    X3R takes 1-2 at Mugello

Yet another great race from the Forza 2 British GT series. At Mugello, we saw the X3R team take their second 1-2 finish of the season with X3R Monkey beating out teammate, X3R Basco for the first time.

We started the race with a full lobby of eight but we didn't manage to finish that way. Mugello proved to be a tricky track with almost all drivers making a mistake or running off track at some point during the race. Here are some highlights from Lobby A:

X3R locked out the front row with X3R Basco taking pole and X3R Monkey starting along side him. Starting row two was MARCHIE NASTY in third and BDR LUCKIER in fourth. Vortex 143 and Highcroft made up the third row. NGS Champion started in the back row with SelectiveRogue after lagging out before the start.

At the start we saw X3R Monkey and BDR LUCKIER jump to the front with their all-wheel drive cars and they led the field into turn one. BDR LUCKIER tapped X3R Monkey and he ran off road. He was followed off road by a couple of the other drivers but they all recovered and rejoined the race.

Nearing the end of lap one, it looked like BDR LUCKIER was going to lead the first lap but he ran wide at the last turn giving up the lead to X3R Basco. X3R Basco was able to drive to a comfortable lead.

After a great start, SelectiveRogue was able to pull ahead of several of the series front runners including X3R Monkey. With good defensive driving, he was able to hold the position for several laps. X3R Monkey finally got by and began chasing down his teammate.

On lap 11, we saw two of the drivers leave the lobby. First, BDR LUCKIER crashed between turn six and seven and then he left the lobby. We learned later that this was due to his game freezing. Later that lap, NGS Champion slows to a halt on the pit straight and then leaves the lobby.

We saw the first pit stops on lap 12 with MARCHIE NASTY pitting first followed by SelectiveRogue. Race leader, X3R Basco and X3R Monkey pits on lap 13 followed by the rest of the field. After all the pit stops were completed, X3R Basco still held a slight lead over X3R Monkey.

X3R Monkey slowly started to catch X3R Basco and on lap 18 he passed him for the lead. X3R Monkey held on to the lead for the rest of the race and takes the win. He is followed by teammate X3R Basco and in third was MARCHIE NASTY. Full race results here.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

The RS isn't eligible in the GT3 based series we are running at the moment BUT we have a new series starting in the near future which will feature that car and more.... GT1-2 based cars.

That's potentially alongside our foundation British GT series, the every popular HiQ BTCC and the developing GRID World Open wheel Championship. We MAY even have another series starting for low to mid A-Class cars.

    Rookies Steal the Spoils

Yet another great race from the Forza 2 British GT series. At Road Atlanta, we saw the Ultimate team take their first 1-2-3 finish of the season with the team beating out championship leader X3R Basco for the first time.

Championtakesthewin.jpgUltimate Motorsport locked out the front row with Stealth close behind in 3rd, and Basco’s worst qualifying performance of the season puts him back in 4th on the grid. Row three was Vortex143 to Ianmr and row five was KR50NE bring up the rear in 7th.

Ianmr had a great start as he was the only 4WD car on the grid. He went from 6th to 1st by the first corner, with Champion and Marchie hanging it round the outside. Going up into the fast complex Basco got run wide by Vortex, and dropped back to last. Champion held it and pulled out first. Due to cold tyres and under steer, Ianmr ended up in the grass. From this mistake Marchie gained a place and was now laying in second, not far behind his team mate Champion. Stelth was then troubled by Vortex and Ianmr which pulled him back to 5th when taken down the inside of turn 5. KR50NE was getting a great view from 6th position, as X3R Basco was 7th he could see all the action happening out in front. KR50NE didn’t put up much of a fight with Basco as he was running faster, and didn’t want to ruin their races. As he got up to speed Kris made his way past Vortex and Ianmr and was now laying in 5th. He started the hunt on Basco and got into a comfortable rhythm.

ThirdCornor.jpgChampion now had a lead of 400ft on Marchie and was pulling away little by little every lap. Stealth had his work cut out as he had to pull a gap on Basco and still needed to catch up Marchie, whom was making mistake after mistake. Marchie then ran wide on turn 3, which allowed the catching Stealth an easy way through. The pressure soon dropped for Marchie and Stealth as Basco had to pull over as he downshifted too fast and blew up his transmission. By now the three Ultimate boys were in a comfortable position as they new they we running a second faster than 4th, so they decided to relax and keep it cool. Vortex dropped back to 6th but he still didn’t give up, meaning the hunt was on for Vortex as he was 70ft behind Ianmr and 100ft behind KR50NE who was in 4th. Vortex made a move coming onto the back straight to gain 5th position. This was a wake up call for KR50NE, so he got his head down and pushed for the next lap. Vortex gained 30ft on KR5ONE, so this narrowed the gap down to 70ft for vortex to grab 4th position. On lap 9, Vortex made a mistake on turn 3 as he run off the track at the exit of the corner which helped KR50NE to gain a 350ft gap.

ThirdCornor.jpgMarchie pitted early as he didn’t want to make any major mistakes. He pitted 2 laps before anyone else and took the advantage on cold tyres to catch up some more time on Stealth. Champion and Stealth entered the pits on lap 15 as there tyres were just starting to give way. Vortex noticed this and thought he would go in as well. KR50NE took full advantage on Vortex's pitstop and done another extra lap. Champion and the pit crew had a successful pitstop which gained another 200ft on Stelth which now put it to 650ft. Champion came out the pits just behind KR50NE who was yet to make his stop.

On Lap 21 the race was very well split up and every knew were they were going to finish as it would of been hard to gain time on each other as everyone pushed there cars to the limit.

The race ended another 5 minutes later. Champion led it from corner 1 to the flag.
Stealth ended up gaining a position as he started 3rd and finished 2nd.
Marchie lost out a place to Stelth so he rounded up the top 3.
4th was taken by a very happy KR50NE as it was his first A final race.
    Vortex finished up 5th.
Ianmr rounded up the grid in 6th position.
Poor old Basco had to watch his car get pulled out of the gravel and took back to the pits on a trailer.

    KR50NE's Interview

“I was very happy with my result as it was my First A Final race. I was shocked I even got to the A final and was even more shocked when I crossed the line in 4th. The race was tough for me as I wasn't the fastest man on the track. Vortex put me under a lot of pressure so I used my head and kept it cool and calm to the end. Our pit crew was amazing as we did our pit stop the fastest with a time of 10.89 seconds. I would like to say well done to the Ultimate Motorsport Team as they have hit the nail on the head with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd finish.”

    Marchie 1's Interview

“Well, what a race! I cant believe we have actually got a 1-2-3 in both qualifying and in the race. Regarding the race performance, I was slightly disappointed at the amount of mistakes I made early on, but having said that, I have just got my best result of the season. I can’t wait to get back in that car, and get going at Laguna Seca. No-one knows what will happen towards the end. We are catching X3R, but who knows. What is certain though, is that I will keep pushing, and see if I can improve my driving to maybe get my first win.”

    NGS Champion's Interview

"All I can say is that I am speechless. I was very shocked when I heard I put it on Pole position and even more shocked when I heard that my team mates locked out the next 2 places. The team has been a great success and we are all very happy with the way today ended. We are over the moon with our Team Championship we have jumped from 7th to 3rd in 1 Round. The cars look great at the point end of the grid. I would like to say well done to Marchie and Stealth as they both drove a brilliant race. And a very big thank you to the mechanics that setup the car for this race. It was like it was on rails going round this amazing track."

    SelectiveRogue Takes Lobby 2 Win

SelectiveRogue backs up his strong performance at Mugello with an impressive lobby 2 win at Road Atlanta. Highcroft was able to battle back from a poor start to finish in second and jenson09 rounds out the podium in third. Here are some highlights from lobby 2:

Highcroft started on pole alongside SelectiveRogue in second. DRC GUUGE and jenson09 made up row two followed by executionerghost and Clay Gryphon in row three.

Clay Gryphon gets a good start and jumps alongside polesitter Highcroft from the last row. He led the pack into turn one followed by jenson09 and SelectiveRogue after Highcroft runs wide into the grass dropping him back to last. But, SelectiveRogue was able to make quick work of Clay Gryphon and jenson09 passing them at turn two. SelectiveRogue led turn one and pulled to a comfortably lead. Though SelectiveRogue had quiet run up front the battle for second quickly heated up as Clay Gryphon came under attack by both jenson09 and DRC GUUGE. Jenson09 and DRC GUUGE swapped positions as they both took peaks at Clay Gryphon trying to get past him. Jenson09 finally gets past Clay Gryphon and pulls away from him and DRC GUUGE.

Behind that battle, Executionerghost was also under attack by Highcroft. He was able to hold him back for several laps and on lap 4, Highcroft tries to outbrake him at turn 10a and punts him off track. The drama on track continued when on lap 7, Clay Gryphon spun coming onto the back straight and collected DRC GUUGE. This allowed Highcroft to get by both of them and executionerghost to get by DRC GUUGE. DRC GUUGE recovered quickly and on lap 8 he was able to pass executionerghost though he was still several seconds behind Clay Gryphon.

Highcroft was the first to pit when he went in on lap 11 from third. He was soon followed in by DRC GUUGE and executionerghost from fifth and sixth respectively. Jenson09 pitted on lap 13 and Highcroft's strategy to pit early worked as he was able to leapfrog him. Race leader, SelectiveRogue and Clay Gryphon both pit on lap 14 and come out in the same positions. After all of the pit stops were finished, SelectiveRogue was still in the lead, followed by Highcroft in third and jenson09 in third. Clay Gryphon still held fourth over DRC GUUGE though the gap was less than a second. DRC GUUGE finally got past him on lap 16. Executionerghost rounded out the field in sixth.

The race quieted down after the pits with the field fairly spread apart. SelectiveRogue pulled an impressive 20+ second over second place and took the win after leading flag to flag. Jenson09 started to close the gap to Highcroft turning an 8 second lead down to 3 but it wasn't enough and Highcroft placed second with jenson09 in third. DRC GUUGE finished in fourth followed by Clay Gryphon and executionerghost in fifth and sixth respectively.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

'By the Narrowest Margin' - Selective Rogue doubles up!

    by jenson09

The Lobby 3 final at Laguna Seca should have been a walk in the park for Selective Rogue, dominant winner two weeks ago at Road Atlanta. The DB9 seemed to handle well but the Jet Alliance driver complained of slight braking issues that hampered the race effort. Added to this he faced a field of four wheel drive cars, so nerves were certainly on edge at the front of the grid!

Due to problems on the warm up lap, jenson09 started from the back of the grid rather than a disappointing fourth. He felt he hadn't put in as good a performance as he'd hoped during qualifying and the second to last time was a poor result... one look at the time sheets post-race would frustrate him further!
By turn 2, however, he was in second following a coming together between the Porsche Turbos of TVR Fan and Richy59 allowing him easy passage up the inside. Selective Rogue made best of his grid position and held off the warring Porsches into Turn One, making up ground, only jenson09 in his mirrors. The THR Gallardo sporting it's one off special livery for the recently destroyed Weston Super Mare Grand Pier.

For nearly 14 laps the gap would shrink and grow as the two drivers traded off fastest times and pushed each other ahead of the fierce battle for third. Jenson09 was the first to pit, taking advantage of the close lap times and the large gap in traffic behind. Emerging behind CLAY GRYPHON, the THR man had enough clear air to knock together some useful laps. Selective Rogue pitted soon after and swift action from his crew meant he would retain the lead once the order was restored. By this point the Aston man held some 260m gap over the rival Gallardo, now in fourth.

TVR Fan and Richy pitted together and continued their battle throughout. Both Porsches evenly matched and neither gaining any significant advantage and the key parts of the circuit. CLAY GRYPHON continued his steady progress, suffering with an ill handling car on a track that requires a neat set up.

But while the two Porsches continued their battle, a silent war was being waged at the front of the field. Where before the pit stops, Selective Rogue had been able to maintain a healthy gap to jenson09 in second, now the gap was slowly dropping, with the THR driver posting increasingly fast times and shaving seconds off the Jet Alliance driver's lead. By lap 23 the gap was minimal, and by 24 the cars were within touching distance exiting the final turn.
On the last lap, jenson09 made a light lunge into Turn One but pulled out when he realized the car was nowhere near close enough. Selective Rogue shut the door, opportunity one gone.
Jenson09 maintained close contact up to the top of the circuit but again failed to make a lunge at the Corkscrew seeing no point in ruining what had been a great race. Opportunity two, gone.
Dropping back down toward the pits, there was nothing between them, the Gallardo held fast, jenson drifting through the penultimate turn. Selective Rogue covered the outside line toward the final turn. Jenson made his lunge hoping to block pass the Aston and cover to the line. Selective Rogue saw the move coming and watched on as the Gallardo drew past and ran slightly wide, enough to allow him to continue his normal line and draw inside to the flag.

    jenson09 interview:
That win was basically decided by 5 metres of braking. Selective Rogue saw the move but had braked early which made me think I could just about do it. Sadly I ran just wide enough to let him past and get the drive to the line. But it was clos and shows the car has good pace late in the race."

It really was a thrilling race for all involved and bodes well for the rest of the championship that action like this can take place even inn the lower lobbies. For Selective Rogue, another lobby victory, for jenson09, his best lobby result this season.

Roll on two weeks and the next exciting event!!

The British GT - Motegi Preview

Twin Ring MotegiWith 6 rounds complete, X3R Basco still holds the driver's championship lead but Marchie 1 and X3R Monkey have closed the gap. Team X3R still hold a comfortably lead in the driver's championship. Last round, X3R Monkey took his second win while teammate and championship leader failed to finish. He was folled by NGS Champion from Ultimate Motorsport and iGz ReMiX x from Vitaphone Racing.

The British GT Championship will head over to Motegi, Japan for Round 7 at Twin Ring Motegi. This season, they will race on the shorter East Course. The Twin Ring Motegi East Course is a 1.88 mile, ten turn track. This will be the the shortest track we visit this year and it should be an all out sprint to the finish.

Last season, Jimmy Storie lead all but one lap in route to a dominant win. He was followed by Horselegs in second and Highcroft in third. With added competion and several of the season 1 frontrunners out, this year should have different people up front.

Here are some of the key people to watch this race: The X3R drivers of X3R Basco and X3R Monkey will once again be the favorites after taking all but one win between them including last race at Laguna Seca. X3R Basco has shown slower pace in his Dodge Viper but after some testing he should be back up to speed. Another team to watch is Ultimate Motorsport. Last week, Ultimate Motorsport drivers NGS Champion, Stealth I ThC I, and Marchie 1 all qualifyed into lobby 1 and NGS Champion finished a strong second. With two strong finishes last race, Vitaphone Racing drivers of iGz ReMiX x and BDR LUCKIER will look for their first win after finishing last race 3rd and 5th respectively. Other drivers to watch are Vortex 143 of Gryphon Racing who has already shown the pace of several of the frontrunners and Ianmr of M&M Racing who won lobby 2 last week.

With their strong performances at Laguna Seca, X3R Monkey and NGS Champion should be the favorites this race.
