There are a few around here that could paint a stick figure on the hood and sell it for 200 mil+. There are others here who can turn out a perfect photoreal and barely break 1 mil.

The AH is a fickle mistress. Your best bet is to just paint what you like, and not worry about the rest.

Thanks Steve - it took me the better part of 2 years to learn that. And why I still don't understand it, I've come to accept it. I'm just trying to help the OP (and anyone else reading) and prevent them from making the same mistakes I did.

I agree. I don't paint for accolades, but they sure don't hurt. Big Smile

    Trystan Spyder:

I'm glad you decided to take this on yourself. The only thing that worries me is that you were offering 60 million for someone to paint one for you, which it appears you would have then sold anyways. Which is kind of shady if you ask me.

But kudos for doing it yourself, and I agree with the others about worrying about paydays. When I started painting, I tried to measure success by how much my cars sold for. It's a good way to drive yourself crazy.

There's soo many variables with the AH that you could sell the same car on two different days and get two wildly different results. There are a few around here that could paint a stick figure on the hood and sell it for 200 mil+. There are others here who can turn out a perfect photoreal and barely break 1 mil.

The AH is a fickle mistress. Your best bet is to just paint what you like, and not worry about the rest.

even if i did get a design for 60 million i would sell it locked of course.

The layout on the side is eerily similar too with the cherry blossoms, dragon, and symbols.  I wouldn't worry too much about the artist getting mad though.
