Dunno if I can still get a Uni or if this was mentioned already but, but during WWII the German military recognized the Jeep as being so superior to its own Volkswagen variant, that a general order was issued to the German military to capture and use the Jeeps over their own vehicles whenever possible. Kinda funny considering their philosophies.

Good read and Im always a fan of  a Willys jeep.

Not really about the Jeep per se, but two facts that I thought interesting...

-The Americans had so many Jeeps that the Germans believed that every GI got one standard issue (Nearly 700,000 were produced!)

 - One Jeep received the Purple Heart (supposedly, was unable to confirm) after surviving two beach landings. 

- In an incident in Belgium, three undercover Germans were stopped by a sentry when he noticed the Colonel was in the back seat. When asked how he knew, he stated that if it HAD been Americans, the infantryman would have been in the back seat, and the Colonel would have been driving.

 - The original Willy's "Quad" prototype had 60 bhp and 105 lb/ft torque.

Hope you find some interest in those, but if not, I did, so it's a win either way :D

My father was born in one of these jeeps.
My grandfather own one, and when he driving my mom to hospital, the carburetor or something, broke down. She gave birth to my father in this car:)

We have photo of my mom siting with my father in arms. If i find it, I try to post.

Talking about a classic car, few would care to mention the Willys Jeep and its

endless list of variations. But, hey, after all this one here is that started the whole offroading experience and spawned various wannabes. This and the original Land Rover if you ask me.

Kudos to all those guys who cherish these Jeeps and restore them. They are an essential

part of automotive and military history!

Just take a look on the low level french clone,built from 1981 to 1998,Renault engine powerred......,from 34 to 75 hp.

OMG , i m now ashame to be french.
