In my opinion it's a nice video and I'm sure it will help some people but I think a lot of us would rather see time spent on more tracks rather than videos and/or tutorials.

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
Hey Che, I love the guide and video. Even though I know most of this stuff. Its still a great reminder and I did learn a couple neat tricks. So yes, I think these guides are TOTALLY helpful especially to people who just don't know where to fin that extra 2-4 seconds that the really fast guys can find.
I had a friend for instance who thought diving into a corner on the inside and then swaying to the outside was the fastest way around corners....ummmm no.
So its great for people like that who have misconceptions.
Keep up the GREAT work. I cant wait for forza 3!!

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
I think the guides are very helpful to people interested in lowering their lap times. A few suggestions though would be to explain in more detail the braking points. Explain different ways of marking breaking points for the car being used in the videos as well as for cars from different classes. Where exactly should people be breaking to make sure they are hitting the apex. Perhaps include arrows pointing to the apex in each turn. How about voice overs in the videos explaining the racing line, turn in, apex, ect... Maybe a split screen showing a behind the car view and a action view.
The written directions are decent but showing people these things in a little more detail than is currently on the videos would probably be more helpful.
Like a previous poster said, I already know this stuff, but for those who don't or have misconceptions about it would be wise to spend the time reading and watching the guides.
I can hardly wait to see how you tackle making a video guide for the ring.

Thanks for your feedback, although I'm not sure how Landin and I can actually spend our time to create more tracks since, y'know, we're community managers and not track artists.

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
First off I don't usually post on the forum but I read it alot. I live about an hour and a half from Road America and have been there more times than I can count. I noticed one big thing that popped out at me that even most pro's do wrong that can save another quarter to half a second. From turn 1 to turn 3 which is called 2 on your game, there is a slight right turn. The fastest way between 2 points is a straight line, following the track on the right is not as fast as going under the point of the Briggs and Stratton Bridge slightly in the middle, a good aiming point is the small outhouse just past the concession stand. The same idea can be expressed for the line from 3-5. I don't remember if the game has it or not but the barn with the scoring tower on it is a descent aiming mark. In the carousel you might be able to pick up a bit more time if you let your car float to mid track and then when the set of rumble strips on the inside come into play dive down on them full throttle and track out to the black asphalt patch, almost perfect marks for that area and it will give you more speed going into the kink. Going through the kink is always difficult because of its scary wall, in all reality I don't have an excellent line through there, rather its something you will need to find yourself. The line through Canada Corner is fine, Nice use of the service road at the apex of 13, Lou Giglotti taught my father about that track out point, (major design error THE SNAP ON BRIDGE IS GONE) nice line entering 14, but brake a bit earlier, with a 3/4 mile long straightaway, the earlier you can pick up the throttle the more speed that can be built up. The biggest thing on this track is it is all late apexes. The long straights mean that you should be breaking a bit earlier to be setting up for the next straight, time is made up on this track much more on the straightaways by going faster out of corners than going in fast and through fast but out slow. I have been to this track multiple times like I said, it is like my second home. Try out the tricks I added to your lines and dont be suprised to pick up 1-2 seconds.
A Little Side Plug In - Next car pack can you get some 80's camaros, fox body mustangs, and turbo trans ams, the 80's sports cars are poorly represented in Forza. These are the cars you see in magazines that are for racers like Grassroots Motorsports, the cars that low buck drivers drive week in and out. Thanks.
Drive Fast Take Chances Looking for a good tuner, painter, team, and maybe a league. I do everything but drag, (I don't need to see how fast I can get going in 1/4, its no fun.)

Road America is Downloadable Track. So you have to go buy microsoft points and then purchase the track on XBOX Live. Its right where all the car packs are aswell. Road America is an AWESOME track. I would absolutly suggest getting the track before you indulge on the spicy car packs. I hope that helps!

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
They are nice and all, well written, good videos etc etc, however.............
There is nothing in the guides that you can't learn by driving round the track slowly and increasing speed, finding lines and braking points by yourself.
There just isn't enough detail to make the guides any more than a nice 5 min read, there is no real "meat" to them.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they are bad, but ultimatley, they have very little worth.

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
The overall idea of the "Track Guide" is a great idea. I think it could be better if it was a vid of a top time so people could actually see how to squeeze the most out of a turn. Also, there isn't much explaining when watching the videos. Displaying the telemitry might be a good idea to see if turns are full throtle or not. Anyways, great concept! hope to see more :)

lol Neat idea, this should help alot of people improve there hotlap times. Are you going to be doing this for every track in the game?

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
As a fairly casual Forza player I think the track guide is brilliant and would love to see more of this type of thing on the site.
Im sure most of it is old hat for the hard core players, but for those of us just trying to get a little edge on our mates its excellent.

Perhaps as community manager you guys should be more with the intra-community general state of happiness and helping to bring a serene and blissful working environment. Of course this is no small task. Just a suggestion (since you guys at Turn10 seem to get a real shortage of feedback and suggestions on these forums) but I would suggest some strippers. Nothing builds team moral like bouncing nudity. ***Disclaimer - I realize that sarcasm not always translates on forums, and therefore qualify the preceeding statement as being made entirely tongue in cheek. Furthermore, I think these videos and tips are a great addition in the continued support of the Forza community. :) Cheers guys, and nice work.

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
Like the guys said before, the video could use some arrows and pointers. Where are the braking points, what to look for, when to steer into the corner, where to look, mark the apex, etc...
Telemetry on would be a lot more helpfull too.
Other than that, great idea, I'd say keep 'em coming!

I believe these are intended for the racers that have not spent great deal of time taking apart the track and are trying shave significant time of their laps, not trying to find where they are losing that 1/100th of second.

"Make your entrance from the left side of the track and aim for the inside rumble strip to hit the apex."
No ***............
Sorry, but there is nothing of any value in this guide, that you can't find yourself by doing a handfull of slow recce laps.

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
I think that this is an awesome idea! However I did notice that the line taken through the 2nd turn was a little wide, just wondering who you got to drive in the video? I also think that it would be a good idea if you went into a bit more detail, like just by using the telemetary for example would allow the veiwer to see much more of what is going on. But yeah, awesome idea, and very nicely done for the first time

Re: The Turn 10 Road America Track Guide Discussion
Most of these comments are just well far from the idea behind these awesome vids by the Forza team. They are not at all meant to give you full knowledge to perfect the track in question but to just give you a rough idea as to what the basic racing line is and just basically helping the people who dont know about that stuff. I mean as if they gonna give us the ideal line and braking points for us to just copy, they want to see us perfecting that ourselves, they would be defeating ther object of making the game wouldnt they ? Nice vids for people who need guidance, well done T10. P.S. Thats just like showing us how to beat a game they spent so long and hard in creating. LoL.

Yup. Writing a guide for the top 10 people on the leaderboards has less value than writing a guide that will benefit the people below the top 10 but not at the bottom. Go for the sweet spot in the middle and you help the most people.
Besides, anytime you try to instruct someone who's already at or near the top of the leaderboard, are they *really* going listen to anything you have to say? ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
