Re: Building the Takata Time Attack Imprez***
pothole0222:Since the car will be, I guess, debuting in Nashhville, TN (which is less than an hour drive from my home)... would it be possible for me to come to the event, and get some up close and personal pics of it?
What I'm trying to say/ask is.... I've never attended a Time Attack event before so I'm not familiar with how things go... is it common for the drivers/teams to have a "meet and greet" type session before, during, or after the event? Are the pits open to ticket-holders? How would I go about finding you/the car at the event when I show up? Either way, I'll be attending the event, and I would seriously like to get the oppurtunity to meet you and snap a few pictures of the car!
Looking forward to July 26-27!
--Kevin
Kevin, you are really going to enjoy the Redline Time Attack at Nashville. The pits at a Redline Time Attack event are generally wide open. You can walk through the pits at any time during the event. There shouldn't be more than 70-80 competitors, so it shouldn't be too much trouble to find us. Stop by any time and I'll be glad to show you around. If you are feeling brave, on Saturday we are allowed to have passengers during the practice sessions. I always have a spare helmet on hand for such occasions. If you take me up on the offer, I guarantee that you will come back from the experience with a new perspective of speed. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) I love to give rides. The Nashville event is being put on in conjunction with ImportAlliance, which means that in addition to Time Attack, there will be drag racing, drifting, a vendor midway and more. This is the first time a Time Attack series has been to Nashville Super Speedway so it should be very interesting. It is always great to have a Time Attack event in a new market because it draws a crowd of people that aren't really familiar with Time Attack yet, and many competitors that I've never faced before! Can't wait to see you there.

Re: Building the Takata Time Attack Imprez***
Hey James! I was looking at the Redline website for a while and I found a clip from 2006 of your car, and a bit from the bumper cam. That is some pretty impressive driving! (And the additional cone dodging ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) ) It's a real shame I'm not from American / Tennesee, I would have loved to watch a few races. Oh, and if you guys ever go to Holland's main (car) track(Ofcourse we have Assen, host of the Dutch MotoGP) let me know!

Thanks! If you are looking for videos, you find plenty here.. James Elterman on YouTube. I understand that Time Attack is quite popular in the UK. Maybe someday we will get an invite to Europe!

Sorry, there are no Time Attack events in Texas this year. The sport is expanding rapidly though, and my understanding is that Dallas is a real hot bed for the tuner scene... am I right? In addition I believe there are a lot of new tracks in that area. I bet we will be down there before you know it.

Re: Building the Takata Time Attack Imprez***
James, i checked out you videos on YouTube, and they are really good. I loved the one where you caught up with the S2000, so cool. I also love the camera angle, right up close to the tarmac. I wish i was in U.S so i could come see some events, lol. They sound really good.

Yeah, an some drving tips for the track too i think. I should of went down that day. I had some medical issues then an would of probably been depressed watching him run his car an not having my own anymore. He called me as soon as he left that day talking about the ride with you an what a great time it was. He still brings it up from time to time. I still remember the first autox I went to an seen you driving an Andy Hohl i think he was in a stock sliver STI, I was glad I wasn't in either of those classes. I never would of guessed the driver / car performance gap would of been so big. The following monday I charged almost every suspension part out there for it.
