Noooo! Porsche has caved in to the diesel engine. I wouldn't have minded if it was a mega twin-turbo V12 like Audi but all they've done is put a shoddy 3.0 V6 into the Cayenne.

Unfortunatley the PDK has not been recieved that well as instead of paddles, the gearchanges are done with stupidly hard-to-use wheel mounted toggles. Doesn't bother me though, why would you not buy a manual?

Oh, I definitely wouldn't buy manual now that Porsche has the auto-shifters.  Its not like I ever learned manual and by the time I could actually afford a 911 I imagine that manual transmissions will have gone the way of the dodo bird. 

While I am sure manual is fun, automatic with the ability to shift yourself is to me more appealing.  Call me lazy, but perhaps I don't want to be shifting everytime I drive.

So, I'm glad Porsche took this step forward, maybe this will be standard some day.  Plus, I have read two reviews praising the PDK transmission for smoothness and then Sutcliffe says its the best available. 

One last note, Sutcliffe said what I thought for a long time.  He compared the engine note to that of a chainsaw, which is exactly how I thought the 996's sounded.  Though I might say they sound more like a buzzsaw and the 997's more like a chainsaw.

Only thing I don't like about or disagree with the article on is it more or less disses the GT2's looks.  Said the rear is too complicated and un-Porsche and that the front has an eggcrate for a grill.  Kinda harsh I thought.

The rear, to me, is the most exciting looking part of the car and the front looks like its got a wily grin.  Its as if the car looks impressed with itself, which makes me smile everytime I see it.  Ugh, only in pictures, of course.

I have no complaints about the looks of the GT2. I love the aggressive look it has, although I prefer the less flashy (lol) GT3 looks. Every time I saw one I had a minor heart attack.

Ok it's time to read that article.
