    Email sent.

EA really pulled a dirty move on this one. They are really going to be hurting on the Xbox front after this.

No they won't.  The amount of Forza fans protesting are minimal when it comes to their fanbase.  What's hilarious is the comments on here "Well I'll never buy another game from EA...except BF3, or a sports game".  Then what does EA care?  They got your money for something they produce.  You aren't hurting them at all.  If you're going to protest them, then don't buy anything at all from EA.

This sucks but I see now why they were so hesitant about saying anything about Porsche.  They wanted to do an official, detailed announcement.

I wonder if Forza 4 will have engine swaps to Porsche 6-cylinders.  They could probably get away with it so long as they never mention anything about it being a Porsche engine.

A petition for EA to fairly give modelling rights of Porsche models to any racing game developers and for EA to lose the exclusive ownership of the Porsche brand. Sound good?

We're not involved in the business aspect of this game, and petitions do no good.  Just move on, and if you're going to boycott anything let it be the use of "EA" in any posts here.  Why give them free advertising?

Snow they got the benefit of free advertising on the main page if that is the case. Turn 10 fully expected the backlash to EA or they never would have made the information public.

    sent my email too.

Now I can pre order forza, finding the honesty to tell us and not ignore us get my money.

I was going to buy it either way, but now I can feel comfortable in what I'm putting my money down on.

    good move T10.

maybe later on you can strike a deal with RUF to specially make a car for Forza.

Wow, this really sucks....  I drive Porsche around 75% of the time.  Not sure what this means for me purchasing FM4.  Thanks for finally confirming though.

If FM4 goes on to critical and commercial success that may influence Porsche not to renew their licensing deal with EA.

I don't know about you, but if I was a major car manufacturer and contracted another company to manage the video game licensing of my cars, I would want them to be good stewards of my company's name and image.

This will be the one thing that prohibits FM4 from being the best car game of all time.......very sad.

And I'm not even a Porsche fan.

This really sucks for the ALMS especially.  We can't have proper ALMS races without Porsche.Sad

Yea I don't get this whole "Official Racing Game of the ALMS"? How can it be that without Porsche?  How does the ALMS give out and official tie in with a game which doesn't even have one Porsche in it?

Re: Is Porsche in Forza 4? Is RUF a sign that Porsche is gone?

Well, this sucks, of course.  I've been thinking about getting the latest Hot Pursuit, but that's not going to happen now.  And no BF3 or anything else with that company's name on it either.  I've always rather disliked them anyway.  Any word on the RSR though?  Also, it would seem reasonable to me to keep hoping; there shouldn't be anything preventing EA from granting the license down the road and giving us the opportunity for a very nice DLC pack.

This is even more disappointing with the announcement of the brand loyalty system...

Finally, to solve all the problems, I think everyone that's currently sitting here typing at my computer would be very happy if you just traded the Ferrari license for the Porsche one.  But half the reason for me buying the LCE was to keep myself from having to stare at that awful prancing horse every time I picked up the game...I might be biased (:

Wow this thread blew up fast. There were a page of posts by the time I got mine typed between two races.

Still won't make me cancel my preorder. FM4 is going to be great that "under the hood" post was more good than bad. The rest of it seems awesome.

I am glad people are completely boycotting EA. A buddy of mine texted me telling me that he had seen the news about Porsche not being in Forza because of EA. He said he would be cancelling his preorder for Need For Speed: The Run and BF3. This is coming from a friend who is a Playstation and OtherGame5 diehard. I'm curious why manufactures give out "exclusive" licenses anyways.  Would they make more money and get more exposure if they licensed to everyone?

Wow, what a bummer that porsche is not in.  So my brand new GT2 wheel w CS pedals won't be driving porsches...kind of ironic.  I wonder if fanatec cutting the porsche branding on their new wheels is related.

Nice to have some news finally though!  Stoked about the manufacturer loyalty thing, I always thought that could be better implemented.  Definitely looking forward to hearing about the physics next week.

the manufacturer isn't giving out the license, they're selling it!

Re: Is Porsche in Forza 4? Is RUF a sign that Porsche is gone?

    @dgswear: 2012, I think?

As much as we would all love to get the torches and pitchforks for EA, I think part of the blame has to go on Porsche for doing an exclusive licensing agreement in the first place.  They could have shared the license with EA and Microsoft, or tons of other different agreements, but instead they went with only EA and they will miss out on a franchise that has made huge strides and is set to really take over the racing game genre (if it hasn't already).

I've got every Porsche in the game in my garage, but none are really my favorite cars to drive.  Still, I hope this license expires soon, and Porsche realize they need to share their cars with all the major game developers, not just EA, and not just those on the XBOX (e.g. Polyphony Digital).

I'll still probably buy EA games, even though they annoy me for plenty of reasons besides this.  And good on Dan for finally answering what we have all wondered for months; I know that I will still pre-order FM4 with or without Porsche.

Re: Is Porsche in Forza 4? Is RUF a sign that Porsche is gone?

This is a downer for me, I pretty exclusively race 911's. Used to own a 944, aren't a whole lot of cars that have the handling characteristics of a rear-engine 911. And certainly RUF will never match up. Obviously not gonna buy another EA product, not that, that is hard for me really. NFS is pretty childish.

I suppose I kinda back Porsche up on this, they build cars, not video games. One small chunk of licensing money isn't gonna matter much. Games like this do build loyalty though, I can honestly say Forza 1 played a role in me purchasing a 944, and the subsequent maintenance/merchandise. I do hope this changes. I do hope there is a measurable amount of backlash towards EA for this. Not that they're new to negative press though.

In the end, I know Turn 10 are car nuts and they're probably just as gutted as the rest of us. I can't stand Toyota but I would hate for them to be left out, because I know someone loves them like I do Porsche. Hope to see a remedy, was very much looking forward to getting the 928 and 356 in this iteration. Shame.

Re: Is Porsche in Forza 4? Is RUF a sign that Porsche is gone?

    Dear T10,

I think I speak to the community as a whole when I say thank you for sharing much anticipated information on what was probably the most hot topic within the community for FM4 rather than just ignoring or delaying the matter up until the launch of the game. We can see how much you have tried your best to obtain the manufacturer rights for the game as we can see that and whilst a great manufacturer like Porsche cannot be replaced, we must not dwell on it any longer and it is fantastic to see that you at T10 haven't either, including so many new manufacturers and stunning cars reaching out into every single category into the car industry. Furthermore, I am eager to know what 3 RUF cars you have and whether they are all garage cars (as we know 2 have been mentioned and are part of car packs!)

Thanks T10! Look foward to getting Forza Motorsport 4 on the 14th October when it is released! =D

To be completely fair here, there seems to be a distinct lack of Ferraris in Need for Speed lately.  Not that that matters to me.  More power to Turn 10 if they could keep fine cars out of NFS's reach.
