Chrisupra can you elaborate on why you think this is horrible and why I don't have a clue? I can elaborate on why Turn 10 OK'd this, but if you think that decision should be changed you're going to need to provide some constructive feedback as to why.
The tire glitch certainly wasn't an intentional design I will give you that. However it properly impacts the PI of the car. If you put firestone's on the car instead of whatever the regular street tire is then your PI goes down. This is no different than having Avon racing slicks vs. Firestone racing slicks. The PI is impacted accordingly by the selection of the different brand of street tire.
When we ran the Zonda challege DaVinci was pining to me about how he felt many of the other really fast times were being set by utilizing this particular glitch. At the time I knew about it but did not know how to perform it. I brought it up in an email to Che and he asked me to find out about the glitch. I told him how it was done and what sort of impact it had. When it comes down to how serious this "glitch" is I said not really because it properly impacts the PI of the car. In some cases yes that certainly allows you to make a better build, but the build itself is still calculated properly.
In a lot of cases replays of the top 100 times you can't tell per-se what the setup or build is of the guy who ran by watching the replay. There are undoubtedly many S-class times in the top 100 impacted by people who have used this particular "undocumented feature."
After the Zonda challenge and finally understanding how it worked Turn 10 was presented with a choice. To try and figure out how to fix it or to say it was OK. Given the accurate reporting of PI and the minimal impact it has in general Turn 10 said it was OK to use.
Now like I said you (and this goes for anyone) can feel free to provide constructive feedback on why they should change their decision, but just simply boycotting and calling me clueless isn't the route to accomplish anything.
