After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
I am one of the people who felt that the force feedback in Forza 2 demo was really weak..I couldnt really feel it unless i drive out of the track and lose control.
Now it has changed..
I downloaded Colin Mcare Rally: DIRT demo last night, and i started to play it. I felt the FFB was also very weak, so i tried to find if DIRT has got any settings (which forza 2 demo hasnt got)
and luckily there is a force feedback setting in DIRT demo, i set it to the highest level, and the FFB in DIRT is amazingly good!
A few hours later i decided to play forza 2, and i went into the game.. I was totally shocked!! It was amazing that the strong FFB actually works in forza 2 now!! I am very happy with it.
So, if anyone feel that your 360 wheel feedback is really weak in fz2 demo, try to do the same. Download DIRT demo (even if you dont like it) and set the force feedback level to the highest, and then get back into forza 2 demo, you should be satisfied with it. :)
BTW, DIRT is very good too..
June is motor heaven...
Waiting for GTA 4....

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
damn.. I won't be home until tomorrow night (that's 24 hours..) but I can't wait to try that! I really think the forza 2 force feedback is brilliant but it was a bit weak indeed. In dirt I experienced a lot more power, so maybe it can work. Thanks for the tip anyway. Now let's hope the FF in the full game is at full power already :)

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
The same thing happened to me, I thought maybe I was imagining it was stronger,
After reading this, im sure its stronger.. Does this mean we need to start DIRT first anytime we wanna play F2? How would one games settings get stored like that? Its odd to me that MS left it up to the devs to make "setting adjustments" ingame.. and theres nothing about the wheel in the console " driver versions" etc etc ...
Have you tried playing F2 without loading DIRT first? Is the feedback stronger permently? Do you think DIRT came with new drivers for the wheel?
This is very interesting.

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
Yes i have
and it's still stronger than it used to be, i can feel it.
however..
I went back to DIRT, and i found all the FFB settings are back to normal, in the mid level..
so i set them up to the top again.
and went back to forza 2 demo
the FFB became even stronger..
I really think MS should release another system update, add wheel adjustment in the system settings, so it solves all the problem.
Waiting for GTA 4....

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
Dirt did nothing for me. It's not fair tho, coming out behind Forza. Dirt looks good... yea, that is about it for me.

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
I noticed the same thing the first night I tried the DIRT demo. My FFB has stayed strong ever since without having to start the DIRT demo again.

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
Ditto... must be some type of memory in the wheel and if you had it strong last it doesn't seem to change from that default in the Forza demo

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
I'm a little confused. Where can you change the controller feedback?
in options I find:
Controller Setup:
Preset 1-4
Customize:
Button Layout (no vibration)
Vibration Setup:
Vibration (on or off)
Sound:
Volume levels
In game:
Settings:
Sound:
Volume Levels
Camera:
Turn off or on different options.
Nothing else, so where is the vibration or Force Feedback strength option?

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
Sorry to burst your bubble, but while Dirt does have a higher strength with the feedback, it completely sucks with the wheel. I drove the buggies around basically turning the wheel left and right left and right to keep it on the road. You can really tell Forza was developed for the wheel if you play the demo after Dirt. I can also agree, maybe Forza could use a little more strength on the FFB...but compared to ALL other racing games on 360, Forza blows them out of the water with drivability with the wheel. Well, just Forza blows everything out of the water with driving period.

Re: After playing DIRT, the strong force feedback is back
Did you adjust the steering saturation to 100%? By default it's 80%, which is way too sensitive. I also put a deadzone of 5 in. Drives much better.

This had me in difficulties too.
* NOTE: You must have the MS wheel connected first. *
When you load the DiRT demo, there's the lame announcement "Get ready to play Colin McRae DiRT". Then the 'Demo Menu' is displayed. Go to 'Options/Controller Setup'. Select 'right' on the four-way pad and 'Preset 1' is the wheel options screen. Selecting 'right' on the pad again gets 'Preset 2' (standard controller) and 'right' again offers 'Force Feedback'.
Here you get to choose: 'Force' (on/off), 'Force Strength' (slider), 'Friction Strength' (slider) 'Effects Strength' (another slider). All the sliders are defaulted to half-way. I have not tried to max them out to see how they affect the Forza demo... But I sure am going to! (I too feel the Forza 2 FF is too weak.)
I let you know how I get on... ![Yes [Y]](/emoticons/emotion-21.gif)
Cheers,
Chris

It works! Force feedback in the Forza demo is much more convincing after playing CM: DiRT & maxing out the FF sliders. For instance, when you go into the gravel in Forza the wheel really pulls the steering, and heavy over-steer really is, well, heavy!
Much better! ![Party!!! [<:o)]](/emoticons/emotion-19.gif)
Cheers,
Chris
P.S. Does anyone know if this happens with the game, not just the Forza 2 demo?
