Help on how I should go about creating my design. (first real design)

Okay, I'm a total newbie when it comes to designing anything really good on these cars.  My problem is that I have very little artisitc ability.  After checking the Auction House and photos online of peoples' cars and seeing some of the amazing art work done to these cars, I knew I had to try my hand and come up with something of my own.  Problem is that what I wanted to do seems way beyond my abilities.  I really don't know how people do this, even after reading the guides that are sticky-ed.  They make it seem so easy, but when I went to try it's been a disaster.  I was wondering if anyone that's really good at this stuff could give me tips and point me in the right direction for what I should be doing with my idea.  I suppose I could just hire someone to do it, but I don't have the CRs and I really wanna try making something of my own.  Here's what I've been trying to do.  Not the exact picture, but of the girl.  She's a character in one of my favorite games, Persona 3.  I REALLY want to make a Persona car, but it seems unlikely I can do it.

When I design a person I always start with the eyes first.  Forget the rest of the image and focus on the one part.  Then after that work out the nose/mouth.  Face shape last...and then everything else falls into place after that.  Don't try to work on the entire image at once.  Break it down into smaller pieces...

Hope this helps and hope to see you give this a try!

Listen to Kat. She's full of good advice (and a lot nicer than most people around here). I know some people are going to disagree with me here, but artistic talent has very little to do with recreating images in the Livery Editor. It's more about experimentation and practice. I can't draw much more than a stick figure outside of Forza, but I like to think I've gotten the Editor sorted. At least when it comes to recreating something. If I had to make something original, well that's where talent comes in. And mine isn't very developed. Keep at it, and you'd be surprised what you can accomplish.

Eyes first huh?  Never thought of doing that.  One thing I'm not sure about is that when you make facial features what size should I start on and go from there.  Because I find it kinda hard to start on something that's huge and going small doesn't work well because you can't fine tune it.  Anyway, you're right about listening to Kat.  I check out the gallery and it's pretty amazing.
