FREE ROAM!
There is nothing wrong with Free Roam and it won't take away the concept of Forza. Because if you don't feel like racing with someone on a race track, you would race on the streets for money as well or just Roam with a friend. TDU was made to let YOU choose what you want to do. If you felt like racing Tournaments or just race on the streets with other free-roamers.
I just feel it would make the game Alot more Fun for the fans that love TDU's Free-Roam but put it away to play the Game that Rules over all Racing GAmes....Forza!!

I think FREE ROAM would be pretty cool. But instead of having the races for money on the streets. You would have to drive to a track and then square off. Streets would just be for Cruising.
Oh and the INTERIOR VIEW of ALL cars is a must.
Remember- Drive it, like you stole it.

David JC:
Free-roam. full interior details being able to roll windows up and down and honking horn and being able to flash headlights. Keeping all simulation racing/driving and more upgrades but with being able to free-roam miles and miles and miles of road just like Test Drive Unlimited and driving to your race track to do your money-making races.
That would make this game a 360 breaker because i'd never put down the controller that it would burn down the console. lol!
but seriously, there have been plenty of request for free roam and i really would love to see that in Forza 3.
Come on Turn 10, allow Free Roam. Please!!
Peace out man.
I am so with you on the Free roam. they should do it kind of like Test drive unlimited but have the races at actual tracks that you can either drive to or spawn to like in TDU. I do not like the fact that you havve to drive in race in traffic all the time with TDU. If the TURN 10 did this so that we online nuts can interact like that it would make it way more fun. I have spent hours just driving around with others in TDU, but the lacking ability to customize the cars sucks. FORZA lets you paint it any way you want and put stickers, rims and symbles which can add some individuality instead of 2 people having Enzo's and they look the same save for the paint color. After awhile constantly having to load tracks just to drive the car in a confined environment gets boring. I never even do the races in TDU anymore. It is more fun to link up with friends drive around and ******** with eachother and stage our own races.
Also I hope they decide to put the 03/04 Mustang cobra in. I have one so if they need one to test out I would be glad to lend it to them:) Another big thing is the power upgrades. they need to do their homework. If they are going to make a "Driving Simulator then make the power upgrades actually give you the power they would in real life. My example is when I was modding th 2000 Cobra R with a PAXTON race blower. it said it only gives it 95hp more when in real life a the Paxton Novi 2000 or 3000 race series would add between 300-500hp with supporting mods. The same goes for the Whipple supercharger upgrades. I don't want to hear about it being unfair for cars in the same class that cant be supercharged with the same blowers because the upgrades already increase you cars level to a point where you cant race in some races anyway due to too much power or the wrong type of car. This would make it more enjoyable for the free roam if they put that in as well. The Sounds are a little on the weak side to for most of the cars. They have the technology to make these games amazing so they should not skimp on the car sounds and make several different cars share the same engine sounds. When I put the Paxton race blower on I was hopping to hear the tell tail meat grinder noise they make at idle, but heard nothing but whisper that something may be different. I had a Vortech blower on my 91 5.0 and it sounded like a jet at idle. Also no boost meter to see what is going on when driving, you can only see that in replay for some reason..
Another thing that would be really cool is to be able to see your car on a chassis dyno while you put the parts on then run it to see the result and do tuning. Have less cars if you have to but have good cars and have it be more interactive when it come to tunning. Other PC games for NHRA based racing have things like this.
So to the TURN 10 team if you really are reading this board I hope you take some of this into consideration before making another Forza game that is mostly just the same as the last one.
AS far as cars go. they have a lot of good ones, but the ones I would like to see are:
Pagani Zonda F clubsport
FORD GTX1
1990-1993 Fox body 5.0L mustangs
CCXR or the CCX
F430 Scuderia

Just adding to my response but I think once they added the FREE ROAM Tactic and the Full customizations that they already have. This game could be EPIC!! Also I think people would roam around in more cars that they actually own or just really like. Test Drive is kinda crappy because most people just boot around in Enzo's and CCx's. Also I think the game should be set in a area like California. So you have places like in the city for your busy traffic and highway areas. All the way out to areas out in the Vineyards where the roads are all twisted and would truly test your car. NO COMPANY has ever put real world Physics into a FREE ROAM game. This could be a Mega Hit!
Remember- Drive it, like you stole it.

Overall advice on how to choose improvements: -Try to find a way to use a live beta to monitor users reactions. Learn what menus they use, what events they are drawn to and how they skip around.
-Go to the auction house, sample the cars posted and find out what the users who are not making dirty pictures are doing, then make that easier, espec for race liveries. i.e. painters that need 25 layers to make a T in the font they want.
-Focus on improvements to that will encourage new or casual drivers to adopt behaviors that make them better drivers. Really cool cars without automatic transmission for example. Another possibility would be to allow suggested line in practice mode only.
-Make it easier for casual drivers to experiment with livery, tuning, different cars, higher difficulty settings, shedding assists. Try to draw them deeper into the game.
Livery Editor Invert Selection Command. Ability to use Shapes as stencils i.e. Pick a gradient, then use a flame as a cookie cutter. More fonts. Ability to preserve groups as a single object permanently, or keep multiple groups together in the layer control. Full color non-manufacturers decals, national flags or Logos from sanctioning bodies, like SCCA or SOVREN, or separate decal editor.
The ability to make a big graphic on a plane and then drape the whole car instead of assembling it on the separate surfaces individually and fussing with them until they match.
Graphics Do what you have to do to keep the frame rates smooth, the graphics are good enough as is.
Cars/Tracks I don't mind the DLC thing. I know you gotta eat. As long as they are good. Give me the 09 Nissan GTR!!!
By-the-way, I loved the December car pack. When I was a kid, I didn't want a Monte a Chevelle or a Trans Am. I wanted a Audi Quattro, an R-5 turbo or a 911. Everyone thought I was some kind of Communist.
I love free roam in some games, but it sure seems like a lot of work to develop that much road to the level of detail in FM2. I'll play NFS or something for that, then come back to FM2 when I get bored.
If you do a fantasy track, do something that feels like a wider version of the ring with some very dark forest sections and maybe a tunnel to create cool lighting effects.
Do a Hot Wheels track laid out on the floor of someone's living room.(that would be fun)
I want some P2P back. Fuji was awesome and the quarter mile was nice to experiment with.
Menus These need a lot of work. There is too much hopping back and forth to do things such as: -Picking a new car if your existing car is eligible for the next race. -If I've picked a track/car for a career event, have a jump to tune-that car with that track in test drive mode; also a practice mode with jump to free run with that car and that track and show a benchmark time to hit depending on the AI difficulty setting chosen. This will encourage drivers to both move up the difficulty ladder and practice before they race.
Tuning -The descriptions are a little off and could use a good edit -It is too hard to do trial and error in tuning. Make it easier to get to the benchmark numbers after making individual adjustments. There is too much time spend menu hopping to get updated benchmark data. -The speed curve on the tranny settings could use better numbers so there is less guesswork on what the top end is. -I want to be able to hire a driver in test drive mode. That way you can pull up the telemetry and concentrate on it instead of driving. AI drivers are more consistent than I am, making it easier to know if I improved the tuning or just moved up the track/car learning curve.
Career -Going from Forza 1 to Forza 2, you did not make much progress on creating a more immersive career experience. You don't get the feeling of working your way up through a real career. You can complete this game without mastering it. Turn 10 obvioiusly blew their money on getting the physics and the cars right, which was the right choice. Now that you have the physics down, this is a good place to put the cherry on top.
-The named AI driver schtick does not work. They are names, but the standings and abilities are fixed, you are still just racing the same guy with a bunch of extras thrown in. The best AI opponent is always in the best car. Try mixing that up a bit so the AI is a little more even and their standings move around. Perhaps making them get better as you got better instead of tying that to a difficulty setting only would spice things up a bit.
-The only thing more difficult to calibrate than PI numbers is the economics. The best moments in the game for me came at the start of my career when I had some money, won a few cars and need to make choices like, do I upgrade this car, or do I spend money on the one I just won? Before long, though, you have all the money you need to anything you want. If you can find a way to keep drivers hungry for the whole career, it would add a new level of strategy. Perhaps a charge for tires, fuel and any crashes would be a way to do that.
-It's too easy to win most races in career by taking a hopped-up S class civic against D class opponents and blowing them away by a full lap. Find a way to dynamically change the AI car assignments or force drivers to use comparable cars so the AI is always competitive.
-Think about a penalty flag system in career to discourage paint swapping and bring in another aspect of real racing. This would be a big help in discouraging irresponsible behavior in multiplayer as well.
Multiplayer A very hard thing to fix is the Lotus Élan/CRX problem-you have a gazillion cars in the garage, but one car or car type comes to dominate its class, so that's what everyone drives and the variety is gone. Leaderboards make it easy for everyone to figure out what this car is, too. This is a fundamental problem in game design. Check out what COD4 did with the perks/weapons thing in multiplayer. You unlock new goodies as you level up on multiplayer, you need points to level up, you can only get so many points with any one weapon and need to switch to keep leveling up. It keeps multiplayer fresh and creates a field of play with a variety of opponents by encouraging lots of experimentation. If you could adapt this strategy, it might be a way around the problem.
In live, you have not quite created the illusion of wheel to wheel racing due to the need to compensate for lag. I see cars jump around like crazy when connections go bad and it’s a real buzz kill. Hope you can fix this somehow, but I don't know how.
All in all. Love this game and its only getting better.

Yeah, Forza as a free roam like Test Drive would be AMAZING!
It could work... Test Drive was great, you could choose which route a race went, how long, etc... Man... I didn't even think of that.. I hope they do it.

Forza 2 is great - I just have one request-
TUNING-
Give us a little more- You could make 3 levels of tuning ie: Advanced / Novice / Begineer, Now this request will benefit all ages of the game. My thoughts are to have a very finely tuned section for the advanced portion, ie: being able to adjust valves and cam timing- cylinder bores, Im mean Going inside the engine and being able to maximize the cars full capabilities.
This can be done ! Xbox has a game called "IHRA DRAG RACING 2004" The game overall sucked badly BUT BUT the advanced Tuning section is Absoultley AMAZING, (in the game you are able to adjust Bores and Strokes, Valve lobes,Weight transfers, And best of all the Turbos) for those who have not played it It Is worth it, just for the tuning portion of the game.
Please give it some thought It will be worth it $ ....Mitt
The MightyM1 has risen and will retain whats rightfully his- FORZA GLORY !!

I would say the single biggest adition this game needs is more excitement in the races, sure more tracks would be awesome but if these are in DLC packs then thats good enough for me.
obviously as its been mentioned numerous times it needs some weather, just wet weather will do, no snow or thunder storms are needed, just varying degrees of rain and surface water with decent enough spray from the cars. PGR 4 has the rain nailed in terms of graphics, headlights, wipers and varying degrees of spray would work well with this also. <<that alone would keep me happy.
rolling starts as an option, or first lap round behind a safety car etc.
better tyre smoke effects (need for speed pro street style)
More Aggressive AI, its not bad at the moment but the odd crash would be nice, the better drivers braking later and overtaking, occasional tyre lock up etc, just something thats not as tedious as it is now. having a 50 lap race with a sudden downpour which makes us all pit and change tyre types would be wicked.
After experiencing the PGR4 career mode the calendar system works well, and a specific race calendar for all the regions would keep things interesting. Also dont give out R class cars for winning competitions, keep them priced high (250+) and let us work for the higher class cars, having them simply given to us after winning a few races is pointless and they all end up on the auction house.
Better crash effects with more bits falling off if possible, more dust being thrown up when you enter the gravel trap, and more dirt being spewed up when you enter the grass, denting of metal barriers and tyres going flying when you hit the tyre wall at speed. just something that makes you go WOAHHH when a car crashes.
Painting of R class cars and more R class car models, more manafacturer decals (even if its a DLC pack with 5000 logos in that would be awesome).
Another great thing would be for you to repair your car manually (and clean it), replacing tyres, brakes, parts etc as they become worn or damaged, costly crash = costly repair, and for it to sit in your garage dirty and unrepaired if you do nothing.
Although i wouldnt use it myself but an easy tune method where you have simple sliders for oversteer/ understeer etc. this would help the beginners who possible abandon the game when they try and tune a car because of the complexity of it all.
Lights and shadows i thought were quality when i first bought the game but there is no denying that GT5 is stunning when it comes to this and i hope to see a good improvement for Forza 3.
In short, Forza 2 has the driving physics absolutely spot on and its time for Forza 3 to enhance the visual aspect of an already awesome game! good luck with it Turn 10 and hope you take into account the feedback from your loyal fans here on these forums.

It would be COOL to have the game set in Germany. then we could drive to "The Ring" and race around it. Then of course take it to the streets.

first off...id like to see another developer take a crack at FORZA, no offense TURN 10, but you took a game from 2001, repainted it, added some cars, put in achievements and called it Forza 2. If Forza 3 comes out and its anything like what was given to us last summer, you might aswell call yourself EA and call it Madden 09. Again, no offense!
But if Turn 10 does make a Forza 3, or whoever, heres some changes that would be nice...
DRIFTING, i am hardcore time attack and race car lover to the core, but Drifting is where my heart has been since the late 90's and its a shame that it still hasn't been implemented into sim racing games yet!
Better class break downs - just because your car ends up in A class, doesnt mean its anywhere close to being able to compete with the cars in its class. This would help defining who the better racers and tuners are, instead of everyone just using 1 or 2 cars to blast through the scoreboards for any specific class.
Better body modifications - customizing the body kits and hoods and spoilers in NFS is the only reason I even touch those games! 90 percent of the body kits you offer for the cars literally look like they should be in a 1995 import magazine...back when people didnt know anything about bolting huge, bulky, heavy body kits on cars! Give us something thats with the times! Hell id even buy it if it was DLC!
Why cant we have carbon fiber fenders, trunks, doors, body kits, diffusers, lol....gas caps! magnesium rims, race head lights, aftermarket lights, wide body kits, vented fenders, customized vents to place on hoods, fenders, mufflers, etc...this is just as much a sim racer as it is a car show! give us something more then just paint to build with! AND LET US PUT DECALS ON WINDOWS!!!
Because of the lag this game has, give us a section in the pre-race lobbies to view other players cars and stats of the car as to how many races, wins, who made it, whos driving it, etc!
Career mode - WTF was going on in the office the day someone came up with the idea to only give you 100cr for cars that you win? Are you guys retarded? Did you even play Forza 1 before making that change? I stopped playing career mode the day I found that out! OHHHH....and then you give people the ability to put those same cars in the AH and sell them for whatever they want? How does that work?
If you guys do redo the Team Scoreboards...(if you dont you should seriously think about the career you picked)...run the route of Chromehounds and input a way for teams to have funds that can be used to develop better parts. Chromehounds has a thing in the game where its divided into nations, each nation gets money for battles won by its members, the money then can be used to develop better parts that can only be used by that nation and once you leave that nation, you no longer can buy those parts! That to me would make this game TIMELESS!! people would seriously be battling for those parts because they would give an edge to the game! it would be nonstop!
blah, blah, blah...too bad you guys dont read these things, otherwise we would have progress

Cars... Tracks... isnt that all we need... more cars and more tracks ??? This is what i would like to see... Specific Drift tracks... & a drift scoring system Dirt tracks... for rally racing ( Half Dirt / Road courses ( X-Games style tracks ) More real world race tracks... ( Lime Rock Park - Connecticut )
Cote d'Azur - ( unless it was a fake gran turismo track ) i cant remember the name of that uphill climb... but all you who have been playing racing games for ever you understand what im talking about. ( pikes peak )

more real world tracks (sarthe, spa, bathurst, monaco, knockhill, brand hatch, monza, interlagos, etc)
adjustable weather
fix the pi, no d class cars with 600bhp (no offence muscle car lovers)
no drivetrain swaps, if the cars front wheel drive, it should stay
easier to operate menus/garage
club scoreboards
qualifying
more cars on track at once, surely if games like cod4 can have 18 players in a room at 1 time, sure forza can have at least 12, but 16 player would be great, and with that multiple class racing like the american le mans series
the mazda 787b!
better replays
more tuning options, e.g. turbos - choose how much boost to run
different compound tires (hard, soft, qualifyer, etc)
adjustable fuel load
better pit stops
the ability to do more than 75 laps, to be able to do 500 laps or set a time limit e.g. 1hr,2,4,6,12,24... and with that a mode where the once you come into the pits, the computer takes over (just like gt4's b-spec mode) or a option to save the race progress at certain points, e.g. 25%. dont know how the hell itd work...
better career mode, the one on forza 2 was a struggle to complete.
i don't like drifting or drag races, but please put in a drag string + fuji kaido so we can get rid of the silly request threads.
GT: GSR Liquidius Completely Overanked at 11th in the world, but i'll take it :)
