Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Mis Burbujas:
Displaced: Snyder005:usually i keep a LB car in case, but mostly i run other cars like the 69 Z28, 35th Camaro, and GTO for speed, VX220 and Lancer Evo.10 for grip in A-Class. for S i use a TVR Tuscan R and a Fairlady Custom for speed, AWE Tuning S4 for grip and Exige Cup 240 for the Saleen Tracks.
They all look like scoreboard cars to me
I was wondering if anyone else was going to catch that. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif)
I don't know what tracks your looking at lol. The Z28 is only good at the Motegi Oval, but i drive mine on all the speed tracks like Sebring. The 35th Camaro is a unicorn, and i haven't seen a GTO in the top 100 for awhile (cept maybe NY and Sunset). The VX220 is nowhere to be found and the Lancer just made a top 10 due to Jed's amazing driving skill. The Fairlady Custom, an LB car, lol, just lol. The Tuning S4 is just a good all around car, and the TVR is a good speed car. The Exige Cup is an LB car, but i drive it on Mugello and Maple Valley to compete with the Saleens. I also added an RE-Amemiya (sp?) RX-7 to my grip arsenal.
I find it annoying though that people have now become to call any car that is somewhat competetive on a track a LB car. What that dodge charger ran a top 200, LB car, can't use that! That cars a missile car, which means its automatically a LB car, can't use that! The TVR is fast, almost as fast as the 432R, can't use that! Those Viper SR10's areall over the place in multi-player rooms, can't use them!
It gets annoying to make a car fast, but once it becomes TOO fast, you can't use it at all. It's like people want cars to be fast, but once they begin to set very fast lap times, then you can't use that car. Like the 787 Camaro SS, which came out of nowhere. Now its too fast and even the people who tuned it prolly can't use it else being labeled as having an LB car. I can't drive my 1969 Fairlady Z against speed built cars (like that new Pontiac Solstice), on Sunset Infield, because it is an LB car at Sebring Club, which apparantly means it will be an LB car on almost every other track.
Sorry, rant over, but the whole LB car discussion makes me sick...
Not meant as an argument, rather an explanation on my outlook on this whole LB car idea. If you choose to argue against my opinions, i will not participate in fanning the flames of such argument.

Yea, it's been funny watching the list of hated LB cars grow and grow over the course of the year. People still call the S class CLK-GTR a LB car even though it is nowhere near the top of any leaderboard. It's not even a LB car in U class anymore. My opinion is who cares. There are some people who enjoy the game by driving slower cars. Great for them. Then there are others who get their enjoyment from driving the fastest possible cars, which usually equals LB cars. Great for them as well, it is a racing game after all where the object is to be as fast as possible. In closing, drive what you want. If someone wants to think they're superior to you because they don't drive this car or that car then let them. Who cares.

Well said ....+1
Personally i dont have the skills to win consistently anyway. I just use which cars i want, depending on the mood of the room i happen to find myself in.

I purposely use cars that are 1-2 seconds off pace so I can come on the forums and whine about it later.

Mis Burbujas:Uh oh, I predict that this thread is going to explode in a ball of flames soon. Oh well, nobody can make anyone understand eachothers point of view, so to each his own.
Quoting myself for emphasis. The OP isn't whining, he's asking a valid question. Yes, I know this thread is one of many we've already seen, but he's newer on the scene, so chill. It's rediculous how everyone gets attacked around here for having an opinion. That's why I left for a while, hoping that people would calm the hell down over time, because immature crap like this makes me sick. Let's have a discussion here like responsible people and answer the OP's question, not constantly flame him for it.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
As someone who rarely runs leaderboard cars online (in fact, I've only tuned the R4 Audi S4 and the R1 Audi R10) I have to say that I prefer to run a variety of cars. But, I won't avoid running a car just because it has the "Leaderboard" tag. What I like to do is take a random car and get the best out of it. Sometimes, as with the D Class Trans Am, that can be very successful. Other times, such as the time I entered a D Class Maple Valley endurance online with my '07 Civic it can and in ignominious failure.
So, I have no problem with people running leaderboard cars - I just prefer not to myself. What does annoy me though is when you have a nice diverse room going and someone jumps in in say the Renault 5. That's not a problem in itself, for a lower skilled driver it can even things up enough to create some good racing. But, if that driver then goes and wins the first race by 600m, then sticks with the same car for the second race (and more!) then the rest of the room ends up in a situation where they either have to effectively run another race, or break out the leaderboard cars. I've been in rooms where people have won that first race by a country mile, had the gumption to see the nature of the room (and where their skills fit in), and they've voluntarily changed to a non-leaderboard car. Those have often ended up amongst the best public rooms I've been in.
My conclusion is that we shouldn't hate on the leaderboard cars. The problem is the people that will jump in a room and continue to use them even when the rest of the room is obviously running a diverse mix - they can easily destroy the feel of the room. So please, just use some common sense when you jump into a room. It's not the cars that cause the problem - it's the attitude of some that use them.

This post is right on the money to what I'm getting at. Well said. I really enjoy diverse competitive rooms, and frequent LB car usage ruins the "flavor" of the room. But again, to each his own.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
I would rather be competitive in a room. Usually I race with the same bunch of gamers, so the LB cars aren't much of an issue. It seems that some gamers want to complain about what the other guy does; I really don't mind unless the race is close and someone purposefully wrecks me from behind.
It seems the same/same stuff:
1. No assists.......maybe ABS
2. No LB cars..........unless everyone else is using them
3. No AWD cars........unless the diff is adjusted 20/80 :)
4. No intententional collisions.........unless you wreck me 1st :)
Anyways, let's all try to have fun and be a bit considerate and tolerant.
See you all online
PS Don't wreck me LOLOLOL

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
The only cars I own are an Elise, Mugen Integra, Saleen, Cayman, Charger, Stingray, F50 GT, Turbo 5, and Golf MkIV. 9 cars. Thats all I drive, or will ever drive. Those are the only cars you need in the game really. Why drive anything else.

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
Its interesting that some of the people that use just leaderboard cars also complain constantly about Forza not having as much cars as gran turismo.
I think Forza 3 should have just about 10 cars. 4 1970's muscle cars (30 years later and apparently man is unable to make anything faster), a couple lotuses and (hopefully) the 2007 toyota corolla (fingers crossed)

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
You have a race when there is competition. Winning doesn't hold the same place when there isn't a chance for most the players to win. I guess it's up to the racers you race against... It's not the cars, it's the racers. Some are really good and if they use a popular car for that track so be it. You can ask them to use something else or even leave the lobby if they refuse. I personally don't want to lose by a mile but I know I have a choice to decide who I race with. Most of the people in my lobbies make good racing decisions and those who don't understand the rationale. This is one case where you can consider saying, "hate the player, don't hate the game"

Re: Who here avoid using leaderboard cars?
But that is the thing Aetherischer, if everyone is in a leaderboard car, then everyone has a chance to win. You can't tell me that it is fairer when everyone uses a different car....... 8 Elises = fair race, whether you like Elise's or not. If you choose to dislike the LB cars, then you are taking away the great equalizers.

Exactly, "choose your battles wisely"
Or here's another one "if you can't beat'em join'em"
There's tons of ways to look at it.
