Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
Scarie, in a nutshell yes.
And Bob, freedom of speech yes, but you still have to adhere to laws, rules and regulations. read the Xbox Live Terms of Use and Code of Conduct again.
chespace:
When we get a report, we always check the car on the server to make sure the car is in fact inappropriate. I work with Landin and a team of folks over in the Xbox Live moderation team to make sure this is done at least a couple times a day (in batches). These are the cars we're actively banning for:
- Nudity and porn
- Nudity blocked but unlocked
- Money glitch livery (usually a scam)
- Drugs
- Profanity
- Racism
- Discrimination (and that includes the pink Cayman)
Snowowl:
The restrictions have been in place for about four years before Forza Motorsport 2 went on the market. They aren't anything "new" being imposed by Turn 10. The enforcement is being stepped up, that's all, because it is out of hand.
The categories of cars Che mentioned violate the Xbox Live Terms of Use and Code of Conduct everyone agrees to abide by when we create our Xbox Live accounts. Forza Motorsport 2 is rated "E for Everyone" which means children also play.
The Xbox Live ToU and Code are specific to Xbox Live's service being in operation, and governed by the Child Online Protection Act (COPA) passed by the United States Congress in 1999 (and since augmented) a full three years before Microsoft brought us Live. As a U.S. corporation, Microsoft must comply with COPA and violations thereof could shut the entire service down. Since last June, Turn 10 has been warning people in various weekly Pitpass Reports, through the Forza Motorsport 2 FAQ and numerous posts in the FM2 forums here, on the Xbox.com forums and other locations. We all have a personal point of view and that's great, however, we all must abide by Xbox Live regulations (as well as U.S. law). There is no choice.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
i want to get a ban on all cars with jesus or god and a cross on it. as
an Indian my people were killed in the name of the chatholic god and i
dont want to see that crap.
In this case, I would like to get a ban on all cars featuring white people since white people also killed Native Americans and enslaved African Americans. People need to not buy cars with nudity, racism, or anything against terms of service and they will fade out. Also, I notice alot more guidelines and stricter punishment for offensive cars as opposed to people online you deliberately belittle other racers and constantly use vulgar language. But hey Online play us not rated by the ESRB and may be subject to change! I have noticed a drastic improvement on auction house clean up! THANK YOU WHOMEVER MONITORS THIS! Not only is it not awkward to play Forza with other people in the room, but finding quality designs is much easier!

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
Well it seams you can buy this game today and go on the AH buy an "offensive" car and sell it back at the AH when your done using it. AND THIS CAN GET YOU PERMANTLY BANNED FROM THE SERVER!!! IF YOUR A LOSER WANTING TO GO REPORT PEOPLE FOR THIS DUMB SH*# JUST GO INTO YOUR XBOX SETTING AND TURN ON THE FILTER THAT BLOCKS MATERIAL CREATED BY OTHER USERS!!!!!!!! YAY I PAY MONTHLY JUST TO PLAY THIS GAME AND NOW IT'S USELESS. WHETHER I GOT BANNED OR I WAS ACCIDENTLY BANNED, I CAN'T GET AN ANSWER FOR MY 7 BUCKS A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!! SO HERE I AM WANTING TO PLAY MY CRIPPLED FORZA GAME SAVE AND I JUST FEAL LIKE GIVING UP. If I did get banned my response is "WHERE'S MY WARNING I'M NEW TO THIS GAME?" SO HERE I AM WITH ALL MY CARS ON THE AUCTION HOUSE TRYING TO MAKE EVERY PENNY I CAN SO I CAN TRY TO BUY A RARE CAMARO.....AND BAM I'M BANNED AND I LOST EVERYTHING? GRAN TURISMO COMES OUT IN ONE WEEK. PERIOD. THANKS FOR LETTING ME PAY 7 BUCKS A MONTH FOR THIS. THANK YOU FORZA. signed Blingswinger .... still banned for selling paintjobs I bought from someone else,I think.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
Well I'm kinda new to the game and I think my name just got banned. So why hasn't anyone brought up the fact that there is a filter you can turn on in your XBOX browser settings that blocks all material created by other users?I pay 7 dollars a month to be on XBOX live and I'm pretty sure a 12 year old needs a gaurdian to pay that for him.I would have listened to any warnings that I got about buying and reselling "banned paint jobs". You can argue all day that it's in the Terms Of Service, but the fact is that the TOS are just legal wavers making turn10 not liable for anything. They could write "We now own your soul" in there and noone would catch it. I want to here a responce supporting banning acounts from someone who reads the TOS everytime they see one.Well I put almost every car I owned on the auction house so I could try to win a special camaro. Now my account says it's banned and I lost all my cars. Really I can't get a warning? Not a 24 hour ban for the first offence?Gran Turismo comes out in one week and racing games are my favorite genre.I would like my issue satisfied soon or you can just assume that I returned my Xbox to the Gamestop and I stopped paying monthly for my gaming. Thanks, Blingswinger

Well, I would except I do enjoy the majority of the content that is appropriate, and blocking all of that just to prevent a small amount of innapropriate cars is a stupid idea. And for ignoring the terms of service is a real bummer on your part. You broke the rules and got in trouble. In real life, if you broke the law and claim you didn't know it was illegal, police laugh, and continue to arrest you. So its actually pretty fair for all of this to happen. It sucks it happened, but thats life.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
to all persons here or there,
when you signed up for your live account you agreed to TOS of microsoft.
when you buy the game you agree to certain ways to use it, read the manual !
after you put the game in for the first time and go to the paint shop there is a popup there about acceptable uses and behavior. and unless you click " never show me this msg again " then you see it each and everytime you go to paint !!!!!!!!!
as an adult( im more than double 18 ) it really doesnt bother me personally if some jerk wants to paint whatever on his/her car , but we dont have to look at it or buy it. if i want to see nudity i can legally find it . minors cant.
what bothers me is when i check a car to see if it has a decent design , and after waiting for the paint to load its more of the same crap ( however well executed the layering may be and some are truly amazing ) thats spammed all over the AH and it wasted my time.
there are definitely some things that go beyond nudity , straight to depravity, and im no prude, but you should only paint things that you might see ON THE ROAD/ AT THE TRACK/ OR POSSIBLY IN A CAR SHOW. PERIOD.
hopefully Turn10 gets the message out that they wont tolerate it and keep banning the morons that violate.Keep in mind turn 10 has not ELIMINATED racy/ sexy stuff , they just dont want it sold unlocked if it could violate TOS after removing obscurring banners or clothes etc..... find post by CHE. quoted a few before this one.
ive purchased some of the nudity on cars simply for the price of the parts alone in many cases by just going through the AH and doing a price search and bid w/ out looking.
got some cool race liverys that way too. ive bought other cars that violate TOS for ideas that they may contain somewhere on them for my own personal use, whatever that may be. I dont resell them until i change it up and lock it so it doesnt violate TOS, if i resell them at all on the AH. sometimes you can buy at 5-6k and take it straight to your garage and resell for 50-150k profit depending on the car/parts build up.
lets not stick our collective heads in the sand and say it is not a problem or ignore it lets just fix it. bottom line is and always will be SEX SELLS. !!!! again they are not saying it cant be sexy just not completely nude or pornographic etc... SEE TOS IF YOUR STILL CONFUSED.
they game is suposed to be about cars and our love of them.PERIOD .
TURN10 has been kind enough to give us the POWER to design truly awesome in game paints , lets not let a FEW IDIOTS ruin it for the rest of us.
peace

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
I really don't want to sound like the jackass here.. but, although there's a terms of service, people will always find ways to violate it. That's why there's a warning on the front of all Live enabled games that says:
Game Experience May Change During Online Play.
While I don't condone the acts that some people do on Live, I do believe that the wrong people are being targeted. What about those kids that play games like Halo 3 or Call of Duty with the mouths of an old drunk?
Last I checked you had to be 18 to buy games like the aforementioned. Shouldn't those be the accounts that get banned? There's nothing that I can't stand more than a trash talking teenager or young child that's playing a game that you have to be an adult to buy.
I rest my case.

I wish there was a Forza police that could deal out fines so you had to pay credits for innappropriate designs or behavior.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
I agree with Hibbyy as far as listening to loudmouth kids but as for the guy who got his account froze, I think Xbox and the gaming community as awhole would like to see people like yourself go to playstation3 or the Wii so big people can enjoy the game the way it should be. I am in the AH right now and I am looking at a Mini that has a naked girl bent over. She is plastered on all sides plus the hood. Now I am sure the Seller (MaxPowweer) is going to be on here as soon as his account gets band. Right now my wife and daughter are nt home but I would be very mad if either of them walked in and saw this. She is 9 and doesnt need to see stuff like this. I have no problems reporting people. If your gametag is jacked up and wrong, I will report you. If you are cheating, yep, I will report you. This wouldnt be such a topic if parents were parents and did their job and quit letting the Xbox and cable raise their kids.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
I don't know if this is a related issue or not, but after updating Forza2 tonight I found I wasn't allowed to have a customised paint scheme either in single or multiplayer modes. I didn't have any offensive logos or anything, just a shiny black scheme with "Shadow" printed on the sides. When I start up Forza2 it says I have set my console to deny member created content but I haven't. Gonna end up trading it in. I really love the game but half the fun is in creating a paint scheme.

Re: For cars that are "against policy"?
Dear sirs,
I understand the rules of conduct. but a warning before being banned from a server and a chance to correct the problem instead of an outright ban is more benificial wouldn't you think?
I have been renting F2 for months then it finally dropped in price and I bought it. i made some cars to sell ( just like everybody else is!) and now I can't use a key feature of the game. That sucks.
I never got a warning or anything and I have only made a few cars that some people would consider offensive. And I have seen a whole lot from other people. I am just saying I am an occasional gamer and think that this action is unfair.
Xbox live should be free.

the possibility that young kids may be playing forza these days is the exact reason this is fair. the terms are clearly stated in the forums and in many other places. the terms and conditions are considered your warning, any action after that is considered a violaion of policy.
if xbox live was free there'd be twice as may people as well as twice as many problems. servers would crash more often and xbox live "maintenance" would take twice as long. keep the price as is or make it more expensive. more expensive=less users=better connections.
