Guys chill out. I've been playing racing games since the 70"s on various formats, and one things for sure. They dont simulate real world driving at all not even close.

This thread has got side tracked onto which is best Toca or Forza I guess cos the Codies got the F1 licence. But please, there are threads already comparing different games post there. This is a thread for F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

Me I love all motor sport esp. F1 I dont get to watch much else cos I dont have cable or satellite. But if its got an engine and they race against each other not the clock I'll watch it. Sorry WRC is not for me, overtaking is where its at IMHO LOL

Although Danica makes it closer, formula 1 is still streets ahead.

I like both F1 and indy.. F1 for the fact that they have some of the best drivers in the world Indy/champ/IRL - because they seem more open for drivers however I perfer production car racing...although in NZ I race the OSCA series which is what Forza seems to be about modding cars to the spec and racing them... mmm OSCA Monaro's vs GTR's vs RX7's vs WRX's...
Forza, Gears of war, and a women, what else do you need...

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

I prefer IndyCar racing!  Here's why...

    1.  The IndyCar Series is the only major racing series in the world that challeneges its drivers with a balanced mix of oval, road, and street racing.

    2.  The IndyCar Series is a drivers' series.  F1 is more of an engineers' series.

    3.  The IndyCar Series is more competitive than F1.  Based on this year's races, there are 7 IndyCar teams (Andretti Green Racing, KV Racing, Newman Haas Lanigan Racing, Panther Racing, Rahal Letterman Racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, and Team Penske) capable of winning races.  In F1, only Ferrari, McLaren, and BMW are capable of winning races.  And there's a lot more passing in the IndyCar Series.

    4.  Champ Car, formerly known as Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART), and the Indy Racing League (IRL) ended the 12 year split in American open wheel racing before this season began.  The IRL IndyCar Series is now the only major open wheel racing series based in North America.

However, I would love to drive both IndyCars and F1 cars in Forza Motorsport 3!

IndyCar Series. One series. All the stars.

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

If t10 modelled open wheeled racers into forza it would be a shame as it would totally anhilate any other car out there, especialy if they modelled F1.

F1 is better than indy car. Don't get me wrong, i love indy car, but I like seeing rival manufacturers in development wars and the fastest caars in the world.

If you went around the IRL paddock and said: If you were offered a job by any f1 team as a race driver would you accept? 90% would.

i won't change this signiture until 57 people tell me to change it... so far: two.

Re: F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?

I prefer niether, I would rather watch Golf that is how boaring I think F1, and Indy are. it's too much like Nascar to me. I feel that curently the American & European Le Mans Series has much more to offer. 4 car classes on the track at the same time all 4 with varied performance levels, high speed passing in slower traffic, oh and did i mention.....They Dont All Look The Same!!!! Audi, Porsche, Peugeot, Ferrari, Panoz, Aston Martin, Corvette, Viper's, Ford GT'S, & more. All on the same track all at the same time now how can you argue with that & the races last anywhere between 2-24 hrs long.

When it comes to rock 'n roll, it’s been said that you’re either a Beatles fan or an Elvis fan.Within the world of auto racing, we can draw a similar comparison: Formula One and IndyCar racing each have their devoted adherents, and while some people are content to just watch some of the world’s greatest drivers demonstrate their skills at breathtaking speeds, more often than not fans strongly prefer one over the other. Why? And are the two motorsports really that different? FM.net contributor Rich Bryant explores the heritage of open-wheeled racing...

I like both, but as far as Forza Motorsports 2 I would love to see some indy cars start showing up as download content.  I have never raced open wheeled on FM2 because they have never been in the series.  I think they should, could they be?

ok now i am new and wasn't planning on posting a whole lot, but this has to be done. For starters BMW Sauber won 1, 2 in Canada. Also Toyota, Renult, Red Bull all have racers in the top ten for points. This Season is wide open for anybody to take. Also, what does racing teams have to do with adding F1 or Indy to Forza.

Sorry if i messed up or made people mad. I am tired and saw this and it made me pretty upset.

The question was "F1 vs. IndyCar Racing - Which do you prefer?"  I answered that I prefer IndyCar racing and explained why.  Please point out what was wrong with the fact I stated above?  Toyota, Renault, and Red Bull Racing haven't been able to run up front with Ferrari, McLaren, and BMW consistently.

I also happen to be a F1 fan, but I prefer IndyCar racing.  I wasn't trying to bash F1 or offend my fellow race fans.
