Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Its a video game, yes. But its a SIM. as in it SIMULATES reality. As in its meant to be REALISTIC. What's next, turtle shells?
You know what? You win. I agree to disagree. You have it your way, I'll have it my way. that's what democracy was founded on. its a free country, you can do what you want, even if other people don't like it. If it was any different we may as well be living in Iran or something.
I'm done. I realise that we have turned this post from a simple more or less poll question to an outright war that just serves to tear the players of Forza further apart.
So this is my last post on this topic. Back to the original intention of the poster. I avoid using leaderboaord cars.
No hard feelings factory. You have responded kindly to a lot of my topics on this board like the one about your first win and so on, and I'll hate if you think I have a major beef with you or something.
Just have fun everyone. If you don't like certain cars in your room, no one is holding a gun to your head, go make your own. Peace out.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
factory: Does Red Bull Racing kick McLaren out of the lobby because they are driving a car capable of setting track records? No. Not now, and not ever. They simply try to go faster. R-A-C-I-N-G.
What are you talking about? Cars with unfair advantages get banned from racing leagues all the time. The rules get changed so that those cars cant compete the next season. R-A-C-I-N-G. Learn about it. Second of all, we're not talking about everybody driving the same car (nascar). We're talking about a room full of individuals that want to have fun racing. You gotta adjust to the room and have fun racing in different stuff if thats the type of room it is. Not drive with a huge advantage to add a win to your record. Or dont. Whatever. I dont care really, I do ok online.

SaNe 1320:leaderboard cars for hotlapping, unusual cars for racing
Hmm, makes sense. I'm not gonna bust out a GT40 at Road Atlanta in S class every single time I race just to beat everybody or force them to get their GT40 out. But thats just me I guess.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
i know you guys are having fun going on with this argument but i just wanna put this out there,
ITS A GAME...ITS FOR FUN
if you can't find a balance between having fun and being competitive then you aren't fit for xbox live..
who cares about your win record? who cares about trueskill?
if they wanna use a LB , then let them be...the amount of satisfaction you get from winning in a LB car is minimal (i've done this), while winning in an unusual car feels great (and i've done this). it doesn't mean we should hate on each other for using LB cars.
i'm not sure what age this group is but your all acting like children. it's time to see who the adults are and to start acting like one.
I fight my own battles, I can handle you all by myself. Fast cars are fast in the straights, Fast drivers are fast in the turns. Handling > Speed

And my point is, why should I bring any other car to the track just to make you happy? I payed for the game, and I pay for xbox live. You have no right to tell me how to play this game, and I have no right to tell you how to play yours.
LOL what?! I'm not trying to tell anybody how to play the game. You're right I have no right to tell you how to play the game. Unfortunately you're playing the game with other people. Its not just your game online. So they also have the right to call you out if your'e too scared to get out of your LB's.

Definitely no hard feelings. I respect your opinion, and you debated with tact. Something that is missing more and more on these forums. You have every right to fight for your opinion, because I will fight for mine. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) Funny thing is that I spend more time in race rooms in non-LB cars than I do in LB cars. I just can't understand why there is so much bias against the people who prefer to drive the fast cars. I am quite confident that when I get into one, I can beat them. Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me. The other day some guy beat me on Maple Valley Long. He was in a (B class)Mugen and I was in a (B class) Focus. His fastest lap was 2 seconds slower than my hot lap time in my Mugen. Did I boot him? Not a chance. I switched to Laguna and smoked him(we stayed in the same 2 cars). Then we went to Road Atlanta, and I won by a car length or so. I could have taken my Mugen out on Maple and beaten him easily, but I wanted to see how my Focus would perform. I wasn't the least bit worried about losing.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
I love using unorthadox cars in racing rooms. its so much fun to be innovative and find a style and tune that works for me where most people havent looked yet. not to mention there is a tingly feeling that goes through me when somone asks what kind of car im in or what im runnin in the car :)
my other feeling is that if one only uses leaderboard cars to set fast lap times, he or she may be neglecting themselves of learning a truly fast line through the track or the ability to drive cleanly in a pack of racers. they may be possibly blinded to a true line because theyre car performs well enough to put up a good time or, they would be too far ahead of the pack too often to learn how to run lines other than theyre fast one (in order to provide clean room for other racers)
CT Tuning FTW!

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
I never use a "Leaderboard" car... in fact, I always select a car with a PI rating at least 25 points lower than every other car in the race. That way, when I lose, I can always claim that the other guy's car beat me, and it had nothing to do with the other player's skill... Oh wait, no, that's not true at all... I do actually use "Leaderboard" cars, but only under two conditions --- 1) If I'm racing, I'll use my best car for the track (which will often be a LB car) and 2) If I'm trying to improve my hotlap times (which will often be with a LB car). Otherwise, I use any number of different cars when --- A) I'm just playing around (that is, when I'm running in Exhibition races instead of Career races), or B) I'm helping someone else learn a track (again, in Exhibition), or C) I'm testing out someone else's setup (usually in Exhibition or Free Run). - Don

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
SaNe 1320:leaderboard cars for hotlapping, unusual cars for racing
To me never has a truer word be spoken about this situation. The hotlap boards are the only real place where you qualify how fast you are against the other fastest drivers on each track in every class. Online racing should be about having fun, if there is a whole lobby of LB cars then pull yours out and be competitive but if there isn't then don't feel the need to pull it out just to win. If a lobby is restricting you from using your LB car when you want then leave, don't complain, same goes for if you're fed up of everyone else beating you with LB cars. I've found that being in lobby's where LB cars are restricted can be more fun since it bring a larger selection of cars into play that are competitive although there's nothing like the feeling of blowing past that LB car that is, compared to the top 200 or so times, really slow in something that you would never expect to see competitive ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) There are so many pro's and con's to this arguement it could go on indefinately for the rest of time.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Fact remains that the large majority of guys moaning about scoreboard cars couldn't scoreboard time with them....
eg, TTR ShuttleJ's mini time around suzuka, 2:07.771, take that setup/tune and go hotlapping, trust me 75% of you wouldn't get within 2 seconds of it!
Each to his own I say, I don't go racing online to loose so I use a car that I know to be competetive. If you want to race non scoreboard cars host a room and set your own rules, simple as that!

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
I tend not to use scoreboard cars. I use to have one (a Porsche Cayman in S class) but I quickly got bored of it. I prefer using cars that I like, not cars that are used for hotlaps.
My A-Class 1970 Corvette ZR-1 is, for me, a prime example. I haven't done what most people do with classic american muscle cars (max out the power, then sort out the handling). I've tuned this Corvette for handling and acceleration, and it's able to keep up with and/or beat almost anything. It's even beaten a few scoreboard cars, including the Elise 135R and VW Golf Mk 2 (with AWD).
As for racing scoreboard cars, I agree with fredflintstone: If you want to race non-scoreboard cars, simply host a room with your own rules.

you are aware that virtually nobody uses the VW Golf Mk2 in A-class nor is it a scoreboard car in A-class. Now i'm almost afraid to ask what tracks you beat the Elise on.... Sunset Infield?.................... ![Tongue Tied [:S]](/emoticons/emotion-7.gif) While on the topic, i'm sick of people saying "well I ran this car and it beat an Elise" or "I ran this car and I beat a Stingray". That stuff DOESN'T MATTER, stop judging the cars by the drivers.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Reaper 392:i hate using leaderboar cars but i do have them if you get that veteran 34 that insists on using a leaderboard car. some of my favourites are the really unused cars (like the lamborghini miura P400, the jaguar e type, etc)
HA reaper I use that 69 P400 all the time in A and S class lol. As for scoreboard cars just turn everything off and there solves the problem you will not be seeing any of them in my room thats for sure.

+1. I've tried TTR ShuttleJ's B class Mini. To me, it is one horribley handling peice of crap, but to him it was good enough to post a great time. That's the thing about downloading other people's tunes. They are usually not some magical tune that automatically makes you faster as whoever tuned them has done so to their own style which probably won't fit yours. Always a laugh when people go on about just downloading a setup and they're automatically fast. Doesn't work that way. So, people don't race the "leaderboard" cars. That's great, you've eliminated whatever number of LB cars you deem there to be. So what you do next is go find the next fastest car on that list and then ban people's LB cars. If there's 5 cars that are banned, these guys find the 6th car on that list. How fair is that when you've got the fastest car in the room and have banned any car that might be faster? Seems to me at that point you're just driving a would be leaderboard car if those you've banned from the lobby didn't exist.

I don't pay any attention to the leaderboards so I don't know if I have a "leaderboard" car. I suck at tuning. I just play to have fun.
