    Grid Order:

As expected Monkey took a dominant pole position at Suzuka, well over a second faster than second position. With Marchie and Champion not making the race this was the perfect opportunity for Monkey to score some valuable points.

Off the start the AWD cars blasted towards the first corner, with Ian taking the inside line into the corner and keeping Monkey behind. Richy followed in third position while KR15 and Rouge battled for fourth and fifth. Going up the hill through the twisty corners Monkey ran slightly wide and this allowed Richy to slip past and into second. Monkey was now all over the back of Richy going up the hill around and then down towards the hairpin. Richy took too tight a line on the apex of the hairpin allowing Monkey to pass him on the exit, with a slight bang to his door for good measure. KR15 and Rouge were then able to pass Richy on the run down towards Spoon corner.

Monkey was now released to chase after Ian and it didn't take long before he was jostling for position with him. At one moment racing towards Spoon after the hairpin Monkey moved out wide to try and pass Ian after getting a much better run out of the hairpin. Unfortunately he went a little too wide and slid along the grass at high speed. It could have been the end of his race, but he controlled the car and came back onto the circuit without losing much time. Monkey passed Ian a few laps later as Ian ran wide under braking for Spoon. Monkey was then able to pull out a very large gap in a short space of time, showing how dominant his performance was.

KR15 was now chasing Ian and catching him quickly. He passed Ian on the corner before the Hairpin after Ian ran slightly wide on the exit. All the while Rouge and Richy were having a close battle for fourth and fifth.

The drivers then began pitting for fuel and tires just before the halfway stage of the race. The positions changed slightly throughout with Ian passing KR15 for second. Monkey retained his lead after the cars filtered back into their race positions.

As the race came to a close the first three cars settled into a rhythm whilst Richy and Rouge continued to battle up to the end of the race. Richy managed to pass Rouge as he went wide around Spoon curve, but he remained close behind for the remaining laps, nearly passing him on several occasions. Richy fended him off as he crossed the line for fourth.

    End Results

    1.X3R Monkey
    2.Ianmr
    3.KR15 ONE
    4.Richy59
    5.Selective Rouge

Lol, you mean the Fail-o-rific WLR? Good prizes, bad series.

The BGT is a very good series. If it wasn't for the ETCC, i would be racing in that.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

as i've raced in all 3 series i feel that my view isn't biased, but i think the ETCC is the best series, with turn 10 sponsorship, a dedicated news team, plenty of side-series, dedicated members, a high-entry for every event and it's run more professionally than the BritGt (at least when i raced with it before)

Secondly is the WLR, it's got some great prizes and the main and side series that they run, along with their time-attack events are a winning formula, also racing without the braking line makes it alot harder to be fast, and no-assist racing is what it's all about,  the only thing that brings it down is the time that it's on, but then again, it's bad for me, but you can't please everyone...

Third unfortunately is the British GT, keeping traction control was a mistake i think, and also having 2 weeks between races is just too long. Another problem is mixing AWD and RWD cars which just causes controversy, limiting the amount of cars used is a nightmare, and higher Pi limits mean precessional racing, but it's still got some valued parts like a dedicated mod-squad and it branches out it's side-series into other racing games and also they have a race-report after every event, a good selection of cars and a strong BTCC series to back it up.

If i posted this already and it got moderated, then sorry, i couldn't remember if i pressed post, it's not a deliberate try to get around the mods :)

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

For those who think we ain't on the ball and don't consider us to be a serious series......

And we're all set to go racing...

Season 3 of the British GT championship is about to get underway!

The BGTA is about to launch the third season of our flagship Forza Motorsport 2 championship, based on the British GT.  Our first two succesful seasons have laid the groundwork for what promises to be our biggest and best yet.  In the coming weeks, we will be taking team and driver entries in the run up to the first race of the season, and we want you to take part.

These are the regulations that will operate the Third season of the Forza2 Avon British GT Championship.

There are two championships contested by series competitors:
    1) British GT Drivers Championship.
Points accrued by INDIVIDUAL drivers amount to positions on the table.

    2) British GT Teams Championship
Points accrued by the total race drivers in a single team. I.e each driver's points achieved in a single race are added togther to equal the total team's score for that event.

    Teams:
1)Race teams may consist of up to THREE drivers.
HOWEVER, the scores for the TEAMS Championship will be taken from the TOP TWO drivers from a given team only. This is so as not to adversely effect teams with fewer drivers.

This means that any team operating with three cars in the series will be able to score points each individually BUT only the top two drivers at any event will accrue points for their team.

Reserve drivers ARE still allowed in the series if the need should arise for them. They should be registered in the same way as all regular competitors and comply with the same regulations. Reserve drivers standing in for regular drivers CANNOT score points on behalf of the original driver.

Reserve drivers WILL, however, score points for their team as normal.
The ONLY exception to this driver rule is at test days where ALL drivers in a given team may take part. However if there are more than 8 participants the event will as usual be split over multiple lobbies and team drivers may not all be in the same lobby though this can be organised in advance.

    2) Team paint schemes do not have to be totally identical but it would help team identification if there were SIGNIFICANT similarities.

    3) Teams DO NOT have to run two of the same car. It is acceptable to have two different cars in a team. But again, we would ask that the liveries were similar enough to allow easy recognition of the team.

    4) Use of the British GT Championship number tag is MANDATORY and non-negotiable.
For Season Three this will consist of a replica of the REAL British GT3 number plate in use in 2008.

    Racing Etiquette:

GT racing is predominantly a non-contact sport. While it is undertstandable that on occasion some contact may occur it is not expected.
Where a serious incident occurs between racers there is a set procedure.

1)The drivers concerned MUST issue a request in the Stewards Enquiries thread WITHIN 24 hours of the event.

2)Each driver is able to offer evidence to the stewards giving their position on the matter but the thread MUST NOT become one of debate. If an argument develops, the thread will be closed untill the stewards decision is made.

    3) The race stewards will review the replay video and other evidence provided by the relavent parties and make a judgement.

    4) The judgement will be brought and action taken accordingly.

    5) The decision of the stewards is FINAL and non-negotiable.

'Judgement actions' can range from warnings, removal from race results to race bans.

Drivers who speak agressively to other participants either on the forums or during the races will not be tollerated and will be subject to the same procedures as for dangerous driving.
Insulting comments of any nature to the other racers or the stewards is wholly unacceptable

    Car Limitations:

In order to assure a wide field of cars there will be a limit of SIX to each make of car.
For instance there can be a maximum of 6 Ferrari F430's BUT this does not apply to the marque. Therefore there may be 6 F430's and 6 360's.

As the season is long, in order to give each competitor the best chance, each driver is allowed ONE car change option during the season.
In practice this means that a competitor is allowed to change the car from the one he/she started their FIRST EVENT IN, to another vehicle from the list of eligible cars.

The option to excersise this right MUST be reported to the Mod Squad so it can be logged.

This season, you will also have to submit your chosen car upgrades before a determined deadline. You must use these upgrades every race, and to change them, it would count towards your car swap.

    Liveries.

    1) Liveries used MUST look like ones that could reasonably appear on a participant in any REAL championship. Therefore NO anime will be accepted as a valid livery. Liveries can be of your own creation aslong as they would not look out of place on a real race track.
    REPLICA race liveries are encouraged.

    2) No abusive, inappropriate or otherwise anti-social liveries will be permitted.

    Technical Regulations.
    1) PI 950

    2) ALL Forza aero parts to be used where applicable.

    3) Tyre Manufacturer choice is FREE.
        Tyre Compound MUST be RACE.

All other tuning is Driver/team dependent.

    4) TCS is allowed on all cars as is the driving line for those who require it.
******ALL OTHER DRIVER AIDS ARE BANNED******

5)During races SIM levels will be set for Fuel and tyres.

6)Due to the nature of the racing, Damage will be set to LIMITED ONLY  in order to allow competitors to stay in the race for as long as possible and maitain the spectacle.

    Points Allocation:

Qualifying Points-allocated from fastest overall driver to slowest
    25-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

Final Points- range from Lobby A (quickest) to Lobby x (slowest)
    50-45-40-38-36-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

    1) The points alllocation will apply to both the Drivers and Teams Championships.

    2) Points will be allocated to those completing FULL race distance.

Where a competitior fails to finish within 2 laps of the end of the race he/she will be awarded points for last place IN THAT LOBBY.

Where a competitor fails to finish after the halfway point of the race, he'she will be awarded points for last place overall.
If the number of drivers exceeds the number of points positions, the competitor will receive no points.

Any competitor failing to finish before the halfway stage will receive no points for that race.

    3) At the end of the season each competitor will drop their two worst event scores to arrive at their final championship position.

The event score equates to the TOTAL points for a meeting NOT qualifying and race separately.

A zero points event, whee the driver was an active member of the series, IS eligible as a dropped score.

Where a driver has completed less than two events their results will stand unaffected.

    Race day
    The format will be thus:

    1) 4 lap qualifying

    2) 24 lap Feature Race + mandatory pit stop.

Qualifying times denote lobby entered AND grid position within that lobby.

The race is begun with a ROLLING START.
All competitors MUST refrain from contact with other cars during this process.

NO competitor is allowed to pass another car BEFORE crossing the line at the completion of the warm up lap.

ALL compeitiors are expected to form up in a grid pattern prior to crossing the line and commencing the race proper.

Prior to this, cars MUST form up one after the other. Weaving and brake warming is allowed bu GREAT CAUTION IS ADVISED. Anyone caught deliberatly brake testing or causing damage to anothe car will be dealt with by the stewards.

Here is the car list for season 3:

    Aston Martin DB9

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

And to round off season 2...

    Forza 2 British GT Championship

    Round 9 – Silverstone

The teams travel back to the UK and to Silverstone for the final round of the BGT. With so much happening throughout the season this always promised to be an exciting race. Team X3R have showed dominance over the rest of the competitors throughout the season, and it was a pity that both drivers couldn't make it to the final round. Fortunately for them they didn't need to having already secured the Team Championship and Monkey having already won the Drivers Championship. He truly showed he was the driver to beat from the start of the season scoring very highly at all rounds and competing in almost all of them. Well done to him, and X3R on their success in the championship but with X3R leaving with both its drivers for season 3 who will take over their reign as the team to beat?

There were quite a number of drivers who could finish the championship in a high position. From 2nd down to 6th the drivers were all close to each other on points going into the final round. Major points were up for grabs with a number of drivers unable to take part in the race. This race was going to make some major changes to the standings.

Qualifying for Silverstone was always going to be a major factor in this race, with it being such a tricky track to get clean runs around. With only 3 flying laps will the drivers all show the pace they had in practice, or will there be a few surprises?

Everyone who had been able to set fast times in free practice were unable to get their cars up and running to their full potential throughout qualifying. Some drivers were slightly blocked, some drivers made some slight mistakes and this provided times that were very close to one another.

Marchie secured pole position for the final race, with Luckier 2nd, Ianmr 3rd, Richy59 4th and Selective Rogue in 5th. This rounded out the top lobby.

Off the grid the AWD cars blasted away from the line and down towards Copse. With Luckier having started on the front row he has a margin back to the two battling Porsches through Copse and into Maggots. Luckier extended his lead throughout the first lap as the four cars behind him battled each other. Ian was in 2nd down hanger straight but he ran wide allowing Richy past and Rogue to close up right behind him into the chicane. Rounding Club Corner Marchie ran wide and lost time to the three cars up ahead. Ian re-past Richy on the second lap down hanger straight with Rogue almost following suit. Ian then began to chase down Luckier who had a huge lead within such a short amount of time.

As Richy, Rogue and Marchie jostled for 3rd position Richy ran wide on the exit of Chapel and both Marchie and Rogue passed him on the Hanger Straight. Around Stowe Marchie was very close to Rogue and was looking to pass him at the chicane. A slight misjudgement on the brakes sent Marchie sliding into the back of Rogue's Aston. Richy tried to capitalize on this but Marchie blocked his attempt around Club whilst letting Rogue retain his position so he didn't gain any advantage. It only took until between Abbey and Bridge for Marchie to pass Rogue and get up to 3rd position. He also show how much pace he had when he was released because started his charge after Luckier and Ian.

Ian managed to catch Luckier by lap 9 with Marchie also closing up on the back of Ian. By the end of lap 9 the three of them were getting quite close to each other. Marchie then decided to pit on lap 10 leaving the two drivers in front to continue their battle, and maybe slow each other up enough so that he could catch them when they came in for their pit stops.

Ian managed to pass Luckier when he out braked him self and ran slightly wide round Stowe Corner. Ian jumped at the opportunity and passed him and started to pull out a small gap from the Audi driver. Soon after the two drivers decided to pit, and they both pitted together. It was then up to their pit crews to continue the fight, and to get their driver out first. M&M Racings Pit crew was just fast enough, and Ian managed to pull out before Luckier. As they exited the pits they retained their positions, but Marchies gamble paid off, he was right behind Luckier and all over the back of him throughout the first set of corners. With tires that are up to temperature, he had an advantage over his rival. Down Vale and into the chicane Marchie was very close, and he made a move to pass Luckier. He didn't make it easy and around Club Luckier leaned on Marchie throughout the corner, giving him a much better run out of the corner and creating some fantastic racing. Over the next couple of laps the two of them battled hard but Marchie ran wide and lost a lot of time to Luckier. All this allowed Ian to increase his lead, and give him a great opportunity to win his first race.

The race then settled down, and this was only at half distance. For the remainder of the race Ian concentrated on keeping his car on the track whilst Luckier battled hard to regain the time that he had lost in his fight with Marchie. Marchie also pushed his car as hard as he could, slowly closing the gap to Luckier. It wasn't enough, and with 25 laps over Ian crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead and claimed his maiden BGT win. Luckier held onto his 2nd position with Marchie finishing 3rd. Rogue came 4th after having a quiet race with Richy finishing in 5th after not having the same sort of pace as the rest of the field.

What a race to finish a season with. A new winner for the BGT, close racing throughout and the absence of the champion. With these results the final standings in the drivers and team championship showed just how close it was. With all this from just one season and from some dedicated drivers, who knows what will happen in Season 3. With Monkey and Basco not taking part and also with the departure of Luckier, who will be the drivers/teams to be reckoned with next season? There has already been so many new teams signed up for Season 3 and with about 4 weeks until the first race of the new season there may even be many more.

    Pictures, in order...

Drivers have moved, teams have changed and with so many new people signed up, this could be a very good season...

Do you want to go faster?

Sign up for season 3 now!
