    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
... Don't get me wrong, I love the 360, just wish it was reliable and that MS would recognise all the crap that everyone is putting up with and at least make an official statement admitting there is a problem!

Not only just admitting there's a problem, but giving everyone free repairs until this matter is straightened out. I see quite a few people from the UK are receiving the free repair treatment (in this thread) when they mention their Forza issues; It would be great to also see that in other parts of the world.

No matter though, because if this situation isn't handled how people want, people will do something until it's how they want it handled...

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

Do you think so?  I am not so sure.  The problem with 360's dying has been around now for ages with what must be tens and tens of thousands being returned.  In the UK the national press has run the odd story and our consumer program 'Watchdog' ran a story on it too.  However MS deny there is an issue and even stated that 'there is no single problem and that each case has its own reasons'!

I would have thought that in the States someone would have filed a law suit or something against MS, I mean there isn't exactly a shortage of affected customers!  If this was a car that kept on braking down or engine seizing it would have been sorted ages ago?

Has anyone seen any other online petitions or databases so we can try to discover the true extent of this problem?

    1. Turners Falls MA.

    2a. Six months (X-Mass gift)

    2b. Premium, mfr. Date 4/28/06

    3. Since I got my XBOX 360 back in Dec. it has froze up a few times but just shutting off took care of the problem. I got Forza 2 the first week it came out, and thats when alot of weird things started. Like the door getting stuck closed, and the console would freeze up more often than before.  Also the console made weird sounds that were much louder than normal.

    4. A few times when I was on XBOX Live it froze up playing MLB2k7, and Need for Speed Carbon.

    5. I just got the box to send it back yesterday, and my console is still under warranty. I will be sending it out July 2nd to be fixed.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

I'm aware that the 360 dying problems have been around for a while, from various different reasons, but this is one game that will cause more to die than ever before, because of what it is demanding from the hardware.

I'm also very surprised that no one has filed a law suit, and as I said before, if this was any other consumer product that was used by a wider age group of people, lets say by businessmen and women, teachers, etc., this definately would have been sorted out a long time ago... But since it's "Just a gaming console" for "kids" as is the stereotype, I think its receiving a different treatment. I'm very happy to see that it is being brought up in the UK however, and I hope that this thread here is just a start of things to come...

I think a lawsuit is iminent. Microsoft isn't admitting anything, because they know as soon as they do, it's  like admitting guilt. I bet a lot of documents are being shredded internally right now :-). Wikipedia link to the problem:

And, one lawsuit filed due to damages caused by a firmware upgrade:

    2.a. I got it at launch 2nd December 05
    2.b. Core system

    3. I didn't get 3 red lights. My 360 would power up fine, I could navigate the dashboard but when I tried to play any game the concole would freeze.
    4. I didn't have any problem with the demo. The first sign of any problem was only when playing forza2, during a game it would flicker. It never happened on any other game.
    5. My machine is in Germany at the moment for repair. I haven't been told of the cost yet or the problem. I assume it is the graphics card.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Where are you from? Myrtle Beach, SC
2.a. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 6.5 Months
2.b. Do you know the Manufacture Date and/or Model? (ex. Core, Premium, Elite)
    Premium
    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. I put Forza in and went to an arcade race. It froze up the second I hit start race. The screen was all jumbled. I removed the disk and tried to reboot just to the home screen. It froze up before I ever got there. I tried this about 3 times before the red lights showed up.
    4. Has your 360 had issues with Forza demo, or problems on other games besides Forza? This is my 2nd 360. I got it in December 2006. I had not a single problem with this one. It never locked up once before. It worked perfectly. I really believe Forza did this to my 360.
    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
It is at GameStop right now. My luck the serial # on the 360 and the receipt are different. If they were the same I would have had a new one instantly. I may have had to buy another years warranty. Not sure about that. So now they have to call around to see why this is and how to work it out. Normaly I would be scared of not getting a new one, but, this store has taken care of me on two other occations. North Myrtle Beach GameStop (formarly EB Games) has the best customer service I have ever delt with in my life.

I just got my new one today 7/2/07. Just had to buy another years warranty (about $50). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone that got a replacement system, are you going to play Forza on it or not. It is one of the two reasons (Halo 3 of course the other) that I got the 360. I just can't see not playing Forza anymore. I'm not sure yet if I will play or not. Can't afford $50 every so often to get a replacement. I hope some answers are going to be released REAL soon by Microsoft or Turn 10.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Springfield, Oregon

    2a) 1 year, 6 months

      b) late 2005, premium

    3. I played 2-3 short (approximately 1/2 hr) sessions of Forza. I noticed no in-game issues, maybe aside from what appeared to be some execessively long load times, but I now get the red rings of death when I try and turn on the console.

    4. I never tried the demo. I've had various freezes in other games - Oblivion, Rainbox 6 Vegas; nut nothing like this.

    5. No, but I am very upset that my 360 which always has worked fine, now, seemingly because of this game, appears to be a $400 paperweight...I suggest MS does some testing of Forza 2 on the launch consoles and then see if they can tell us with a straight face that this all is just mass coincidence.

    1. Where are you from? Queens, New York
2.a. How long have you had your 360 before it died? 8 Months
2.b. Do you know the Manufacture Date and/or Model? (ex. Core, Premium, Elite) May 2006 and the Premium
    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. Hard Grinding Noises and Freezing.
    4. Has your 360 had issues with Forza demo, or problems on other games besides Forza? Guitar Hero 2 sometimes froze, understand there was a problem with that as well.
    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? Sent it in for repair, but still under warranty so I don't have to pay.

    3.  I was playing a race and the race started and the screen froze up. I then turned off then back on and it
froze up while it was in the start up screen. I restarted again and 3 red lights.
    4. This was the first time it has had problems with any game.
    5. I am calling up the repair center tomorrow (happened 2 days ago), i shouldnt have to pay because it is under warranty but it sucks to be out of my $300 system.

Re: Fill this form out if your 360 died after playing Forza 2

    1. Where are you from? > Australia

2.a. How long have you had your 360 before it died? >> 11 Months & it has started to play up because of FM2 (the box has only seen a few hundred hours of gameplay)
    ... BLOODY DISGRACEFUL!

2.b. Do you know the Manufacture Date and/or Model? (ex. Core, Premium, Elite) >> Premium (if you could call it that)

    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights. >> have not seen the red lights (yet) but if I keep playing I will.
Constant disk unreadable errors - Sound glitches - Track disappearing -  Colors corrupting.

    4. Has your 360 had issues with Forza demo, or problems on other games besides Forza? >> No problem with the demo & no problems with any other games.. EVER!

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay? >> No not yet, I bought my 360 with AMEX so I am covered for an extra year.

With all the "run-around" Turn10 & MS are doing I would be willing to put AU$110 (cost of a 360 game here in oz) into a class action against MS/Turn10 for selling me "dodgy" software/hardware.
(if someone would like to take the case on PM me)

The last thing that I am going to buy (360 wise) is a wired controller so I can use it on my PC, I was going to purchase DiRT but now I am afraid if I spend AU$110 on the game I will not be able to play it for more than a few minutes.

Goodbye to the 360 & hello to the PS3.... bring on GT5.

btw.. I loved the physics in FM2 but the lack of tracks was totally uninspiring, FM1 had more sole.

HINT: Before booting FM2 - take out the disk & reinsert it, it fixes the sound glitches :)

oh & vs, don't reply to the trolling twats - it's what they want.

    Class Action!

    1. Where are you from? Indiana
2.a. How long have you had your 360 before it died? Since August 06
2.b. Do you know the Manufacture Date and/or Model? (ex. Core, Premium, Elite)
    May 06 Premium
    3. Short summary or paragraph of problems just before you got the 3 red lights.  I'm on my 5th 360 now.  The only issue this one had was a disk read error when I would start games by selecting the game from dashboard (versus opening and shutting the tray).  The problem didn't actually "start".  I was playing in the morning with no problems.  I shut down, go to work, come home, turn the system on...and I get the red ring o' death.  No warnings, no issues...just boom...failure.
    4. Has your 360 had issues with Forza demo, or problems on other games besides Forza?
    No.

    5. Have you sent it in for repair? Did you have to pay?
Yes.  Yes.  I got 75% off because of all of my prior issues, and the fact that I attempted to get a warranty last summer but was denied because the support system was down.
