Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
Im with ya Hell.... The more mixed up it can be made the better..
I think the underlying thing here is VARIETY. Each and every tourny should be unique and completeyl randomized so that no 2 tournies are the same.
I for one wouldnt care what it is as long as its NOT the same thing over and over. Sure there will a be a few tournies that I might not be interested in... but half the fun is the 'finding out' what the tourny is going to be.
Right now we ALL KNOW exactly what the tournies are going to be: the same thing every week. Which is why we are having this thread...lol
Thanks for asking us, the community, what we think about this and what we would like to see. I am suprised that there hasnt been a bigger turn out in this thread though.

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
Ive bin thinkin weekly classes as the same but random pi + random tracks very much the same as the weekly hlc... Then u could have awd, rwd, fwd, muscle cars, torneys random pi...try and cut out the lb cars this will give people new builds each week some thing more interesting!! Nurburgring has 2 b added but no collisions, damage on.tyers on sim only for this track as its impossable 2 overtake.. For the r classes only use certain cars each week, random tracks.. make the lobbys un ranked.. so if u get ramed off like i have many times then its not a problem no stress lol..i hope this helps iam a forza nut from back in the days of forza 1.. forza 2 is the best racein sim 2 date....lets make it better.. thanx :-)

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
No assist tournaments would be #1 on my wishlist.
Maybe some changes to the Random 30 process would be nice too... make it so you can only win once every 5 weeks or at least make sure someone can't win two cars in one week like just happened.

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
I remember they did a no assist tourny once already, and it was all the same people at the top. I believe it was during the Nissan qualifying stage. While it might change the experience of some of the competitors, in the end it wont change anything else. The cars will be the same, and the winners will be the same. There is no real value added.

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
Hi, Also remeber it's not just Americans playing tourneys, us europeans play too you know, but due to time differences, we can't join all events as some are in the early hours of the morning. So staggered tourney start times, some to suit US and some to suit Euro,

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
I would love to try a Hot Laps Challenge - where the fastest overall time for 5 - 10 laps was the criteria.
That would have changed the way we upgraded the Charger at the speedway since the tires only held together for 3 laps!
Laguna Seca for the CGS challenge would have been interesting too, since that one magical lap came together between laps 12 - 18 for most folks.
Since we're all running a ton of laps anyhow, it would be fun to see who can run the 5 fastest consecutive laps!

+1. I don't know if their system will allow that but I'd love to see multi-lap challenges.

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Like I said this is a work in progress, but once I get a few other priorities sorted out this will be on the top of the list. It has gone on too long with these repeated settings.
So I am not sure if we can randomize the settings each week, but this is something I will look into. As has already been mentioned before the goal of re-organizing the tournaments is to provide some variety for players that want a specific style of tournament.
A tournament that is completed in one day sounds like a good idea, as well as tournaments that start at prime time for our European Players. Also endurance tournaments and no assist tournaments are all ideas that we can implement. So keep the ideas flowing and I will make sure to carefully read this thread when the time comes to start work on the new settings!
Thanks!

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
factory: On a more positive note, changing the tracks around for the weekly tournaments would do a world of good to revitalize interest. PGR used to change the car for each round of a tournament, I think that is an idea worth considering.
Example: R4 qualifier = #57 Viper on Suzuka R4 round 2 = #35 Supra on Silverstone R4 round 3 = #23 Nismo GT-R on Laguna
etc...
Or have it by manufacturer (stock settings, assuming the glitch is fixed)) Round 1 = Honda Prelude on Road Atlanta Round 2 = Honda NSX-R on Maple Reverse Round 3 = Mugen Integra on Mugello
etc....
just some ideas
Thats what ive been asking since this game came out; also would LOVE tournies that would only take a day or two to finish.( really love, i mean REALLY)
The best thing about PGR tournaments was that each tournay had a theme to go by, ferrari expert, manual master, short and sweat, etc.... I think more tournays based around a theme would give this game some flare and also they would have to have catchy names.
ooooo and this would prolly never happen but I would love to see a really crazy hard tournay.
Maybe called "hardcore racer championship"
Example: American muscle, all assits turned off, on the test track(king corba)
Never going to happen but I think it would be fun![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

Tone, is that Lithium Hairgrease? No wonder you're so dang fast!
Now that's out of the way. I would like to see a tournament that requires a certain skill level to enter. Last night in the quarter finals of the GameSpot tournament at Sebring was one of the best races ever. The talent in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. You know how fun the warmup races can be with everyone who takes the tourny seriously. It's just a blast. Rubbing, bumping, racing, and laughing the very last lap!

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
tournament wise all the ideas mentioned so far are all good ideas (my favorites being 1 day tournament, and track variety) also is there a way that in tournament, or regular game play we could get a hp restriction that has no minimum? like instead of 300-400 hp just 400hp and under? because i know that when you are trying to make a room that bans the retardedly fast hp crazy cars that dont turn, you have to eliminate some of your own garage because they dont make the hp minimum...even though they would still be competitive....
also as far as tournaments go what about a user created tournament (for example the bismark 330 open) not every user tournament obviously, but perhaps once a quarter get your heads together, and decide which user tourney is the most anticipated, creative, interesting, fun, or whatever, and give that person a legit tournament race to advertise a little, and get some serious participation.

Re: Online Tournament Overhaul!
I say you have a tournament where you only have 2 laps to get your qualifying lap, that way qualifying is less of a hotlap chalange, and more like in RL. Also, I second the one for tournaments that start and stop in the same day.

I think this is a GREAT idea. Alot of people do not have the time to run hundreds and hundreds of laps ( and some people do run 200,300,400 ) laps after they spend the time to set up and tune a car. In my opinion it should be 3 laps for tires to heat 3 laps to push car and wear tires in 3 laps to set my time 1 lap for a mess up. 10 laps. I think 10 laps is fair. And much closer to real life.

These are also Great ideas, I like the horsepower idea and have had this thought many times. also would like add a tire restriction along the same lines.
example 1)race tires only 2)race/sport 3)sport/street restriction

Aside from the CGS qualifier, where there was a significant prize up for grabs, I don't know anyone that spends more than 20 laps to qualify for a tournament. I rarely do more than 7 or 8. What can you win? 30k in credits? Not worth that much effort. Most of the time half the people don't even show up, so they couldn't have worked too hard. However, I don't know everyone on live, so......... The weekly HLC's are a different story. Everyone has 7 full days to qualify, so if you can't find time to run more than 10 laps, that is your problem. The HLC is supposed to be a test of tuning ability, perseverance, team work, and skill.
