It is one of the leading brands but it drives me nuts when people call any nitrous setup NOS... that is like calling Mt Dew "coke".

I'll take any variation of the UTE... the Maloo is sweet.

We were going to get it... as the G8 Sport Truck... then they crushed all of our hopes and canceled it :(

Sad yea it sucks you aren't gettin it over there, maybe ine day it will be exported as a chevy or something? not likely but maybe.

On-topic, yes a full tree start would be better then the auto-rev thing, no theres not much hope of it getting in game, and yes, i'm sure we'll al survive without it.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

The fact that drag mode has been done better in lesser games clearly illustrates where their heads are at.  Do they understand motorsports?  The word in the title is becoming a misnomer.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

Very Disappointed in what I have seen of the "drag mode"  it is as others have said a simple P2P race in a strait line.  NO Drag racing here.

Single player mode the 321 go and autorev I could care less about the AI is easy to beat in just about everything.

Online no auto rev exist so that is fixed,   but with out a working tree and the possibility of red light its just not Drag Racing.  They do have the option in the multi player for  staggering starts not sure what the increments are but if it is precise enough we could handicap bracket race with it.  But the 3 2 1 go is just lame.

let's use this thread as a petition to Turn10. I totally agree this should at least should be an option, because the start is one of the key parts of a race (at least for me, but for a lot of others too when I read this thread).

I would really like a response from Turn10 about why they chose to make this a mandatory part of the game.

But ..... he wouldn't have to worry about burnouts and re-action times if he was in forza3 though! R.O.F.L.M.A.O.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

    I'd say Turn 10 is in a no-win situation.

For the past 2 years, there has been constant requests for drag racing. I have made the comments in the past that people should be requesting a drag-racing game - either from T10 or some other company - because "adding in" drag-racing was never going to be "enough."

Common responses were along the lines of:

    • at least give us back point-to-point
    • at least give us back a drag strip
    • we still want the rest of the game, but also drag racing

So, that's what T10 did. How many threads have you seen here that say "Thanks for giving us what we wanted"? None. Instead, it's "not enough."

The auto-rev, 1 second to launch is ONLY in career mode. How many people will be spending hours and hours drag racing against AI cars?

Multiplayer drag will still have 3-2-1-Go, so no false-starts and less than desired "launch" win/loss conditions. However, I bet the drag fans will still be able to enjoy the game.

To get what drag fans *really* want --- proper staging, tree starts, drag parts, chutes, wheelie-bars, etc, etc (I'm sure there is lots more, I'm just not real familiar with the sport) --- you need a drag racing game.

When FM3 is released, and everyone starts drag racing online, see if just maybe you'll like it. After giving it a chance, *then* come and criticize, suggest, complain... heck, maybe even say "hey, we're having some fun after all."

The same reason there is no staging/red lighting - the start of a race is the same across all races. There's the auto-rev, and the 3-2-1 go. Or in the case of MP, just a 3-2-1 go. There have done nothing specific for any of the alternate race disciplines (drag, drift), so I'm not sure where you'd get the idea that they'd design a whole new race start sequence just for dragging.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

I wish they left this autorevving crap in their infamous developer build. They made it to trick you into thinking that you are racing with high-def models, it is good only for promotion. Why it is unskippable - because it takes time to load hidef models, then unload them, and then load low level models. It would be too annoying if you had to wait for 5 sec every time you trying to skip it, like you have to wait now when autorevving is finished. This doesn't answer though why not add an option to completely turn it off.

To those who think it is there to make newbies and pros equal on the start - absolutely not. It will have the opposite effect. Newbies will have no chance because making perfect launch is much harder to master now and almost random. So whoever happens to be launching from perfect revs due to luck or skills will top leaderboards, casual players can hope only for luck.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

Well you have to remember what T10 said about the auto-rev feature, Its only on single player racing and drag racing, Online the auto-rev goes away. So it really shouldn't matter to much if it is in drag racing.

Also, AWDs will dominate the start, but what is going to truely dominate, are the fanatic wheels with clutch because they will be able to shift faster them people using controller clutch and will never be able to beat them lol

How will this really mess anything up?

    Online - no auto-rev

Hotlapping (LBs) - nobody sets the best lap on the first lap anyways, so it's immaterial.

It'll only affect single-player career races, which by some accounts should be easy to win anyways.

Re: Auto-rev in Drag mode (with video)

I do agree with not having the auto rev feature. Im not sure its that hard to just have no animation at all, just have the cars lined up and have the tree count down.

Anyways I will always be making rooms where manual with the clutch is the only option because I believe that is where the races will be won and lost
