Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
factory:But that is the thing Aetherischer, if everyone is in a leaderboard car, then everyone has a chance to win. You can't tell me that it is fairer when everyone uses a different car....... 8 Elises = fair race, whether you like Elise's or not. If you choose to dislike the LB cars, then you are taking away the great equalizers.
If I wanted everything to be "equalized" I'd race R classes. I dont think theres any place for that type of stuff in the other classes. It makes the game monotonous. Yeah a race of 8 elises will be ultra competitive, and fun. But nobody's talking about that type of race. The race people complain about is when that 1 or 2 guys cant be pryed out of their elises' with dynamite. And they enjoy winning in a room full of non LB cars LIKE ITS SOME TYPE OF ACOMPLISHMENT BEATING OTHER CARS IN ONE OF THOSE GOKARTS LOL!! Of course I'm talking about people in levels Pro and up. Not beginners or amateurs. They can drive a space ship for all I care.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Aetherischer:Exactly, "choose your battles wisely"
Or here's another one "if you can't beat'em join'em"
There's tons of ways to look at it.
I prefer.. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
My current ranking is a pro 21 and I'm like most people really. B class racing 1 night and the room suddenly fills up with Mugen Integra's. So, I pull out a Civic Si 06 and get numerous laughs and gestures about my "slow" car. Race finished 4 laps later with me 5-6 seconds ahead and alot people picking there jaws up off the floor. Should of told them it was a Plop with no paint job...

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
kosm:And if I play a Football/soccer game I don't pick Brazil either :)
You should pick only San Marino, Oman, Lichtenstein etc. booo! Debate about "avoid using leaderboard cars" it's reason why Forza2 sucks online and why i stopped play FM2 online half year ago. Burnout3&4 was extremely much better than Forza2, even with annoying glitches. I like racing and don't like hotlapping but at FM2 only hotlapping have sense.
I'm using ONLY leaderboard cars and i don't like crappy nonleaderboard cars. I'm always go for wins and hotlaptimes, nonleaderboard cars have no sense (except stock tuning but i hate stock cars). I have about 30 cars, why i should have more?! I have life apart from videogames and i have no time for tuning 200cars! Also: especial about LB's cars are whining they players who are using only one class cars.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Depends on who I'm racing with and what they're driving. I try to stick to unusual cars to see how they hold up and to see how well I have them tuned. I have a few cars I've never seen anyone use, ever, that run great in multiple classes, and I use those when I can. If someone is consistently using a top 100 car in a room and winning, I'll switch to something similar.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Any car that's fast and beats people, there will always be smeone in the room will go off and tune up an exact copy, repeat that in every lobby over the course of a few weeks, you got a new favourite car for online racing.
Once enough people have lost, it gets added to the whine list.
Expect to see the Sentra, Eclipse GSX and Cobalt SS joining the whine list soon enough!

that's EXACTLY what I have a problem with. People that just go to whatever is winning. I respect to the utmost the guy that took the chance with a new car and MADE IT a leaderboard car to displace another. He took a chance. He took a car, put time into it, and MADE IT FAST. Like what some tuning garages do and make non-LB cars LB cars. Then comes the other guys.....the guys that just like lemmings off of a cliff go to the scoreboards everyday and buy whatever is at number 1. They never do anything on their own. Most of them don't even use their own setup, they d/l that too. Don't these guys have any pride in themselves? Don't they want to be the one that makes the leaderboard car? Where is their self esteem? Tuning and making your own car fast is half the fun in forza. I hope these guys don't complain when T10 annnounces the 10-car roster of forza 3. Pretending like they need anymore. Matter of fact, T10 should call the next game "Forza Motorsport 3: Muscle Vs Lotus"

Frankly i don't know why GM bothers with that C6R crap. What they should do is bring out the 60's Stingray. They would DOMINATE the world of international motorsport......even on stock tyres.

But think about the money they would save not having to buy racing tyres. they could use stock 70's stuff for about 10 dollars a tyre. The MC12 doesn't stand a chance. they would finally unseat it in the FIA GT championship (where they get their a** kicked mercilessly by the mc12, HAHA)

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
The ultimate issue is we have the choice to race with another person online. We also have the right to believe what we feel is competative. And when these ideas come together we make a decision on whether we race under this condition or not. While it takes a bit longer to find the best desired competative field for each individual player the gameplay is more enjoyable and everyone is happier. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

One of my best friends online, and my team mate, blademeisterTRC did that with the Hyundai Tuscani in D class on Maple Valley Long. Don't you think it makes him even more proud when he sees other people driving it?

First of all, it is a racing game. The idea is to go as fast as you can around a track. Secondly, not everyone has the time, or knowledge to tune their own cars. Thirdly, how can you tell anyone else what makes Forza fun for them?

I hate muscle cars. if I wanted to drive cars built in the 60's and 70's, I sure as hell wouldn't have bought a racing game made in 2007.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
i guess we only have to endure it for another 2 years anyway. i have no doubt th PI system will be upgraded for forza 3 so that when cars become obviously dominant in a class T10 can re-adjust its PI with a quick upgrade to make the class much more fair.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
h0axx: TomCat7: Xx01CamaroZ28xX:I usually only use non-leaderboard cars all the time. But I usually posst LB times with em lol.
You're saying that you only use a non-leaderboard car untill you set a LB time in it? Good for you. How many non-leaderboard cars do you have left?
I feel that I can use any car because:
1. I'm only an Amateur 19
2. My eyesight is 20/70 with some blurryness in the good eye.
3. I have only two fingers on my right hand. I compensate by using the MS wheel.
4. My CA drivers License limits me to daytime driving only.
5. I have my AARP membership card available at all times.
6. I don't have a HD TV with surround sound and a racing seat for comfort.
7. I'm a lousy tuner. I download setups and tweak them for my style of drivng with a wheel.
*gets out tiny violin* Seriously tho, who cares? Why do you feel the need to justify the cars you use at such length. The OP of this thread isn't whining about scoreboard cars as such, he's whining about people who are better than him beating him in popular cars. End of discussion.
Your missing the point Hoax. I personally think that it is more rewarding to actually earn a win than to run away with it in a leader board car. I have beaten countless leader board cars in close races in my C-class Silvia S13.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
RE Muscle cars/60's-70's cars:
I think that most people are overlooking the fact that these cars are completely upgraded except for tires. That means that there are only 2 things that a stock '69 Charger have in common with an A850 Charger are the tires and body. Everything else is modern racing parts/upgrades. Basically you have 2007 race car with a '69 shell (body) and '69 tires. The same can be said for any other car that is heavily upgraded, they aren't the car you bought off the showroom floor.

I hate muscle cars. if I wanted to drive cars built in the 60's and 70's, I sure as hell wouldn't have bought a racing game made in 2007.
1. Isn't he even prouder that he didn't just go take the car that was No.1 and steal the setup, and instead TOOK A RISK and made a car fast FOR HIMSELF? 2. If you have the time and knowledge to drive a sim, learning to properly use the gas and brake and hit the apex etc, how could you not have time to learn to tune? 3. Is a lotus a muscle car? AND I love cars from all eras. I'm a huge car fanatic when it comes to historical cars. go to my Youtub page and look at all of mysubscrptions (brianmollineau), you'll see that 90% of it is links to guys with historical racing vids. I live for historical racing. Whe the drivers were fat and the tyres were skinny. And places like Monza and Silverstone hadn't been chicaned to death. My Fav car EVER is the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT california Spyder (The 1960 short whelbase version is the most beautiful car EVER BUILT.....EVER) Some other fav's of both road and racing cars are : 1951 Ferrari 375 1962 ferrari 250 GTO 1971 312 P 1958 Ferrari Testarossa 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder 1958 Ferarri 412 S 1970 Lotus 72 1987 Porshe 928 (the scarface car) 1978 Lotus 79 1975 Ferrari 312T 1936 Auto Union Type C 1937 Mercedes benz w125 1957 maserati 250F lightweight 1962 Lotus 25 1967 lotus 49 1961 ferrari 156 Dino 1934 Voisin C27 Aerosport 1938 Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupe Unfortunately the only car available is the GTO, however I like the Series 1 model a lot more. This 250 GT LM version that's in the game isn't my cup of tea. This is a botch job cause enzo couldn't get them to homologate the LM so he put features of the LM onto the GTO. But even I know that no matter how much you upgrade these cars, its still the same aerodynamically terrible shape. Not to mention that you can only upgrade a car so much. things like having the engine as a stressed member si not something you can just build into the car using off the sehlf upgrades like those in forza. When a car runs its course ofdevelopment, that's it. Why do you think F1 teams make new cars every year? There's only so much upgrading can do. And there's no way even an upgraded 2007 car is gonna beat a 2008 car. NO WAY IN HELL!!! AND, in case you are unaware, tyres play one of the most important parts in the handling of the car. The only connection between the road and the car is the contact patch of the tyres. You may remember in the 2003 season the problems that Ferrari had with their bridgestone tyres. The car itself was fast, but the tyres let them down. The same happened to Michelin in the wet until they got it sorted in 2005. The B-stones could run circles around them. All of a sudden teams like Jordan showed pace, why cause the TYRES sucked on the Muchilen runners. Now that's comparing tyres made in the same year. Imagine comparing tyres made 30 years apart. And you can see how ridiculous having a 1000 hp car on stock tyres dominate really is. Today's tyres are made of close to one hundred different ingredients and compounds. Some of them not even available to science when those stock 70's tyres were made.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
sleep, im only going to say this. What YOU consider fun to do in Forza is not automatically what everyone considers fun. Obviously many people enjoy using LB cars, and many don't. There have been too many threads on this website attacking people who like to use them. Too many false statements about how a LB car will instantly make you a better driver, and how the guys at the top of the leaderboards, and the true skill rank, would be lost without their cheater cars. So whenever a thread like this pops up, you can be sure that there will be people in here defending their right to use the LB cars, which is what it is, a right. Perhaps you enjoy running cars that are not considered fast. There is nothing wrong with that. However, Forza is first and foremost a racing game. The fact that leaderboards even exist is all the reason anyone needs to want to see how they stack up against the rest of the world. In order to do this, you must use the fastest car, or you are putting yourself at a distinct disadvantage. I like to drive non LB cars as well. We even opened a TimeRaceCars tuning garage that sells these cars to the rest of the community. It is my current obsession, finding new cars to compete against other non LB cars in all the classes. But when I want to take aim at the top spots, I will pull out my Elise, or my Peugeot, or Mugen, and even my Chevelle. And I am not ashamed to do it.
