[Test] Photoshop HDR tool with forza...

Hi, I just wanted to test out the HDR thingy in photoshop, I guess I still have to practice alot, too bad forza lacks a little bit of hard numbers on the photo tool. but I guess it's good enough already

What HDR normally is, is when you combine three different exposures, one dark photo, one normal photo and one bright photo.

Nice! How many files are you using? An are you using unedited photomode files?

well, I first start with 3, once I get used to it, I might try and increase numbers of pics, for now I'm just trying to figure out how it works.

    Basically layer blending then?

I've been using Photoshop for years, it's just funny because I've yet to hear that term until now.

    Hadoq,
your pics don't need hdr to look good, seriously. Your hue and saturation work already makes things more convincing to the eyes !
by the way, if anything, scene rendering in Forza needs to be reworked, especially in the lighting and blurring department.. to top that, the way cars reflect the environment would need some work as well ! This has already been discussed over and over though :)

File-->Automate-->Merge to HDR.. pick 3-5 picture files of the same shot just at different exposure/brightnesses from light to dark.

Good choice, you'll love the camera. Is it a D40 or D40x?

By the way, good idea with the HDR pics. Big Smile [:D]

Nice editing.  The other day I was searching through Flickr and came across this, and I thought it was a nice example.  It especially looks good to me because I know the spot where it was taken and that it normally doesn't look this beautiful.  The caption says it was made of 13 exposures.

    Hadoq:

Man I am so jealous. I'd take any DSLR Nikon at this point. I have a really nice N80, but film can get so expensive. I would love to be able to snap off a ton of pictures on any given thing w/o over thinking my shots to death because I can't afford medium and developement costs. And I could use all the lenses I already have. I really want a nice wide angle (like the Nikkor 14-35) and a good macro. One of these days....

D40, I kinda was on a budget and I got told the X doesn't worth the extra money

I'm getting started, I've done some photo before, but just a little bit cause my camera was so cheap... I've been waiting for this since a while, now I'm getting it ^^

edit: if you already have lens, you shouldn't go for a D40 or D40x since they required motorised lens, you can use some "regular" ones but then you're all in manual.

N80 uses the same mounts (newer AF-S G lenses). But the way things are going right now maybe lenses will change before I can get a DSLR anyway....

Re: [Test] Photoshop HDR tool with forza...

yea I know about the lenses, actually there are many things to consider.

1st, I'm not what you can call "rich", I do what I can to get my stuff, I had to save for almost a year to get my X360 (wich broke on the 1st evening...) so you get an idea how long I had to save to get a DSLR camera, actually I could afford one because of the economic context, now €1 is approx $1.5 so for europeans, buying stuff in US (i.e. ebay) is interesting cause the prices are the same in € or $

something that costs €500 here, costs $500 over there, so because of that, I could afford a DSLR from USA.

now, I'm a beginner, maybe I can get cool shots done, I know I like doing that, but it doesn't change the fact that I have to learn ALOT from the basics.

I enjoy having good stuff around, I'm a musician and over years I could collect pretty cool and rare instruments. I know if I really want a camera, I'll want a GOOD one, but that I can't afford.

so I figured out I'd get a cheap DSLR, yet decent, so I can learn with it, and keep improving. I still need to get a job (by the way, if you feel like it, you can stop by the thread wich is linked in my sig, I'll appreciate). So once I get a job, I'll start making projects and plans, wich would probably include saving for a VERY good camera then.

I doub't I'll buy $1000 of lenses (wich could also be the price of one of em), all I wanted was something I could improve with, something serious, yet affordable. For approx €400 shipping included, I got almost everything I needed to get started, so I'm happy (well I will when I get the package)

I'll post my shoots around here anyway ^^

Re: [Test] Photoshop HDR tool with forza...

I posted on your petition I guess you'd call it, yesterday, I hope you get hired. My opinion on lenses vs. bodies has always been I would rather spend the $ on the lens than the body. Granted the D40 does not have the same ISO range, megapixels (which only really matters if you blow up your images or photoshop a lot when considering the D40 is 6Mp) but if you put a poop lens on a D2X, the shots are still gonna look like caca. My N80 was expensive at the time, and I only got it because I got a deal, otherwise I would have picked up a N70. Lenses really are what make the shot, hence why some are so expensive. I would rather have your camera and a $600 fixed 100MM over a D2X anyday.

And that's awesome about the cost being the same from USD to Euros. so you basically saved 100 euros! Can't wait to see your pics! The one filter I would seriously suggest you pick up (if you haven't already) is a polarizer. Really can make a huge difference in your shots, especially anything that has some sky in it....

Re: [Test] Photoshop HDR tool with forza...

Hey Hadoq, Im sure you will pick up photography pretty fast. Also you have a great headstart considering you know your way around photoshop.
If your not Locked into buying a NIkon. You should check out pentax. I own a K10 and its the best camera that I have ever owned. Also in all the comparisons that I have seen it beats the nikon. Now I know the K10 might be out of your price range at the moment. But pentax does make a pretty substantial and great line of SLR cameras.
Heres a couple shots from my latest vacation.

These have NOT been edited in any way.^^^CLICKY^^^

I really didn't look for the BEST SHOT or THE BEST LIGHTING. I just kinda shot everything I saw and came back from 2weeks with 2500 photos. Only about 100-200 of them are REALLY REALLY good. But thats just how the cookie crumbles I guess haha.
