OK here goes. I have finally pinpointed a problem that has been bugging me for some months. Only now, since getting a replacement box am I confident to describe the problem. At 720pVGA there is a frame rate pause every second or so. First detectable when the intro video boots after 'dolby logo'. Then once in the game, where any car rotates in menu there too is the judder, once into a race, again, frame rate issue every second or so.

Sometimes a reboot of the box fixes it, but the only 100% successful way of doing it is to go into dashboard console display settings and alter the resolution for a brief moment. Then switching back to 720p it boots fine. Hard drive attached or not the results are the same, aswell as being connected to live or not.

1080p produces a mismatched horizontal line of graphics halfway down the screen on some tracks.

My monitor is a dell 2707wfp.

Component does not show any of these issues.

Has to be a driver/game issue? My friends box uses 720p VGA and he says it runs fine. Could it be the disc?

Other games run fine, albeit they are all dl demos.

Anyone else heard of this problem?

I'm no expert, but I don't think it has something to do with the disc or the monitor, but the console itself. How other games react? Is your 360 placed on a well-cooled place?

Box runs pretty cool, up on a shelf with space around it.

What puzzles me is that there is no problem when using component.

Forza is the only title that shows this problem.

Good news! Today's Live! update for Forza seems to have fixed the above problem, so far every time I have booted Forza it runs smooth. Also the dev 's seems to have improved antialiasing (or lack of), less hard white edges of vehicles. Reflection textures seem high res again. Also, have not detected the faint audio click/pop as engines oscillate. Well done!

Bad news! The update has not permanently fixed my problem as I first thought. The judder is back, I even deleted all Forza 2 Live! updates and re installed the latest update, to no avail.

If Forza 2 is left in any menu for 5 mintues or so and then a race is selected the judder comes back, even if the previous races ran smoothly. But this is random, sometimes it can sit in a menu for 30 mins with no bad effects. A warm day or cold night, the 360 displays the same issues.

This problem is only in Forza, none of my other games.

What is going on? I can't be the only person in the world with this problem?!

 

 

Patch hasnt fixed it as I first thought :(

Even removed all previous live! Forza updates and reinstalled latest.

Only way to correct is to alter resolution temporarily as before.

Strange problem. Could the RAM be to slow and not synching sometimes with the video card?

 

Tested again with another forza disc, same problem. My friend also runs a VGA cable, he says he has no glitch, but I have yet to see with my own eyes.

Being as it works fine over my component, I guess it has to be VGA cable related, so I feel it is graphics driver related, hopefully this can be fixed with a live! update.
