The original trilogy was released when I was between the ages of 7 and 13.
The difference between myself and many complaining fanboys, is that I realize that. We tend to put the originals on a bit of a pedestal, and I certainly think they deserve it to some extent.
I liked all six films for their individual pros and cons.
The prequels are visually beautiful. Far more eye pleasing than the originals, although the remastering of the originals for DVD was well worth the wait. The reason the new ones don't feel like the old ones, is because... they're the new ones. You can't recapture that chemistry with new characters and a new cast. All the prequels were, was a back story setting up the existing films.
What makes me laugh is when people refer to cheesy dialog in the new film.
I love Star Wars, but you can't much cheesier than the first film. All the 70's slang, like calling women "sister", and Luke's whiney character crying about picking up power converters? The horrible, horrible audio synch that has Vader stop talking, and then gesturing after the fact.
One thing far superior in the new films was the fight coreography. With all the effects and aliens and space battles, many don't realize what the prequels really were... the highest grossing martial arts films of all time.
I see flaws in both the originals and the prequels. It's fictions. It's just for fun. I don't worry about the flaws in consistancy. I just enjoy it for what it is.
Sorry for the rant, but trust me, this is the short answer.
