    Re: Your first car

how the f*** do you guys get V8s for your first cars? In the UK the insurance is so bad even a 1.0l car (eg Citroen C1) will cost about the equivalent of $3000 per year.

I can't speak for anyone else, but mine started as a 2.3 litre inline four, then swapped out for a 5.0 litre V8.

Don't tell anyone but I didn't tell my insurance company Wink [;)]  Insurance was already in the $3000 range for the 4 cyl. Surprise [:O]

    Re: Your first car

Real life; A 1986 Buick Regal.  Not the GNX though.  It was used for about 15 years before I inherited it.  It was so unsafe, I was terrified the thing would explode or snap in half while driving it.  Everything leaked( including the fuel tank).  Then I got a job and sold the thing for 300 dollars.  At that point I was almost willing to pay someone to take it away.  I rode to the car dealership with someone else and bought a 91 Buick Lesabre for 3000 with one check and drove the thing home.  I'm still driving it 3 years later, but I think I just ruined my streak of good luck by saying this.  I suppose I'll find out tomorrow...

Forza;  Audi TT. No story there.

    Re: Your first car

R/L 1984 Mk1 Vauxhall Astra 1.2 with all the kit to look like a GTE......couldn't get insured for less than £1500 (thanks to the kit) Had it in 1995 when I were just 17 years old. Then went and got a 1981 BMW 318 which I sold the same day for double the price I paid (it was great working in a scrap yard), apparantely the car belonged to a cheating hubbie, so as revenge the wife decided to scrap his beloved car...lol, she didn't want any money or nothing she just wanted to see the car destroyed in front of her. Well I talked her round to taking money for it and saved the car from instant death. I paid her £400 for the car and after a few hours sold it on to a friend (I wouldnt have afforded the insurance anyway) for £800 and a pack of cigarettes. Stick out tongue [:P]
First car I drove legally was 1999 Fiat Punto 55S 1.2, just two and half years ago when I finally decided to take my test, insurance still knocked me for £900. Since then I have had another three cars, 1995 Peugeout 106 1.1 XT, 1996Rover 218 SLD Turbo (which I still have now) and a 1993 Renault 19 1.4 RXN (which the missus drives) and as to be said was an absolute bargain, full service history 84,000 genuine miles, immaculate inside and out and cost just £300 due to the fact the bloke just had a new 3 series BMW to replace it with.

Forza - Profile Asia I went IS300, Profile Europe Golf R32 and have never chosen a USA profile Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Your first car

    haha

My forza career started in europe aswel and i chose the VW corrado, because it is such a nice car to tune & pimp

My first car in RL was a honda civic 1.6 vtec, my brother owned it and I could drive it because he had another honda crx vtec turbo tuned up to 220 bhp.

I really loved driving those honda's, theyre amazingly fast and the sound of all those rpm's (up to 9000) really hooks you up!!

    Forza:  Audi TT

Real life:  '63 Sunbeam Alpine.   By today's standards, it was slow.  Oh hell, by late '60's standards it was slow.  Wink [;)]  Good handler though.  Pretty good fun ripping around the back roads of Dutchess County, New York.   The crashbox first gear also taught me how to doubleclutch on the downshift.

    Re: Your first car

My first car was a 1995 Toyota Corolla. Thing has like 15x,xxx miles on it but the exterior is in great shape. So far we have replaced the radiator, the starter, Fuel lines, and brake lines. I figure the car will be done in a few months. After that i hope to get a 2nd Generation Mitsubishi Eclipse, either the GS-T(FWD Turbo) or the GSX(AWD Turbo), or a Mitsubishi 3000gt VR-4. Both the First and 2nd generations of this car are great. 1st had the 300hp 3.0L V6 twin Turbo. It had the All Wheel Steering, Active Aero, ECS, and the different exhaust stages(Quiet and Performance). The 2nd Generation had the 320HP 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo, but didnt have those extra cool goodies. Because of this, it weighed a few 100lbs less.

    Re: Your first car

Forza =  91 CRX --- monster acceleration but lags a little with 6-700hp

RL = 1999 *NEW* Civic Hatch aka EK

Had it for 5 years, 2000 US Integra Type R swap with Intake/Exhaust/stupid Si ECU 8200rpm, 2.25 first...ran a 13.61@101 then upgraded it with a Toda flywheel, ACT clutch, Toda cam gears, Civic Type R ECU 8700rpm, better header, 2.5" exhaust.....made 25 more hp in the midrange and 15 more at peak but I never got a chance to make another clean pass with it before I sold it

I bought 2 more EK hatchbacks, 2 Del Sols, an EG hatchback (B16 14.4@96 on streets), An Accord and an 06 350z new

Right now I own the 350z and a 95 Del Sol I am slowly repairing ....bought it off the father of a kid who got too many speeding tickets and had to sell it....B16 swap, Intake/Header/Exhaust....needs little things but I just had it resprayed....getting some ecu software, new mounts, axles, suspension, sways, tie bars etc...

Eventually it will be running an H2B swap -- H22 with bolt-ons and street cams....220-230whp and run mid to low 12's natually aspirated ....I might spray it for some 11 sec passes but its just a daily driver so...the Z is the one I would like to go all out on and make 1000+whp with....just takes more money than I am willing to commit to right now lol

You might say I like Hondas lol.....
