Re: Tutorial: Posting your Forza 2 photos in 4 simple steps

    ltlynX:
Since I've been seeing a lot of people not being able to post their photomode-pictures properly I decided to write you a short tutorial on how to do so.

Step 1 - Saving the photo

You can find your photos in the My Stats & Photos section in the main menu of Forzamotorsport.net. Here you can select one of your five latest photos.

I used an official screenshot since I don't have the game myself since I'm in Europe. So I haven't got any photos yet.

Once you have selected the picture click it with your right mousebutton and select Save image as.. or Save as..

It might be nice to save them all together in one folder, for example: My Documents > My Pictures > Forza 2 photos

Step 2 - Resizing the photo (optional, but recommended)

It's not that hard to resize a photo, you don't need photoshop or some other fancy (and expensive or illegal) tool for it.

First thing to do is to find your picture through My Computer > My Documents (or however you can get there). When you do right-click it and select Edit. It will open in Windows Paint.

In Paint go to Image and select Stretch/Skew.

In here you can choose how much smaller you want it to be. It depends on how you want to post your image and for what purpose, so that's your choice. For this forum I'd go for 50%. If you want to post a thumbnail linked to the original (see step 4) you could choose 25% for the thumbnail and 75-100% for the original photo.

    *note
to get the right resolution for the photoshop contest (800x450) you should resize it to ( 450/720 = 0.625 ) 62,5%.

After resizing you can save it, to keep it organized you should use the same name as the original and add _resized or whatever you like.

Step 3 - Uploading your photo

Go to tinypic.com or photobucket.com (there are more, choose one you like and if necessary register there). Tinypic doesn't need a registered account so I recommend that one.
The problem that every kind of website is different. That's why I'm only gonna tell you how tinypic works. But don't worry, every other website has a help-page, don't hesitate to use it if necessary!

On tinypic you immediately find yourself on the upload page. Hit the browse button, find the photo you want to upload and click Open. The adress to your harddrive location should be in the field next to the browse button now.
Add some tags if you like and hit the big green UPLOAD NOW-button.

Depending on your connectionspeed you get a page saying that it's uploading, but soon after you'll arrive at the following page.

Congratulations your picture has been uploaded Wink [;)]

    Step 4

Now copy (select > CTRL+c) the 2nd line of [i mg]-code below the line that says:
IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards

Paste it (CTRL+v) in a new post or the post where you want it. Hit post and there you go! You have posted a resized an rehosted Forza 2 Photo!!

Too large images are making it hard for people on lower screenresolutions to see the complete image. So if you really wanna be cool and help those poor guys out you can make a thumbnail, linked to the original pic (which opens seperately from the forum/website).

For that you need a small sized pic (around 25%, for more info see Step 2) and the original 1280x720 pixel photo you got from Forza. It should be like this in normal forumcode:

    [ur l="http://url.com/image.jpg"][im g]http://url.com/image_thumb.jpg"[/img]

where [ur l should be [url and [im g should be [img.

    with this as it's result:

    ain't that sweet?

Hope this helps, now don't let me see ANY black&white forza logo's again Wink [;)]

    *edit

    Extra info on thumbnail:

    elbass543:

thanks alot. i put my picture up with no problem.im having trouble though understanding the thumbnail way of doing it.maybe its just me but could someone please explain.

    Thank You

you gotta resize it, just like with a normal resize, but smaller. So instead of like 50% you make it 10-25% of the original size.

Then you upload the thumbnail AND the original photo.

When you have them both uploaded you put the url to the thumbnail between the [i mg][/img]-code and the url to the original photo in the [u rl=""]-code.
Keep in mind that I put an extra space between the first 2 letters so you can see what the code is like.

so the the code for a thumbnail should look like this (the URLs are examples, you copy-paste them from tinypic after uploading):

    [u rl="http://tinypic.com/originalphoto.jpg"][i mg]http://tinypic.com/originalphoto_thumb.jpg[/img]

again where [u rl should be [url and [i mg should be [img

This is a great post ltlynX! I do have one question: Is there a way to go back furthur than your 5 latest posts? I don't see any links on the forzamotorsports.net/mystats page that would let me see older pictures.

Again, this is a good post for anyone who is going to be working with the forums.

No, the site only stores the most recent 5 photos uploaded, so just post 5 images and download them before posting another 5, etc.
