Just a heads up for everyone that loves contrast.  We'll be going from R1 class this week to D-class next week.  I'll announce the full details tomorrow, but I wanted to throw this "teaser" out there for everyone.

I did much better than I thought I would in the R1 portion of this challenge. Top 50 is actually higher than I thought I would be. Last night before I went to bed I was at 30th...but thats probably been knocked back a bit more. but still top 50; so the old Tone is happy.

 

But now that its going to D-class.....that will be more of my speed  :)))

I'm worried I'll get dropped from the top 50 right now I'm 41st.  I don't know if I can run a clean lap to improve my time before the end of the challenge.  Even still 2 tenths only gains me like 8 spots.  There aren't many people in the standings around my rank.

I spent 3 hours last night to shave just .100 so the juice definitely wasn't worth the squeeze.  As of right now my 1.04.5 is good for 49th.  I've run quite a few laps, couldn't put a number on it but its gotta be up there.  At this point I see no chance of making the top 50 which was my goal for this week and its a little disappointing.  Though these challenges are a lot of fun to me taking them on alone is proving to be a losing battle.  Any team looking for more members?

I just want to express my gratitude to the fellas that didn't pull out the Ferrari right away to hide their Top 100 times that they got with the R1 #2 Audi.

It helped to watch the replays to see what line to try to use. I was getting slow 108's but got 1:07.2 from watching the replays.

Amazing job what people can do when they only have 1 choice. the Ferrari and #8 Audi are a lot easier for me to get faster times in. If I could have put together a fairly clean lap, I could be in the 1:06's.

Once again, thanks to Turn 10 for having the HLC for us "slow guys" to be able to see what can be done with non leaderboard cars.

The D Class Chevelle on the Nissan Speedway next week? lol

WOW! I wonder what kind of signing bonus that DONKEY PUNCHER1 will get from the team that signs him?

Anyone with backOne and Kimimatt on their friends list... if they could let a lap post to the scoreboard tomorrow after the challenge is over or near the end of the challenge I would personally appreciate it. 

Ncasolo, i'm talking with BackOne, and says he cannot beat his time with the Ferrari on this track; he give his setup public, he say congratulations for KimiMatt and all R2P for their Hotlap challenge of this week, very very fasts. ( i'm very sorry for my orrible english )

Thanks for the tune IPR. 2 gears seemed like a crazy idea to me, but it sure worked out!

it means a lot to us average joes just trying to make it into the top 200 for a chance at the random 30

I couldn't break 1:07 all week and after 10 or 15 laps with that tune I knocked a full second off my time.

Wow. A good tune makes a bigger difference than i thought. That was awfully kind of IPR to share that with everyone. I was sitting dead at a 1m05.5s and managed to hit a 1m04.19 with their tune. If i had a little more time i'm pretty sure i could hit a high 1m03s.  Thanks alot guys. If anything driving with a team's tune gave me a little peace of mind in knowing that i don't suck as bad as i thought, haha.

My best lap was run 780lbs rear aero my final drive was different so my gears were different but ultimately exactly the same.  My springs were different by 10 pounds and my ARB were identical.  My front rebound was the ONLY real change.  Also tire pressures were 28/27 instead of 29/29.

A great deal of thanks goes out to the boys at IPR for donating their tuning setup to the community, indeed it did make a great deal of difference.  I went from 1.06.9xx to 1.05.5xx in under 30 laps on the track w/ the improved setup, given more time I'd like to think I'd be in the 1.04.5xx's, but I'm cool just qualifying for this one 'cause I still hate R1 class AND Road Atlanta...can't wait for next weeks HLC to be here LOL.

I use my R10 setup since it is generally the same vehicle with the exception of the turbo diesel
