Very cool. Now just to save up some more to get this all done.

One thing I loved hearing was the altenative wheels coming late 2007 or early next year! Smile [:)]  Now I can dream of Logitech releasing something with FF.

    Thanks for the info Che.

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

This is a great way to get a real "sim" out of this game.  Only problem is it costs too darn much.  It took me 6 months to pay off my 360 before it came out, up to 5 weeks ago to get a 22" LCD monitor cause I couldn't afford a $1500+ TV then 2 months to pay for the game.  I'd love it, but never gonna have it.
360 vs WII vs PS3 - 360=all around great, WII= Weird, Innovative and Impossible to find, PS3= Piece of *hit X 3
It is said the shortest sentence in the english language is "I Am" Could it be that "I Do" is the longest?

looks bad ass but way too much to invest in think about it about 3 grand for the screens and about 1.5 grand for the xboxs and the seat and alll the other stuff i figure a little less that 10 grand to setup perfect and i would rather buy a new motorcycle or a real car

Don't forget to put that the versions have to be the same or it won't work.

I doubt the Xbox360 has enough graphical power to drive three displays at 1080i... hence the multiple machines.

If I had money falling out of my exhaust pipe I'd do it.  Then again, if I had enough money there'd be a real '73 Carrera RS in my driveway too!

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

Very, very tempting however I do not see why anyone should have to buy up to 5 copies of Forza 2 for a 5 screen setup when they could release something on the marketplace which would allow other consoles to be additional screens, not the entire game... I'm sure that wouldn't be too hard to sort out and would be a lot cheaper than forking out up to an extra £200 (UK highstreet store price is £50 which is around $100) for 4 extra copies.

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

Thanks for the guide.  Printed and added to the master blue prints.

What's that about 3 copies the same ?  Please confirm ?
Are you saying a Limited Editition version + 2 normal versions, won't work ?  ..that's madness.  ..and I'm gonna have to change my order pretty damn quickly.

+ I was planning in getting the French version with the limited edition Pug too.
..or is that not gonna work either ?

I notice too that you just need a core system.   ...with some storage.
Hmmm.  Isn't that the premium version ??

    I'm investing in this setup.
3 x 22" screen's though (£200 +VAT each!), but plan to put them less than 1m away from eye line.
Nearly there, got frame, seat + seat belts(!), surround, buttkcikers, m/soft wheel all installed.

The whole setup will have cost me around £2000.
..But I generated most of the cash selling all my old, not used anymore stuff on e-bay.

Will post pic's when I've finished it (end of the month I recon') too much other work to be done.
+ the whole setup is going to be portable !!  (No really!)

..and a note about the API's for the force feedback being out.
..a patch for the G25, please, please and pretty please.
The microsoft wheel feel's like you are driving with the steering column broken (Ayrton Senna anyone ?), never experienced a wheel like it, and I've had dozens.
Still replacement bearing on order.  ..just need a lathe now!

Dang! Just reading about it and looking at the pictures makes me wish for a sudden cash windfall like a lotto win, distant rich uncle dying, or a bag of money falling out of an armored car in front of me.

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

First, off thanks Turn 10.  A lot of stuff we already knew but some stuff I didn't like the degree's of screens and how to adjust based on how the view correlates between the 3 front screens.  As for the cost obviously its not cheap but there are definitely misconceptions of costs having to be above 5,6,7 thousand.  Here is my setup and breakdown of cost.  I would also like to say its so awesome playing with this setup.  It definitely works and it definitely adds an immersion I have never experienced before.  Will it make you better, not a whole lot.  There is something to say about seeing cars creep up your sides and with the limited rearview mirror in the hood/chase views using the bumper view basically gives you all your surrounding's so you can react and adjust accordingly.  Ok well I know i'm not the only one with this setup and I've seen some even better setups across this website(deloosem where are you!) but here is mine and the breakdown of cost.  In the picture you won't see my additional xbox's but they have been purchased since I took this picture and the sponge from walmart has replaced the swiffers(thanks skatezilla!)

    Triple Screen

    Three 32" inch Vizio's              $1,800

    3 xbox's(premiums)                    $1,200

    3 copies of Forza 2                    $  180

    Playseat                                      $  250

    Racing wheel                              $  150

    5.1 surround sound(pioneer)    $  250

Two adjustable folding tables   $   30

    One Ethernet switch(100m)        $   30

    Surge protector                            $   75

    Total                                               $3,965

Sure, an incredible waste of money but hey I work hard and rarely splurge on myself so I made peace with the whole thing. The wife didn't resist it too much either, god I love that woman, but I really did a lot of research and definitely planned this out for months.  Now all this stuff isn't top of the line by any means and I'm sure I could have cut corners and put the money to better use but regardless the multiple screen is a ton of fun and I have years of enjoyment to look forward to here.  I would like to note i'm having a problem finding CLEAN racers to have fun with online so if any of you are out there(I know you are) add me to your friends list please gamertag is DONKEY PUNCHER1

Actually with LCD's monitors you can get the extra 2 screens for under $1500.
    -$400 xbox with hard drive
    -$50 monitor cable
    -$200 19in lcd monitor

The seat and everyhting else is not really needed.

its not a waste of money to you, you shouldnt have to justify your expenditures. i think its hella cool you're able to do this. 90% of the people that play forza 2 wish they could play it this way as well (even if they wont admit it). great work man!! take some pics of the final project sometime with you in there racin!!

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

Quick question... There may be an easy answer but I thought others may find this helpful as well.

When starting or restarting multiple 360's is there a special sequecnce you need to do to get the controllers on the right box. Especially since your using a wheel? Or do you also need to get wired controllers?

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

Yeah, I'd love to build something like that.  I don't think it's a waste of money if you have the money.  Of course I need a new furnace for the house this year so I have to weigh a new gaming rig for 1 game against a furnace.  Furnace wins.

I was going to go out and buy the Triple-Screen Setup but then I realized I could start a real racing team for the same price.  So yesterday I started 7ShadowsRacing , wish me luck!

Re: The Forza Motorsport 2 Triple-Screen Setup Guide

    Mogely to answer,

I have the plug and play rechargers so when I was using the controllers for the side xbox's I just used that wired connection and it made the controller connecting much easier.  Until someone helped me with the side xbox's going into sleep mode in between races I had the controllers connected all the time so I could get the consoles to light up from the screensave mode but now since I've set everything up on the side xbox's I disconnected all controllers and the wheel just starts the host xbox and I manually push the power button on the additional consoles.

I will add sometimes one of side screens kind of get fooled if you will from the host and they lose the connection(usually after a race or if I play with photomode/replay), its happened maybe 2 or 3 times total and all I have to do is restart all 3 consoles.  I've attempted to just restart the fooled xbox but it doesn't seem to connect so instead of making it work and work I just shut them all down and restart the consoles.

What kind of racing are you doing that will have a ~$2000-3000 fixed cost?  The cheapest wheel-to-wheel racing series I'm aware of is SCCA's Spec Miata class, but even with that you can expect to pay $5000+ just to get your car setup (need a donor car, hardtop, roll cage, exhaust, suspension, etc).  That's just the fixed initial cost for the race car.  You also need to get your SCCA license, your racing suit, helmet, gloves, shoes, HANS, a tow vehicle and trailer, etc.  All of that can push your entry costs over $10K or more.  Then every race will cost you money for lodging (unless you live near the track), gas (for the car and for your tow vehicle), brake pads and rotors, tires, oil, and any repairs required after the race.  And you can't expect to earn much prize money as an amateur racer in a spec class.  You'd have to do very well in order for your winnings to cover your expenses, and the sad fact is that it costs even more money to be competitive and win than it does just to enter.

All said and done, that's $10K-$15K or higher initial costs, plust several hundred $$$s more every race weekend.  Compared to that, the Forza 2 multi-screen setup is cheap, even if you go all out and do a five-screen.
