[community] I'm asking for your support here - T10 application

Hi everyone, it's been a couple of days I'm thinking about doing this, I have the feeling it could help a little.

there'll be some to read here, but please, make sure you read everything before you reply, this is very important, at least to me.

Allright, so let's start a little by who I am, in forza.

So I started the game back in forza 1 days, where I was part of the drift community (former blackjack member, even tho I've had to quit the team before the highlights, no bad feelings), I basically played FM1 until FM2 day 1 and I still play it once in a while (kaido !).

FM2 was my game, my time, my chance, I got a hook on a good idea: selling my tunes, I just wanted to make money back then, and I couldn't paint so I thought I'd try and sell tuned cars, the rest is history (yea I know it's pompous eh ^^).

So recently, I went to painting with a decent success as well.

Overall, I believe I became, overtime, not only a member of this community, but I also have the feeling I have to serve the community furthermore, I want to do more, I want to really make it count cause I love this game, I love this community, I love what we did, alltogether, getting this game up to the top of racing games and -I know what I'm talking about- one of the VERY BEST online community I've EVER seen, and as said, I totally know what I'm talking about.

    so here's my point here:
I actually applied, like 10 days ago, for a job at turn 10, I've sent an email, got a reply asking me where I was from, replied, and I'm waiting for the reply.

in the meanwhile, it became official that T10 were recruiting, so I thought I'd make my application official, and I'll see if -hopefully- I could get support from the community to help things out here.

Of course I woudln't apply for a job if I had nothing that could help somehow so basically, there are a few things I thought I could do and I'd be experienced in.

    • I've got experience in communication, writing news, advertising etc...
    • I've got experience in translation (I did localisation stuff before, from english to french, but I can also speak some japanese -I used to live there- and german conversation)
    • I've got experience in community management, I was professionnal forum administrator on a forum full of 14-18 years old scooter fanatics, facts being that I had to get the forum from a total mess and get it up to the best forum of it's type in France, the company is www.maxiscoot.com, I'm not there anymore now tho.
    • I'm a music composer, I can play several instruments as well, my main being the piano. but I can use a recording studio if needed, including microphones etc... of course
    • I believe I can take pictures (actually won the photomode comp a few times)
    • I can work with a team, for a team and I'd be willing to work my a$$ out for this one
    • I can move right away if I'm asked for
    • I can decently use computers, I'm no programmer but I've had computers since the commodore 64 back in the 80s (haha even learned basic at the time ^^ I guess that's no use now lol) and never stopped using them since then. Basically I can use most basic softwares within a minimum amount of time (took me 2 hours to understand cubase back in the days, not more for photoshop etc...)
    • I LOVE cars
    • I happen to drive mine on track once in a while (not very often tho, I admit it
    • I've been in gaming world since my early childhood, never stopped and I'm almost 30 now.
    • I'm almost 30 and I'm unemployed, in a small countryside city where my only fr1kin hope is to get a job for minimal rate in a factory that might close within the next 10 years - oh and by the way, I have decent contacts in a tire factory (continental) since I used to work there sometime and I got family working there -engineer and stuff- since years.

anyway, there's probably something I could do over there @ turn 10, I'm willing to do anything I'd be asked for as long as I can do my best for the community and help getting the next big thing as big as possible with all my strength.

So, I'm asking you, the community, to give me a hand here, now, cause I wouldn't be here without you, I owe you everything that forza actually did to me in my real life, self confidence being the most important, but not the only thing. So now, I want to move further and get a hold on a chance to somehow pay you back. Of course I really want, and need a job, but I can promise you, all, that if I get a job over there, I'll do my best for the community, for turn 10 and everyone that's counting on me, I won't dissapoint you.

now that'd be very cool if you guys could maybe post a little message to support my application to turn 10 studios, if you have the feeling I could somehow, deserve a job over there, please post and support it.

I know there will also be flames in this thread, that's cool, I guess I can deal with it. but before flaming ask yourself a question: will it bring *you* some joy and happiness, will you feel better after it, will you have the feeling you did the *right thing* here ? why support me you might ask yourself ? why not, I'm asking for support, I know others might apply as well, sure, feel free to support my application or not, I won't force anyone.

    thank you all for everything.

If anyone from deserves to have this it's Hadoq. He contributes in the painting, photos, tuning etc. and goes out of his way to help others. He's friends with everybody in the community (except the odd paint scammer, I'm not naming anybody). As has been said before, if it wasn't for Hadoq and the [gs] guys, the tuning marketplace would be knowhere near what it's like currently. I'm certain Hadoq will improve things vastly.

And on top of all that he has a cool avatar and, I say this with envy, he's French.

Oh, I'm not so sure.  I think you ran over me a few times in Forza The Original.  LOL!

I'm sure the cream will rise to the top, and I"ve always wondered why they didn't grab you out of the community.  Maybe the time just wasn't right - until now.

Hope you enjoy the Seattle area weather.  (Don't tell anyone, but the "raining all the time" isn't true.  They just say that so the rest of us stay away.)

Hi, Turn 10 if your looking for talent this guy has it all.  Just look at his work.  He loves what he does and he proved it, with the work he did for Forza 2 community.  He's got my vote.  Don't pass this guy up.

Re: [community] I'm asking for your support here - T10 application

First, I want to thank you all for your messages, that's really nice from you all, with your help, I hope I can get the way to get it back to you.

You got a pertinent question here ncasolo (even tho, somehow it got deleted, maybe you edited it, I don't know), actually I did send my application email before this week's PPR, I'm looking for a job doing what I can do.

now with the PPR, they're officially hiring people, so I guess they'll need of course designers and all, but a company usually don't need only technicians or engineers, that's a whole staff with competences in many fields. I strongly believe I can serve a company like this doing what I can do, plus I really would like to get invested in something serious, and that I like, cause as said I'm almost 30 now and I have a kid, so I need to get a job I know that could get me started on a career plan. I have varous experiences and knowledge as listed above, and I know I enjoy and want to learn more everyday. I know Video games in general because that's more than 20 years that I play them on a daily basis, or close, I know cars because I've allways been into motorsports, I love cars, like most of us. Getting this job here @ turn 10 would basically be working in a company that has it all, all that I like and all that I know.

Until now I've had several jobs in several fields, but none where I was like in something I really like and something I believe I can master. But, doing all these jobs helped me improve in many fields, and I've got experience today. As for now I'd like to go on with my life and start a career doing something I really like and enjoy doing. I like communities, I like video games, I like cars, I like communication, I like photography, I like to work with dynamic people (we don't have that here in france, well yes we do but the system how it goes here is made so someone like me would probably never make it there).

I've messed things up in my life, I admit it, I should have stayed at school furthermore and get some decent diplomas. Facts are, I didn't, but I know I'm not an idiot, I know I can do things, I know because, for some parts, you, the forza community, made me realize I had value in my hands. Of course, there were many other variables and now I see that as a whole.

There are 2 main reasons I want to work there
1st - I'm a father and I need to get a serious job I can invest myself in, so I can insure my wonderful son the brightest future possible

2nd - forza is my thing, it's been years now I'm playing the game, it's probably not sane, but heck, that's what I do and like doing, and I want to keep living around this world as much as I can. I realized that while I was in forza "world" I could really make a difference for the community, and having people around, encouraging me, supporting me, really pleased me and helped me. Now I feel that I have the opportunity to do even more, for the game, for the community, because I believe I'm good at whatever I'm doing for this "world", I might not be the best, there's allways better, but I feel that in a team such as T10, I can help making a difference somehow, because I would give myself 100% to it, without fearing losing my whole life playing a video game. I've been in very bad situations in the past, because of my gaming addiction, now I'm still a hardcore gamer probably in the eyes of the most part, but I've learned to let it go a little. Fact is, ok I did let go a little, but I miss that world. I wouldn't be able to play like I was before cause I've became more responsible as a father and I don't want to risk it all. I realized I need a job in something I could really give my being too, something I could use 100% or even more of what I'm best at. And that would probably be a job here.

Re: [community] I'm asking for your support here - T10 application

Yes, if you can get some of the unsung cars in the game. Renaults old and new for example.

Anyway I do hope you get a job there!

At the end of the day, a game is a game, so play it and have a laugh, rather then pulling out your hair out at the guy who's doing something wrong. If they fall, pick 'em up! Taking something too seriously takes away the fun, which ruins the game. ;)

Re: [community] I'm asking for your support here - T10 application

Hadoq:  Passion and desire cannot be taught, but required skills can.  If I were hiring at Microsoft/Microsoft Games Studio/Turn 10, I would first look for someone who lives what they hope to achieve.  The inner drive that makes them want to jump up in the middle of the night and do a little sketch or write down an idea.

That person or persons will accomplish more, exceeding goals expected of them, because they're never satisfied with doing "just a job."  A trained graphics artist who is uninspired within is an 8-to-5 type person who will "settle" for what's expected and never reach beyond.

Hopefully your passion will be one of the driving forces at Turn 10 soon.  Smile [:)]

Just remember, make sure that your not one of the thousand who enter and fail. Be the one of the ten that enter and make it in. I've heard of many cases like this.

This is definately a guy right here that would be perfect at managing a community. He has always seemed like the most professional guy in the Forza world from my day 1. He has made some huge impacts in our ever expanding community here as well, if it weren't for him there would be no tuning marketplace, which in my opinion is the most realistic and dynamic part of the Forza world. I could not think of a better person from these forums that deserves a job at Turn 10, heres to you man.

Every good racing team needs a Manny. Seriously, you could be feeling like crap and a coworker comes up to you and says "hey Joe, Manny and I are going to Starbucks? You want something?" How could that not put a smile on your face?

Or if you want to take the full name, wasn't Emmanuel another name for Christ? I hate to bring religion into this, but if you don't hire a guy named Emmanuel, you're going to hell.

Re: [community] I'm asking for your support here - T10 application

    Hadoq,

I would like to take a moment to say kudos to you for putting yourself out there.  You have a goal and you're doing what's necessary to achieve it.  Too many people simply sit back and let opportunities pass them by.  You however are being proactive instead of reactive and for that you have gained my respect and support.

I've been in the corporate business world for a long time.  I've seen what makes someone a good employee.  You have that inner drive and motivation to succeed.  That's something which doesn't always come across in a resume.  It's one of those untangible qualities I always look for when hiring new people.

If I worked with Turn 10 and had any input in the hiring process I would do my very best to bring you on board.  I hope the right person(s) at T10 will take notice of this thread and consider doing just that.

I truly hope things work out for you sir.  Good luck to you and please keep us posted with any news of the situation.

    Sean
