Calling Forza Painters! I need your help/opinion!

After some time scouring the AH for an older design by RiujinZero, I found a Toryu Mistu Evo X.  I won a very uneventful auction at just a hair under 1.1 million, which I found odd for such a good looking paint.  I grew suspicious that what I had was not a masterpiece on wheels, but a can of processed meat biproducts.
To be sure, I had a friend (and very experienced painter) take a look and tell me if he thought it was a ripoff, as we both had remembered a certain BushidoElite trying to rip off Riujin.  My friend had some discomfitting things to say about the paint, noting some sections of the car in question, but he wasn't 100% sure and recommended I go with my plan to show you the car. So without further ado I present the People's Evidence, Exhibits A-D.

I now put it to you, a jury of my peers (as Forza Enthusiasts), to find the Defendant (myself) guilty or not guilty of biting the proverbial hook and buying into a Spammed P.O.S.

Re: Calling Forza Painters! I need your help/opinion!

It does look like the original, but with some real nasty layer shift going on! You will need to get Riujin himself, or another member of redline to confirm this. I remember the ones that bushido idiot was trying to copy, lol, they were nothing like this!

The last message Tom sent me via Live was that he wasn't going to be on for a while, since he was in the middle of moving.  I have a couple cars I'd like to show him.

Re: Calling Forza Painters! I need your help/opinion!

that looks to be ligit, just not sure why all layer shift is there, I fixed all the sony logo's and Redline above windshield, and alpine on the hood. I also was selling em with TE37' cause we had a mix up in the begining, and it did'nt change the PI. so I sold em with either wheel, next time pm a seller we are more than happy to sell u one at original price of 250k. if you want we can hook u up with a cleaner versionBig Smile [:D]

I don't mean to sound dense, but I suppose I will as a side effect of my being new to the game, and thereby the livery, but... What's layer-shifting? I'm still trying to figure out how to make small things that aren't blurry and garbled/aliased myself, and this seems like as good a place as any to clear up the term 'layer-shift'. :3

Re: Calling Forza Painters! I need your help/opinion!

Yea, the car you have is victim to the dreaded layer shifting.  It's definitely genuine, but I'm sure Quad would be happy to help to hook you up with one without the shifted layers if you wanted it.  Quad is a great guy when it comes to those kinds of things. Wink [;)]

Also, if you want, send me a PM with the other cars in question and their original owners and maybe some pics if layer shifting is part of the question (I know the majority of Tom's cars, so I'd be happy to give you all the info I can).  Tom (Riujin) is going to be off of XBL for a while due to some real life things, as he told you.

    Basically, layer shift is a result of a design being repeatedly sold on the auction house or gifted. For example;

    1. I create design and gift it to Mr X

    2. Mr X sells said design to Bob through the auction house

    3. Bob then sells to Jim the same way.

    4. Jim gifts design to his pal Mr Z

    5. By the time Mr Z goes to put up the design for sale, all the re-selling and gifting has affected the games coding of the design, and individual layers of the design have noticably shifted in a certain direction, making the overall look of the design more sloppy and irregular.

Imagine it as an old person with alhtzeimers disease, the older it gets, the sloppier it gets, lol!

Ahhhh, alright. Thanks! Haha, that's a weird glitch. Hopefully Forza3 allows you to keep small textures sharp... :(
