HLC Wk 16 - Happy New Year from New York

Well I'm not sure about those of you from across the pond but most of us in America equate New Year's Eve with Time's Square in New York and the ball dropping to bring in the new year etc.  With that in mind we've setup a challenge for our muscle car lovers (since it would be like pulling teeth driving a Lotus around New York).

This week will feature another mixed PI.  The 2006 Corvette Z06 tuned to a PI of 900 on New York.  Every thousandth of a second should count this week, but the balance between HP and grip with the 50 points you get to play with should be interesting.

Nice challenge Solo. It should be fun. Oh did I ever tell you I am better with muscle cars on speed tracks than what i am with a grip car on snake tracks. And New York is one of my favorite. So I will be hunting 1st 2 weeks in a row. You have made me get addicted to these challenges now when the next series comes out I am going all out. lol

At first I thought this was going to suck, but I jump at every chance I get to drive that beast.

I wonder sometimes where I would finish if I had some of the top guys/teams tuning skills.  I can usually hawk around the top 30 but takes, for me atleast, so much time tuning the cars by myself and it can become very frustrating.  Still, I really like these hot lap challenges, definitely lots of fun trying to keep on the dust trail of the top guys.  Anyway, this week should really piss me off good as I'm not that good with these muscle cars but as always I'm gonna try!

Noob York huh?  Yea, well, I like it ok but it is kind of crap.  I'm fairly good at it though but I do wish that T10 wouldn't have been incredibly dumb in building this beatifully rendered NY city and only putting one tiny little track on it.  I mean if you're going to do it then why not atleast put the long version there.  You would have thought with the city rendered they could have pumped out a bunch of tracks in that environment.  Oh well, hopefully in future DLC.

And since I see Abysium has decided to pile on about bumping me down I'll take the opportunity to tell him it was only 3 laps and that at some point in the very near future he'll be chasing me again.Stick out tongue [:P]

For real though, that was a good lap you ran for sure.  I don't know about being better than you either.  I'd say we're fairly even with you having a huge advantage on that stupid little track that should be banned from racing games for the rest of eternity...aka the nurburgring...lol.

Anybody have any idea when the challenge is going to be up?

Egads ... this is going to be almost as bad as the Road Atlanta hot lap challenge with the stock R390.

I loved that challenge. Stock cars show the true skill of drivers, without all the tuning and differents cars BS to screw around and waste time with.

I wouldn't really call this one a muscle car challenge. All you've got is a powerful modern car running on today's tire technology with 21st century suspension. Nothing like a '69 Charger, '67 Stingray, '70 Chevelle...etc.

I'm glad it's a modern Vette and not some '69 Charger that handles worse than a wheelbarrow filled to the top with cement. Of course people will still tune it for speed but at least there will be SOME handling. Smile [:)]

Amen to that.  I've gotten respectable in the ridiculous HP muslce cars but I'd much rather drive something that atleast handles a little bit.Big Smile [:D]

Re: HLC Wk 16 - Happy New Year from New York

I sent Che an email at home that the HLC didn't post as it was supposed to.  I also told him that he didn't need to make a special trip in the office to post it.  I was actually pretty excited about these settings so I hope we get to run it sometime.

Also since last week was the Greeksniper challenge next week was going to be a backone challenge.  An Italian car on Mugello.  I hope that comes to fruition as well.

Well, I thought it was me. My challenge still hasnt posted yet, but going through the thread, it looks like T10 didnt put it up. I guess that makes me feel better.

I have a decent build ready to go. Just waiting to see what others are running before I go posting my slow times.
