Re: "Bring out the wolf's head..." (WIP)

Hey, I'd like to be added to the list, but have one simple request..; the "yellow glow" doesn't look all that great to me... but then again that's just me...

I see this thing on a battlefield... Battlefields have explosions... Explosions have fire/flames/red/orange....

I see it ramming through a wall... Walls have bricks/blocks/Grey/rocks/cracks.... if you catch my drift???

    I see it destroying massive door/gates... Splinters/bolts/Browns/Nails.....

Just over 500. That may address some of Jbcarey's suggestions as well. Wink [;)]

The yellow is just a placeholder BTW, JB. There will be some sort of Hellscape (or the suggestion thereof) filling the background.

Re: "Bring out the wolf's head..." (WIP)

Check out this little nugget I found. It's the incription on Grond, literally spelled out for me...

    It reads:

    No wall between

    No power against

    No endurance of souls

Grond - the will of Mordor

For space considerations (and the fact that I hate doing text) I'll probably just go with the last line or even just the name on that rear fender area I mentioned. Still, I just think it would be too cool to have the full incription on the car somewhere - even though nobody but the owner would have any idea what it meant. Man... I don't know if I'm going to be able to resist putting something like this on the roof and trunk area...

Whaddya you guys think - worth the effort?

Not afraid of a little effort. I guess my question is actually... will it be worth the extra time it takes to pull it off? I know I'm going to want to get that texture to look just like his armor plating. Then there's the text...

But, honestly... it's just too damn perfect to pass up, isn't it?

There ya go, You just answered your own question, what started as a basher is turning into something else..

cooper - you could sell the car as-is and make billions. I would love to see the script on there, I was just stating that it's easy for me to say since I'm not the one who has to do it Smile [:)]

Oh, I know. Sorry - didn't mean it to come off like I was disagreeing with you. Just ammending my previous question, really.

Well, I'd like to think it would still be a basher. I hope it turns out to be the ultimate basher, in fact. Would having that armor pattern on the top rear portion of the car compromise this? Not asking because I disagree with you - I just don't wanna go down the wrong road.

I doubt it - if anything armor makes it MORE of a basher!

That looks so awesome! I like the ideas you plan to incorporate, cant wait to see it. What I think would be awesome for the hood(and mybe bring it down to the front fenders), would be something similar to what I do to my cars.....I'm picturing weathered wood panels with rot iron brackets and bolts with maybe a decrepit demon door knocker, as you would see pictured on castle doors.Maybe have them splintered as they get closer to Grond on the fender...just an idea.

And a good one at that. The only thing is, I'm attempting here to actually transform the car itself into the battering ram - as opposed to painting a scene on the car depicting the battering ram doing what it does in its environment (not that there's anything wrong with designs of that sort - it's just not what I want to do in this instance.) For this reason, I only want elements that are exclusive to the subject I am painting to be incorporated into the design. So while the castle door idea would be great for a Grond-themed car, it unfortunately won't work for what I am trying to accomplish with this.

I would have to agree, thats a great idea.

I will say, however, that I won't let strict adherence to a concept trump good design work. I wasn't blowing ded's idea off as not having merit  - I just wanna see if I can make my concept work first. If not, then I'll surely be giving the door idea a try, along with some of the other suggestions I've gotten on this thread.

Anyway... gonna sneak home and do some painting in a bit. I'll post pics of my progress later tonight.
