Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

Here's a race recap of Round 4 (Race 2) of the British GT Series at Leguna Seca.

Leg2K8 in his Nissan 350Z gets a good start and jumps to an early lead from P3.

FIR3START3R in the Porsche 911 tries to drive in between Highcroft's Viper and SoW Achill's DB9 but ends up crashing into Achill dropping himself to fifth and Achill into sixth.

Leg2K8 and Highcroft avoids the wreck and begins to battle each other for the lead.

SoW Achill begins his charge up to the front passing FIR3START3R for fifth place.

The TVR Sagaris of SoW Sangheli and Horselegs in his BMW have an early battle for third place.

SoW Achill now passes his teammate, SoW Sangheli for fourth.

Highcroft passes Leg2K8 for the lead.

Highcroft losses the lead after running wide at turn 6.

SoW Achill takes third away from Horselegs.

SoW Achill is able to catch the two lead cars in only 9 laps.

Highcroft is the first car to pit dropping him to sixth place.

SoW Achill tries to pass Leg2K8 for the lead on the corkscrew but turns his car sideways.

SoW Achill leapfrogs Highcroft in the pits and starts to drive away.

Leg2K8 manages to stay in front of Highcroft but drops to second behind SoW Achill.

Highcroft passes Leg2K8 for second and holds the position for the rest of the race. Leg2K8 finished the race in third.

SoW Achill wins the race with 11 seconds over second place.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

Looks like you guys had a lot more exciting time of it than we did!!

Once Jimmy Storie got into a lead in his Northern Star Racing Gallardo he was invincible, clearly a class ahead of the competition. It had been only technical issues that had forced the Lambo driver to start the Lobby 2 Final. Only TVR Fan in his Sagaris was a threat and following the pitstops even that began to fade away.

Behind TVR, jenson09 had a lacklustre weekend and a lonely race to third place, fighting the car almost at every turn. With the teams deal for season 2 now confirmed, many thought tht the THRdriver just wanted to get to the end of the season in one piece.

The final points were fought out by the sole Lotus Exige of culchi and TLMSUPERSTAR in the Monaro.

Jimmy's lead was such that he was able to lap up to and including third place by the races conclusion. The rest of the drivers will be hoping for better fortune as the BGT circus reaches Road America on Sunday.

Final Results Round 4 Final Lobby 2

    1. Jimmy Storie (Lamborghini Gallardo)
    2. TVR Fan (TVR Sagaris)
    3. jenson09 (Shelby GT500)
    4. culchi (Lotus Exige)
    5. TLMSUPERSTAR (Vauxhall Monaro)
    6. GR33N TORTUGA (BMW M3) DNS

Next: Round 5: Road America 23/03.08

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

The British GT is going from strength to strength right now. We have a competitive package and a good range of cars to chose from. Currently 17 point scoring drivers taking part from 11 teams the series just gets better. With names like Jet Alliance, Gulf Aston Martin, Vitafone Racing and many more, now is the time to sign up for season two of this expanding championship.

With three rounds remaining and a max of 156 points up for grabs, the champinship looks set to go down to the wire with no less than 13 drivers capable of winning!

If you just want tofin out about us and our race you can check out our forums (see my sig) or log onto our developing website at www.forza2britishgt.co.uk/ for more info.

In addition to our GT racing exploits we are stting up a BTCC support series for those who love their touring cars! This will be running on a different day to the GT series but will be heavily featured on the website and forums. Format is very much like the BTCC in real life even down to the reverse grid for the second race! All the details can be found on our forums.

So with GT racing and now BTCC action planned for the end of May, there really is no reason not to join in.

    So.....do you wanna go faster?

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

Keep your eyes on this series as we go down to the wire for the last two rounds.

There's a close fight building between SoW Achill, jenson09 and Jimmy Storie as the three drivers separated by only 5 points fight for the right to being the first BGT champion.

The series now heads to Road Atlanta for the penultimate round with SEVEN drivers able to clinch the title lead. jenson09 will be ruing connection issue that robbed him of the series lead. While SoW Achill will be smarting as injury cost him what was an uassailable lead.

If you like the sound of this then hop over to our forums and take a look. And with the promise of a full on BTCC support series in the wings for Season 2 the BGT is going from strength to strength.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

    [quote="MonkOfMadness2"]

First of all i'd just like to thank everyone who took part and stayed until the end, even those of you who were in the B final, well done and thank you. I'd also like to comment on how clean the racing was, i don't think we had a single accident where one person deliberately or even accidentallyt took someone else off the track, and for this as a competitor i thank you all.

So another round of the Forza 2 British GT Championship is over and what a round it was! SoW Achill taking the honours with a fine victory despite crashing on the second lap! Second was Fir3start3r Uk with a fine second, using his porsche's fine speed down the straight to great effect. "i was fast enough to win both races today, but i made a few mistakes and i paid the price for them, i'm gutted." A dissapointing third for MonkOfMadness2, although he was optimistic about the rest of the season saying this "i'm not too happy with the result tonight, i was trying to do the wrong thing when tuning my car, i was going for grip not speed. i just couldn't keep up down the straights! But that wasn't a good track for the ferrari and i think that i'll be more competetive at silverstone."

So let's get on with the A final Review.
Qualifying 5th in the 'A' final was Horselegs with a 2nd in his heat. 4th was TVR Fan1 who was the fastest loser in the heats finishing 3rd. 3rd on the grid was Fir3start3r Uk with a second in his heat, 2nd was MonkOfMadness with a win in the heat and finally pole was SoW Achill with a Win and fastest lap in qualifying.

As they race away from the grid fir3start3r uk took the lead from Achill and Monk, TVR stays ahead of Horselegs coming up the hill.

The order stays the same until Achill hits the back of Fir3start3r Uk and spins, nearly causing a massive pile-up.

On lap 4 TVR Fan1 pits from 3rd.

Soon enough Achill catches up and passed Horselegs when he makes a mistake.

Horselegs pits on lap 12, but he wasn't fast enough and TVR Fan1 passes him for fourth place.

       Monk pits on lap 13

Achill pits on lap 14 and monkofmadness puts in a very slow lap.

Last to stop is Fir3start3r uk on lap 15 Achill overtakes MonkOfMadness during his pitstop.

It's close as they come out of the pits, the order is Fir3start3r uk, Achill and then MonkOfMadness. Achill begins to close up on fir3start3r uk and soon enough he is putting the pressure on hard enough fpr Fir3start3r to make a mistake around the last corner on lap 18, Achill moves up into the lead. MonkOfMadness is now catching up Fir3start3r uk.

On the final lap MonkOfMadness tries to pass Fir3start3r on the inside coming up the hill, but he can't get through and touches the grass, spins and has to settle for third place.

Achill crosses the line and takes the win

    Fir3start3r Uk finishes second

    MonkOfMadness2 finishes Third.

So again congratulations to our winner SoW Achill. The points tables are shown below.

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

FM2 British GT Championship, now including the BTCC!!

The following is a report from a recent test session involving just a few of the entrants set to take to the track come the end of May.

The term testing is used loosly when describing the event staged at Silverstone's International Circuit for the press.
Comprising several of the series most competitve drivers the 8 lap tour was to be anything but uneventful.

Off the start all was well behaved and going into Copse for the first time Jimmy took the lead with PR3DATOR in close pursut.

Dropping down into Maggotts on lap one and it all fell apart. PR3DATOR, taking to the grass, skids across the inside of the corner and collects horselegs at Becketts.

jenson09 narrowly missed getting involved in the scuffle behind and non-series runner NGS Luckier looked on in amazment at the sheer audacity of the action in front!

This was not to deter PR3DATOR, however and he caught up with jenson09 in short order. This was to turn into the battle of the ex-team mates. Each with a point to prove or simply to outdo the other, the two highly  competitive drivers put on a show none of the onlooking press would forget.

With Jimmy way out in front and NGS LUCKIER a distant second, jenson09 was settling into 3rd place when who should pop up in his rear mirror but ex-ETCC team mate PR3DATOR.
"I saw him steaming up from as far back as Ireland. I was fairly suprised after the bash he got with horselegs but hey this is PR3D we're talking about and he KNOWS how to fight back!"

Sure enough by lap 3 at Abbey PR3DATOR was alongside jenson's SEAT, exitiing the corner and heading towards Bridge they were side by side. Jenson's car just getting the edge this time round.
The following lap the pass was less secure and heading to Bridge it was far closer

    jenson09 takes up the story:
"I honestly don't think he thought I'd do it!"
I stayed alongside way into the braking area, we must've been mere inches apart by then."

"I could see all the flashes from cameras as we went through there, thinking jeez I'd better pull this off or there's gonna be some baaad pics in Autosport next week!"
"PR3D just clipped me everso slightly and he ran really wide on the exit down to the complex and Brooklands.
Jenson09 took the chance, remained on line but instead found a black SEAT trying it's luck around the outside of him!

Keeping his foot in despite being run wide heading to the tightest part of the complex PR3DATOR rode around the outside of jenson's SEAT Sport UK Leon. It wasn't enough and the cars remained locked together for the next three bends, horselegs looking on, third in this battle.

Once again coming ino the complex the two SEATs found themselves close together. It was very apparent that the drivers were having a wail of a time! However, another mistake by PR3DATOR put him wide and jenson09's SEAT on the outside into Brooklands. A slight slide by the black SEAT was all that was needed to put jenson09 onto the gravel. In typical fashion the gritty driver kept his foot planted and watched on as PR3DATOR ran wide, bouncing over the kerbs and running hot into the tight left hander. This was invitation enough to pass and jenson didn't disappoint, passing the striken SEAT which had been up on two wheels over the kerbing.

And that was the end of it, on the following lap, PR3DATOR's car swerved off at Ireland with terminal steering damage probably as a result of the high flying antics the lap before.

While all this was happening, Jimmy Storie hadquietly disappearedinto an unassailable lead. Using the Focus ST, a car that has proven unpopular in the WTCC seemed an odd choice for the highflying GT racer but in usual style he made the car perfom. Perhaps a sign of things to come in the BTCC campaign.

Team mate horselegs had asteady race, largely affected by the initial collision with PR3DATOR on that opening lap.

One things for certain as this event proved, this series is far from dull. The drivers are as competitive as they come and given half a chance, removed from the expence of their GT machinery, thy are as mental as
    they come!

If you are interested after readng this then hop over to http://britgt.freeforums.org/index.php to register your inteest in the series Smiley

BTCC starts soon, you'd better not miss it!

Re: FORZA 2 British GT Championship Official Thread.

Season 1 of the Forza 2 Avon British GT Championship is now complete with the champion named as SoW Achill and his team Jet Alliance Racing, winning the teams championship also.

However, with many more new teams and drivers entering for season two and some of the late arrivals narrowly missing out on the title, it looks like it could be ALOT more fun next time around.

The addition of the BTCC to the programme adds that extra incetive for those who want to take part in our race days either as a GT racer or in the tourig car class. There's plenty to be excited about as Season 2 kicks of at the end of May.

Hope over to the forums to register your interest :)
