    Auction House Hatred...

in my opinion the auction house needs a MAJOR revamp. ummmmm hello?!?! can we please set it up more like ebay..... i mean WTF! how does the time magically jump backto 2 minutes when people bid?!?! how is the auction supposed to end with a reasonable price for the vehicle? honestly it can go forever.... i spent 2 hours today watching and attempting to bid on all 5 of th TURN 10 Chevrolet Camaro 35th Anniversary Edition cars.... and guess what they got down to 2 minutes and are still going up in price as i write this. one of them is now up to 5.2 million dollars and climbing.... honestly how do you get that much cash (without cheating) thru the game i finishd the game with about 1.2 million after getting cars to do all the races with... my biggest problem is the fact that the timer never runs out.... ive never seen a clock go "oh theres only one minute left, better give them more time to run the price up." so the auction house needs a major re-do so that its fair for the people who are bidding on vehicles who have been outbid EVERY SINGLE TIME. if the timer woulda run out i woulda one one of the camaros for about 200,000 i had 354,000 and then the timer reset to 2 minutes and they all jumped to around 400-500 thousand. just checked the car AGAIN, it is now up to 7 million, and thu the whole game wihtout buying any cars i got about 14 million.... EXPLAIN THIS, and i just saw the timer reset from 1 minute to 2 AGAIN!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! why wont anyone fix this?! this game has been updated so many times its not even funny, yet this never gets fixed..... and im also sick of seeing all these cars that only sell for 250,000 in the show rooms have prices of like 3 million and crap. WHY!?!

please fix this turn 10 or you will lose a very valuable cusomer.... love the game but at least gta4 and gran turismo dont do that crap.

    epic fail.

Did you by any chance read the Pitpass this week? This is exactly what they are proposing to do. I doubt you did actually, seing as if you had a near human level of intelligence you would have been able to work out that the reason that it resets to two minutes if someone bids on it with less than two minutes left is simply to avoid it being unfair towards those with slower connections from being "pipped at the post" for every auction they want. They are experimenting with this for one week and will decide based on feedback, presumably listening to the respected characters around here than the bottom-feeders. And also, did it ever occur to you that there may be ways of tuning and painting cars to make money??? Or perhaps tournaments, online racing and the like. Don't complain that something doesn't work if you can't be bothered to use it anyway.

First off... sorry for the bids... I don't have any of the unicorn cars and I'm interested in getting them.  That being said I can afford their price tag when it goes and goes and goes up.  I do, however, have a price ceiling for myself and won't go past certain bidding points.  This doesn't mean I cheated to get my credits.  I have sold alot of paint and alot of tunes to get to where I'm at and wouldn't be at that level had I bidded on some of the unicorn cars.  I understand your frustration but there is no sense in getting too worked up.  Your best bet is to do like the previous post suggests and look towards the auction house trial run in late may.

Plus, if they fix everything for Forza 2 there wouldn't be as much anticipation for an awesome Forza 3.... patience is the left arm of the agressor.

I turned signatures off - so you'd better have something good to say!

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

Like Pike aluded to above, your logic here is flawed - you are assuming that if Turn 10 changes the operations of the AH - the players will not change their bidding strategies, and just isn't true. If they go to ebay time outs people will simply bid more sooner, bottom line is that Unicorn cars will still sell for more than you have, it will just get to multi-million dollar prices earlier in the process - they'll still sell for 30+ million when its all said and done.

And as Pike also said - please don't assume that because you don't have as many credits as someone else that they cheated their way to those credits - not true, and btw - its alot of hard work and a huge investment in time to tune/paint cars, and there are quite a few other ways to make a lot of credits as well.

as far as the "slower connection people" not my problem, the timer dont reset on ebay for "slower connection people" and no i never read the whole pitpass unless it has to do with new dlc. as for "mr you have must not even have near a human level of intelligence", i have two words for you, and if you like i can PM them to you.

no offense to turn 10 and their pit pass, but i find them extremely boring to read.

ps. i could understand 1 or two times of it going back to 2 minutes, but after my 350,000 was outbid on ALL 5 vehicles, (one made it to 20 MILLION.... ridiculous) but watching them climb for about an hour is ridiculous.......

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

Beyond all of what has been mentioned before, the AH was set up like an AH. You think Barret Jackson stops all bids within a time limit? The price goes until someone wins, people get a few seconds to bid again, then it's done. My guess for the reason Turn10 put the 2 minute cycle on the end timer is to give people a lag buffer because the internet fails.

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

smh at 20 million being ridiculous.  I made 4 million today legit (not spamming), and I'm an average racer who can't paint or tune.

Love when retarded noobs spend 20 minutes with the game and have more complaints than races in the win column.  A very valuable customer?  You joined the forum a year ago and have probably poster here less than fifty times.

They are called unicorn cars for a reason.  BTW, you won't make many friends around here insulting Turn 10.  Most of us worship the ground they walk on for creating this great game.  I mean, what did you think was gonna happen with your stupid post?  Turn 10 is gonna look and say "oh noes, Louie here hates the AH, lets just change it to how he wants it even though we have sold millions of copies of this game and have made millions of dollars.  It must be junk and Louie has it just right!"

But Ebay doesn't require a fast connection, as it already has your bid data, and works it out in its own supercomputer, but repetitive bidding does, as you may not be able to get the information regarding your bid out it time, therefore missing the chance.

you need to start small and work your way up, I sell and paint for a tuner shop, and I still cant afford(or justify to make the stretch) a unicorn.  This isnt E-Bay, and it never will be like it.  Its a video game for god sakes, so quit getting all worked up.

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

even being a seller cant get you enough money for a unicorn. i myself have a unicocn car which was gifted to me as a replacement for the one i lost when my profile was reset. i got that car very early in the game when the unicorns were first out and no one was really vidding them up, i still had to sit there for hours waiting for it but in the end i got a camaro.

anyway yeah this game isnt ebay and never will be. i think that turn10 turning off the 2 minute timer is a good idea and will even out the chances of getting cars, whether it be unicorn or that purple civic you need for the acheivement lol. the only people its not good for is the profiteers who put cars with no by outs up. =]

utter drivel. its either an auction or its not.

reseting the timer?? wtf.. if the auction is due to end at a certain thats what exactly what it should do! Connection speeds??? what are people using 56k dial up?!?! If people are losing out due to their connection speed then i suggest they put their hand in their pocket and buy a decent connection!! why should the rules be changed because they have an inferior set-up?

its completely pointless trying to use the auctions now. If someone bids in the last 1min you might as well give up and let them have it (unless youre going to sit there continually bidding for the next hour until one of you gets bored).

Lastly.. what are those morons on that put something like the Audi R10 on at 450,000 with a 1,000,000 buy out?!?!? whats the point, you can buy it new for 350,000!! Muppets.

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

First, this thread is about seven months old.  Second, no one is on Xbox LIVE with a dial-up account.  You can't even create an account with a satellite connection because the system will reject the poor connection speed.

The bidding was changed during the anniversary week back in May/June to expire at the end of the actual time, and what it turned out to be was bad for the Sellers, a reduction of bids because people were attempting to get the last bid (not an opening bid in) and Turn 10 determined during that study they system really didn't work as an auction - that is two interested parties continue bidding (resetting the timer) until one quits or runs out of available funds to bid.  That's how real auctions are, not the sniperfest of an eBay-style bidding.

The system in Forza Motorsport 2 will remain with a reset to two minutes when a bid is made during the last minute.  Participation in the Auction House is only required to get a simple achievement, otherwise it can be ignored.

    Re: Auction House Hatred...

Whilst i agree that the auction house shouldn't be an "ebay sniper fest" , i also agree that bidding on auctions is boring and frustrating in its current form.

I don't think the 2 minute timer was really ever the issue though....

You should be able to input higher bid amounts manually, if the auction is currently at 1000 Cr and i want to bid 20 million of my hard earned credits, why can't i do this in one bid? or at least a lot quicker than it currently is..

There will probably be people who will say, that is unfair on people with low amounts of credits.. why?? if someone has more credits, they deserve to win the auction.. right??

This will be not only be good for sellers, but also buyers - who don't have time to spend 2 hours pressing a button just to raise the auction to the amount they wanted to bid at the get-go.

Keep the 2 minute timer, but why not let us choose our bid amount? Surely this would also require less bandwidth on your servers, and less auctions running for hours on end.. Until someone falls asleep.. or the controller button wears out..

As i agree to the part of it being frustrating to bid for a long time on one auction i get the idea of why it is like that.

I like the idea of putting in a bid higher than the bid function...

unicorns by their very nature are supposed to be rare

20 million is  peanuts ive seen one do 3-4 times that and then some

i like the AH just as it is gives everyone another minute to bid, why noy read a book or listen to some music as you bid

if you want the car badly enough then win one its that easy

if you dont read the pitpass report your loss dude
i find they are brilliant and keep you up to date with whats happening in the world of forza 2

also not everyone who has credits cheated some people EARNED them through races or painting or tuning (mostly all 3)

    coming soon to the AH.....

honestly how do you get that much cash (without cheating) thru the game i finishd the game with about 1.2 million after getting cars to do all the races with.

For me i made alot of money racing only on Nurburing & Selling designs and tunes for over a year now which to me is nothing considering the people i know who have done nice designs and tunes selling for 3-5-10-50mill a pop.

Trust theres loads of people who made lots of money fair buy Tuning, Designing, & Racing & Carrer mode.

im also sick of seeing all these cars that only sell for 250,000 in the show rooms have prices of like 3 million and crap. WHY!?!

Prices 3 million - I've seen a car go for 300million that is insane but i guess if people can afford that and make others rich then its too bad for the poor they should of bought forza2 when it was brand newgame.
