the main problem with forza is not a game floor its due to the levels of processing power used for the in game graphics . most games ie call of duty4 , halo3 , burnout paradise and ace combat use about 70 percent processing power which is about the right amount for keeping it cool . forza2 howerver uses about 95 percent in game and burns the cpu very hot which causes the system to run hot and over long periods of use over heats the cpu and motherboard (3 lights of death) and cause hardware faliure which is something that dose not happen in the elite because it has more cooling power .

there for i suggest that microsoft replaces all xboxs .when the failure occurs, with the elite as this is a oversite in there part and NOT due to forza2 lovers playing the game they love and have paid hard cash to play !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    rant over lol

Yeah, the Elite has 3 CPUs and the 360 only has 1, i think (let me check, where's my screwdriver!)

NO! Both elite and premium have 3 cpus

    Re: Forza Freeze

My Elite has the freeze problem also. COD4 or Forza it doesnt matter. The power box was getting so hot it would shut the game offf. I called Microsoft and they told me not to play so much, the machine is not designed to be played for more then a few hours at a time. Im glad my car is designed to be driven, apparently my Xbox is not designed to be played. Who knew??

    Re: Forza Freeze

Well im a hardcore gammer(10am to 6am on weekends) and i play nothing but Forza 2,COD4 and The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion and mines onle frozen when I dupe to many lockpicks on Oblivion but thats my fault, all my friends said that would happen. I have a Elite that was made September 7,2007 so its new. Its on my Dolby reciver witch creates heat and it never gets hot. My friend told me its because my 360 has a Falcon Chip. I scared the crap outta myselfe tho, I go 4 red lights (AV Cable unplugged ) I forgot to plug it in all the way when i brought my Xbox back from my dads :) all is fine!

    micanada:
after some major Googling and cross-referencing, 95% certainty it's the GPU or Texture RAM overheating its solder points and losing it.  Forza started freezing after a couple weeks of intense play.  i just got DiRT today and wasn't able to finish a single race - same thing happens when you get out of menus or the dashboard and actually get into pushing geometry/textures.  i tried several different games, ditto & finally got my 3 Red Rings of Death tonight.  these new games work the GPU harder i reckon, and the xbox360 has one or more serious design flaws related to solder composition, heat dissipation, and the like.  my 360 was flat & completely in the open @ 75F ambient.  once you start getting those tiny freeze glitches, it only builds until your box is bricked.  it's one hell of a bummer, not being able to play with all my new mates and watching my scores get buried...  let me repeat - this is not T10's fault!  this is entirely marginal design and/or manufacturing on Microsoft's part.  (my 360 was manufactured mid-2006)

see you all in a few weeks after the rma-return-repair process... :(

that would be incorrect, my copy of forza freezes a lot, same spot on nurburg, same SPOTS on laguna seca lol and lots of other tracks, even when i upgraded to an elite console about a month ago it still happens in the same spots all the time, most people on my friends list experience this too, in my opinion it is definitely a bug in the game and not the GPU

    Re: Forza Freeze

I finally completed everything and massively started buying cars, everytime i bought a car the game saves and it actually froze while saving, now each time i start the game it freezes when saving at the start screen (where it saves for some reason when you press start).

I wanna keep trying to start the game but I'm reluctant to do so because i have to restart my xbox360 each time it freezes during the save game (and restarting the xbox while saving is a bad thing even when it's frozen). Luckily my other save games for other games don't seem to be affected thus far.

    AM I screwed?

Btw: For a game that requires 95% of the xbox because of graphics, the game doesn't look THAT good in comparison to other games.

Same problem here.  I hadn't played the game since early Jan.  When I put it in a few days ago I got the update notice.  Messed around in the paint shop for a bit, went to the AH to get some decals, no problems.  Also I messed around with buying some of the cars from the new car pack and the 360 locked up while in "saving" mode.  After a restart everything seemed to be okay until I went racing and suddenly large black walls appeared around the track.  After a restart I could no longer get past the inital screen where you select Arcade, Career, etc.  Today, I can't get past the title screen.  The game locks up as soon as I press the "A" button.

I tried clearing the cache and reapplying the update, but that didn't work either.  Same problem - game will not advance past title screen.  I have had no messages about tampered profiles, I haven't duped anything, or cheated in any way.  Hell, I haven't once played online because I could never get it to work - always a failed connection!!  I'm at level 48 and really angry because I can no longer seem to get Forza 2 to play.  No other 360 games have any problems even after hours of play.   This is the only game that exhibits any problems.

Same here still crashing and since most of the painted cars that I have are with a locked design its pretty hard to cut down the number. I bought them because I like that and want to use them. I know t10 won't do anything to fix this anymore but I needed to complain again since it just crashed twice :)

    Re: Forza Freeze

Once again...me too! Online and Offline matches...Different cars, Different tracks. I haven't played in a few months so when I finally got the steering wheel, seat, and table set up I turn everything on and updated the latest fixes. I entered the first race and on the last turn of the last lap the XBOX locked up. I have been playing online COD4 and GTA4 and haven't had any problems. I love this, and the only, racing simulator. Please don't make this a lost experience. Thank you Turn 10 for you assistance in this annoying matter. I just want to race.

    Re: Forza Freeze

There is a real issue with the garage.  Once I filled my garage I started experiencing problems.  It always happens as I scroll through the garage. It will crash while it's loading the new car image.

I hope they will develop a new way to scroll through your garage for FM3 to reduce the problems here. I do like GT3's use of thumbnail images for larger garages is a viable option.  Perhaps another option would be to only load portions of your garage at one time, e.g. A - class cars, NA muscle cars.

To Avoid this issue simply press the X button  skips you into the listing function . and can use the various options to set search PLUS it doesnt freeze.

    Re: Forza Freeze

The freezing issue is REALLY irritating now. The fac I NO to avoid the garage if I can and it STILL does it during online play.

I've lost SOOOOO many championship races becuase of the freeze itsunbelieveable. Surly T10 could do a little something for us to help? Or at least post up a possible reason for this rather than let us all guess what it could be.

Could reall use a bit of help here!

I'm afraid we're out of luck... there's a mammoth thread just like this one in the Troubleshooting Forum. All we've been told is "The problem is too big to fix with an update." and that the failures of all of our games is acceptable in a game with this big of a fan base.

In short, T10 has turned it's back on those of us who contracted the "Forza Freeze."

    Re: Forza Freeze

I have had numerous freezes since I bought the new Platinum version and I also had a corrupted profile which cost me 267 cars and 120 million credits, not including upgrades to cars. It also has required me to have to rerun every event again to unlock cars.
