spinning and not just building up to a launch. I'm not sure how else you would let people know their boned up without some visual cue?

The game is 60 % done... Maybe the smoke is balanced yet....
    But...It didnt seem ''that'' unrealistic...

    That's where they come in.

If i sit there burning out for 30 seconds i want a huge cloud of smoke, but, in a normals race that much smoke won't be caused. Do you see what I'm saying? If you start burning out you get big smoke but if you're stopped and then step on it shouldn't create the same amount of smoke.

No, blur isnt realistic becuase if you want to track an object moving across a screen then it would be clear to you in reality. The blur effect assumes you are staring at the center of the screen at all times.

What video are you talking about because I don't recall seeing a ferrari with smoke. If some one could send link that would be great.

ok fine, if you drive/ride in a car alot, then go on the highway and drive about 70 mph or 80, your surroundments start to blur

I drive over 100 almost every time i get on the highway. I don't see any blur effect in front of me, i don't see any blur at all. If i look next to me I'm going to see object in blur but that's because I'm fling pass them. I'm so focus on whats ahead of me that sometimes i even forget i have the radio on.
